  1. I have heard that Klipsch speakers do not do well on wood floors. I see yours are sitting on wood floors, so what do you think? Anyone else have an opinion on this. The floors I would be putting them on actually are not wood but pergo, on top of concrete slap foundation.
  2. So is the tax return season driving the prices up since people have the money to bid. I do see how this would affect the going prices. Well, I will like to see what the prices on Heresys are doing around June. If we see them fall back down we will know to hold off our big ticket sales (if we are the seller)until March/April. Good insight, I hope it does not get us convicted,
  3. Yes, one was behind a chair (kind of) I put it on a six inch platform and I can tell a difference. I think I am going to get a 12" stand and see what that sounds like.
  4. alot of folks say you need to get the speaker at ear level, well which of the three would you want at ear level? If you are working with fortes for instance. ohh,, this just made me think of another thread,
  5. For those of you that have been after this hobby for a long time, is there a best time to look for speakers. I do not know why the time of year would make a difference, but it seems to me that the final selling price on Ebay for Heresy's has/is going up and I am glad I got mine when I did, I may even try to sell mine just to get another finish. Do you see any type of cycle? Will more show up as folks do "spring cleaning"?
  6. Jon A - No, I did not get into music in my youth. The date I joined this forem is about the same time I got my klipsch setup and it is probably the first time I really enjoyed "just listening to music". My brother is six years older and I do remember him coming home with his LPs and yes much time was spent with the jacket. I could not (still can't but will get better) tell you who sung what or who was in what band. This thread made me think of an "everybody loves Raymond episode" where Raymond bought his dad some CDs to replace his old records but he wanted his LPs. And the show ended with him listening to his LPs. Makes me want to get a TT and get an LP and see what I am missing. But after listening to the Eagles "Hell freezes over" in DTS I think I can see me liking both but I do not know if I would want to do the LP expecially if I could get the music in the form of and audio DVD.
  7. Okay, I see alot of folks talking about vinyl, turntables and the like. I thought the CD did away with these, I know there are some that have a big supply but is that the only reason you are still playing them, because you have them? Or is there a preference to the true audiophile for records? Inquiring minds want to know.
  8. On a serious note Rigma, do you have any Imperials? And if so which ones do you have?
  9. Well, thanks for the input. As far as using the C7, I am just one of those types that once I have it I do not want to part with it and thought about using it. But I will probably just use the CWs. This will probably be a long time out. I have to find some that I can pick up and I also have to mow a lot of lawns this summer. I have read about the C7 and the timbre matching. I do not know if I have a "good" ear. I would love to hear the difference, if someone lives in NW Arkansas with an Academy bring it over and I will fix you dinner. Anyway, thanks for the tips. I am new to all this and still having to control my "wants". Like what is the sound difference with a tube amp. I do not know if I have ever heard one.
  10. Anyone have these or other outdoor Klipsch? Do they sell these at BB? And if all I have my outdoor speakers hooked up to is a tuner should I get these or get these and listen to more than just the radio outside. How do Heresys sound outside?
  11. I have these as surrounds pointed towards the middle of the room. I have read where you need to get your surrounds elevated some. How much should they be elevated and does anyone have any suggestions? After writing this I am going to get a couple of milk crates to set them on and see how much difference I notice.
  12. So now that I have the hall pass, I can actively begin pursuing the Khorns. I need to post a pic but let me ask if this sounds like it will work. The long wall that the TV is centered on is 30 feet long, the TV is in the center with the Cornwalls on each side. If I get Khorns and put them in the corners (about 5 feet seperation from the cornwalls) can I turn both Cornwalls and the KLF-C7 into my center and keep the fortes as surrounds and heresys as rears? I guess my main question is, How do I make both CWs and C7 the center when the rcv is thinking this is just ONE speaker?
  13. AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW, STOP IT!!! I think it may be all the talk of folks wantin and getting Khorns, I would get killed if I did that right now but I am telling the WAF (going to have to help me out on what that actually stands for)that I am saving to get Khorns!! Going to mow lawns this summer, split the money on Khorns and gas for that boat. I think I may have to avoid this site or I may just change my mind. Anyone want to trade for an 89 325I?
  14. Wow, where do I get the special green marker from?
  15. After reading the list of folks favorite DVDs it made me wonder why no one had picked any country so I did a search here and this is about the only thread. HMMM, I enjoy a little bit of country but the old folks that are playing much anymore do not have music out that will allow me to utilize the setup the way it should be heard. So we keep the CDs in the 2 channel setup. I would like a music DVD of Garth B. I saw him in concert and he does put on a good show even if he is a little on the POP side.
  16. If there is another crash and I loose everything, the speakers listed below are paid for and it they must they would fit nicely in the back of the pickup. I just went back and looked at your age. If you can learn to live on 75%of your income. The rest SAVE. 15% in funds and 10% in regular savings. You need two savings accounts, one that has AT LEAST 4 Months of what you want to bring home monthly and the other for rainy day, "oh, I gotta have". Once those are built put that 10% into stocks and/or bonds. And if those you work for do not provide insurance you need that. If you work for someone where you can contribut to a retirement account THAT HAS TO BE PART OF THE 75% YOU LEARN TO LIVE ON, YOU STILL HAVE TO SAVE THE OTHER 25%. You do this and retire comfortably when you are 58, look me up I will be 81 and should have my khorns by then and we can listen to some music together. Seriously though, mutual funds are LONG TERM investments, long being 20plus years and then you gain the true effects of dollar cost averaging (sorry for any spelling errors, I do numbers not words). If you look at the history of the market there are always highs and lows and we continue to trend upward. Funds have different goals or risks, I tend towards the moderate ones that have shown higher growth then just plain ole stocks "On Average", pick a dollar amount you can live with saving and forget about it, YES even when it crashes, and if it does crash see about buying some extra. As I get older I will probably move my funds to lower risk funds that earn MORE than CDs and money markets but arer still "SAFE". And like I started, if it crashes and we all find ourselves broke, JUST TURN UP THE TUNES AND PASS THE BOTTLE OF/OR WHATEVER.
  17. 450 would get you a nice pair of Heresys which I know you would love. I think everyone should get a pair of Heresys as their first speakers. But when (notice I did not say IF) you get them be prepaired to get in trouble all the time by the parents for having the music up too loud. Good Luck
  18. Just to clarify. Mrs. Klipsch did a great job on her end of the instruction process. She did a good job teaching, I just was not interested too much in the learning end of things. But I did live overseas for a few years and the background I had came in a little handy.
  19. Hmm, may have to attend. I grew up in Hope and Mrs. Valarie tried to teach me French one year, right before she married Paul.
  20. Longest wall facing the East is 30 feet long, if you are facing it there is a window that starts two feet from the right and is 6feet long. The room is 22 feet deep and has doors and hallways. Face the longest wall and there is a window on the left wall that starts a foot off the long wall and is 6 feet. So how would you set this up????? I WANT KHORNS!!
  21. I just called a dealer and they said 8k for new khorns. are they idiots? I want them and will get them, but not for 8k.... good luck bidding
  22. If not then I oppoligize, but I believe this is a troll. Someone who wants to excite excitement!! Seen it on several boards. crying " I NEED ATTENTION" SELL EM GET WHAT YOU CAN AND LOVE/LEAVE IT. IF YOU GET BETTER THAN THE MARKEY VALUE REJOICE IN THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF A POOR SOUL THAT KNOWS NO DIFFERENCE.
  23. My kids have learned to accept it but they know that when I turn on the stereo there will be NO TV. I think they enjoy it. I have purchased CD and Music DVDs for them and the youngest does alot of what she is doing now......dancing. We did not listen to alot of music in the house before the Klipsch arrival. We had a Bose 5.1 system but the setup now is MUCH BETTER!!
  24. Well, I have done alot of searching and reading and have gained some great information. I think I know what I need to do but I want to throw this out to get some specific info on my setup. I am using a Pioneer VSX-D811S. I currently have it setup so It thinks the mains are "large" and the center is "small" I have the crossover set at 100. The crossover can be set at 100, 150, or 200. I also have the system set to SUBPLS, which sends bass to the sub even thought the mains will handle it. I really have not played with the setting which I probably should. What is the best audition CD to really notice difference in settings? Oh, BTW, I have every garage sale hound I know on the lookout for Khorns.
