JL Audio woofers are not in question here,I know JL Audio's best are the cream of the crop when it comes to car woofers.I had dual 15" JL's and these beasts produce some of the most defined, articulate bass one can hear, plus when called upon they can poound a storm. And I maintain my position,Dynaudio's tweeters and mid-bass drivers are among the top 3 elite world wide. Why so many High End speakers use them? Luck? Not so ---------------- I do have to say here that the Dynaudio's in cars are like, WAY WAY WAY better than 97% of the stuff out there, I just liked the FOCALS and the MB QUARTS better. keep in mind, the quarts that I now have are the FLAGSHIP, (ordered from Germany) speakers--not the crap that is usually sold in stores (that stuff is weak). I think the Focal utopia's excel in one area, and fall short in others--as do the quarts, but I like high pitch sound that is non-fatigueing (lots of electronic music in my car) so I accept the give and take. I think the Dynaudio's are exceptional in all arenas-and depending on what music you listen to really are incredible "overall". The focals are weak in the highs, and the quarts are weak in the mids. the best overall of these 3 top performers are dynaudio-but if you want one area of sound to excel in particular-then, the Focals and the Quarts. I hope this explains myself a bit better...The quarts are way expensive though--very pricey. if one doesn't get a "Deal" on them, the Dyn's or Focals are where its at. I've been told that CRYSTAL are also quite nice, but I don't know first hand.... as far as amps go--I'm actually useing a very well-reviewed, but inexpenisive in compairison amp---AUTOTEK. the sound is exceptional, and the price is very very good for this small companies products( I looked a JL, and alpine and a few others--I wanted a single muti-channel amp that actually sounds good...found one..very similar to Hiphonics). and to share in the audio-bonding here:---- My car: 1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen Headunit: Nakamichi CD 500 (nak decks are the best out there-they sound better than everything else) amp: Autotek-SX 5750 (good amp-sounds fantastic NEVER overheats, never is fatigued-- despite the low price) speakers: MB QUART-- QSD 216 6.5 components. Rear Speakers: MB QUART- DTE 169 (the weak-link in this setup..but.6x9 is the factory size...and honestly, you can't really hear these anyway...) sub: the 10" JL w6v2 in their custom "pro-wedge" enclosure. EQ:Audiobahn 30 band EQ I then had the car completely soundproofed with RAMMAT (WAY Better than "brown bread" or dynamatt--plus the guy that makes this stuff is really nice...) and completely re-wired with after market line. and its all protected by the flagship COMPUSTAR alarm system (the best out there--check them out) the bass in my car is so deep and tight its only rivaled by the absolutely spectacular sound. When people hear it they can't believe I only have a single 10" in there--its all about accoustics... the guy that did the install (does all the pro-athletes in the area, and is the comp. winner every year) said its one of the best sounding systems he's ever heard, and his boss after hearing my speakers, went out and bought them for his vehicle. the best part---if the windows are rolled up, you can't hear it or see a single rattleing part on the outside of the vehicle. Inside...well...I've felt lows soo deep and pure that it chased the thoughts out of my head and caused confusion...seriously..I had to turn it down, I thought I was going to crash...(drum and bass techno--ANDY C--if you like DnB and you haven't heard him yet--he's unrivaled technically...go get his stuff...) if you want to hear a great bass test track---the group: C-Tec, the song: Stateless. I've popped club speakers with that bassline...plus its a great song. When I first got my DEF TECHs I actually browned out the apartment complex I live in with that song and a carver amp....

LOL Are you deaf? What amp did you use a Citizen or a Candle? Dynaudio tweeters and mid-bass drivers are known world wide for their quality.I have Contour 3.3's,1.1's and center at home as well as heard two great car setups using front and rear Dynaudio car component speakers. Dynaudio drivers are up there with Focal,Eton and Accuton pal, stop posting jokes. Know your facts, some of the best car and home setups use Dynaudio drivers,if they did not impress you they were not implemented properly. ---------------- whatever ear, I mean..you know your gear--and I've listened to quite a few of the things you have to say, but the comp. winners aren't useing Dynaudio usually. Sorry. thats not to say that they don't sound good but they don't shine like the Focal's or Quarts--I've heard them all as A/B compairisons so, you can say whatever you want, I'm deaf blah blah blah but your opinion isn't going to change how something sounds. I do know that different areas like different things and its less an ear thing and almost a regional thing, a comp. winner on the east coast might not place on the west coast, and a car in California that people love might not do much in miami. honestly, its as much about configuration as it is speaker type---you'll see people win that just have a clever set up, and they are useing drivers and amps that noone would expect to perform the way they did. I Still believe that JL audio are the best for subs--but, like I said whatever....listen to whatever you like... JL audio W7s --properly driven, and enclosed well of course, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that is as nice.... bash on....
  3. I've got a pretty nice car-audio set up. very musical, not your typical thump-thump bass cannon setup. Klipsch Horns would sound awful in a car. there just isn't enough open space. Cars have very odd acoustics--keep this in mind. Klipsch could probably make good speakers for car use-but, without horns would they really be Klipsch? the car audio best ofs are as follows, but not necessarily in this order....(depends on what "kind" of sound you like) Dynaudio --a good all around, but doesn't excel in one particular area FOCAL UTOPIA series --incredible mids MB QUART (Flagship line) The best Highs--very precise and to a lesser degree-- Mcintosh (VERY pricey but that classic Mac sound...) SUBS: JL Audio--almost no competition for this, these subs are the best. period. (I guess HSU makes a good car sub too, but I haven't heard it yet) Amps: well..there are some very high level high end amps out there, including Mcintosh, I don't know the greats in this subject...they get very expensive....and at a point its only about power--SPL competitions and such.

I mean give me a break, i have seen skateboard ramps with a better finish. Ok, I'm sure they sound nice and all, and they are traditional, but as far as I’m concerned, I think speakers should look as good as they sound. The heritage speakers simply don’t do that. Maybe a lot of you think they look great, but I left the 70's 24 years ago, did you? ---------------- I actually felt very similar about these speakers when they "stood alone" i.e. pictures or seeing in a showroom. They aren't sleek, or sporty, and they look "old". BUT!! when I saw them in JM's HT I realized that they integrate very nicely. They give, what many people want--which is amazing sound without looking like speakers. They look like cabinets, like furniture. They give the ultimate experiance in that you forget there are speakers in the room. They also really need to match your decor--if you have glass, concrete, and steel tastes--you want speakers to look like speakers then, and then the Khorns will stand out. but if you have a more integrated look to your equipment--they really are quite nice to look at. they don't match equipment though--they lack the "high tech" look of a digital panel or a big television. I think they look best when the equipment is off to the side and don't disturb the overall feel.
  5. JDSD-- could you, as much of a bother as it is explain what you all have there? Its absolutely spectacular, but i was wondering if its a bit excessive? (I honestly don't know what you all have there, and so I'm curious) I'm really curious about this--I love the way Mac stuff sounds, so warm. its very inviting. I would say that you should check out KHORNS because, they really are quite nice--and would sound amazing with your gear. Thanks for shareing and welcome to a very cool forum!
  6. Mits and Pioneer ELITE are the best RPTVs on the market. Mits in fact, stopped making "regular" TVs so they could focus on their RP market. I did my research extensively when I bought 2 years ago and the MITS have one of the best PQs and features of any RP TV--rivaled only by the ELITE line, which was-at the time double the price of the MITS. If you have the money for the ELITE--save more and look at an actual projector. Get the Mits. You'll be happy.

That and the gunfight in HEAT--its not DTS but, it still is awsome.
  8. oh, and in response to the "burn-in" question. yes--it is something to consider. any sort of static menu OR static function in the game (healthbars or the HUD display for your playable character) CAN burn in---BUT!! this is only an issue if games are on the system for at least 40% of the total viewing time where the TV is used. So, you'd have to play ALOT! of games and have somewhat long sessions to get a burn in on the screen. It is a worry that you should have, but if you use your best judgement this shouldn't really be a concern, as much as it should be a precaution. if it is a concern, you could do what a few friends of mine have done which is have a seperate 27" tube TV for their video games, but I don't think that this is necessary.
  9. ok, I hate to admit this but I'm a gamer (sigh..) and I would say that for children, the GAMECUBE has the best games--most colorful, friendly, very nintendo-like (lots of creatures and characters and such). The X box was created to essentially bring the more advanced games of the PC to a console based system, and it wasn't really ever targeted for "family" games, though some have come out since their original market techniques and strategies. The PLAYSTATION2 unit was a best both worlds approach, and tries to bridge the gap between the "adult" functions of the x-box and the "youth" functions of the gamecube. The PS2 though quite a nice unit is actually of the three console systems available, the weakest in terms of graphics, frames per second, color palette, etc etc..and it is also the oldest, hence it is behind via technology, but has the largest catalogue of games available. For children--the two systems to look at would be the GAMECUBE and the PS2. For something more well rounded, the PS2 would have the edge in the sheer number of titles available for play (anywhere from childrens games to "must be 18 to buy" type games). I have my PS2 hooked up through component cables on my 55" mits, and I know that this is a function available on the XBOX as well. I'm not sure on the gamecube however. MONSTER CABLE is the maker of the higher end video game cables, and I'm sure that they have more information about this or anyother way you wish to hook up your game system. Good luck!
  10. I have to agree with the above post- The Klipsch computer speakers are the best. test after test after test by every reviewer out there could not find issue with the klipsch speakers. Maximum PC however does list as their new best of the best the LOGITECH Z-680 set. honestly--I've heard the klipsch, and I own the Klipsch. Logitech has never made good speakers before, but everyone can change I guess. my gut is go with the klipsch set for general use... BUT!! if you are a studio musician and you want true MONITORS but for your computer--check out these: Edirol DM-5 Studio monitors
  11. Denon has been makeing seperates for the japanese market for quite some time now. they had a CD transport at one time that sold for $54,000.00 and amps as high as $15,000.00 They were technically state of the art--but are they worth the price tag?? who knows... they certainly didn't look like DENON products though, the cd transport looked a bit like the original SEGA GENESIS with a big round middle section.
  12. ---------------- On 2/19/2004 4:15:35 PM iwillwalk wrote: what brand would you recomend? ---------------- since you're on this forum, and you appreciate quality I would say SKIP all the name brands that you've heard and head one place. ALIENWARE trust me. they make the best systems around, anywhere period. This is a non-issue to any hardcore gamer or tweaker that hasn't already built their own system. If gamers and power users like them, they are the most stable things out there. the only thing that even comes somewhat close to them is FALCON NORTHWEST
  13. In regards to the PIONEER ELITE 49tx, and the pioneer elite line in general, I've been told by several people that B & K as the amp, with the Elite as the Pre/pro is a very nice sounding combination. I haven't heard it yet, but most of the people that I heard this from I trust. One of them being Josh Lehman AKA DocDVD from www.digitalaudiovideo.com (I got my Elite from his group buy). He's recommended this combination to quite a few people on the Pioneer 49tx forum, and all have been quite happy. I'm sure that the B & K amp would also sound quite nice with the higher line DENONs as well.
  14. just as an FYI--the best consumer level VCRs on the market are MITSUBISHI. they are incredible. The coolest VCR I ever saw was one made by Minolta--it could do some awsome stuff "on the fly" like mosaic, and "art imagery" and it could remember up to 12 frames of images that could be recalled at any time. it was awsome. when I wanted a good VCR I searched for it but I couldn't find one-Mits are the next best thing. Beta was superior to VHS in every way--sony was stupid, greed and bad marketing. I've got a original "ENTER THE DRAGON" on Betamax in the Warnerbrothers padded clam shell box if anyone outthere is a Bruce Lee fan

Keith ---------------- I could move the left speaker but then, I couldn't really get to the rest of the apartment...i guess it would be a sacrifice As far as the walls by the right speaker--YES! its definately noticeable, but the receiver I have auto-calibrates everything so its compensated for. now, calibrating manually--its very noticeable, in fact I lose quite a bit of low-end on the left tower. It does sound great though!
  16. skonopa--question for you, or for all of you--EAR!! I need some technical expertise here...keep in mind my wallet isn't as big as I'd like..... Skonopa-- I notice you are useing a receiver as a pre/pro and a B&K 200.7 amp (the very same amp I've been considering) and I wanted to know what your thoughts are in regard to useing a "higher" line reciever as a Pre/pro vs. selling the receiver and getting a dedicated pre/pro.... anyone's thoughts on this?? I'm open to all suggestions. my concerns are thus: my speakers are a 4-8 ohm range and in turn my receiver (pioneer elite vsx 49tx) is having quite a bit of trouble driving them, but I really do love the receiver's capabilities as a processor, and I don't have the kind of money to buy a HIGH END pre/pro right now. anyone?? anyone?? ...bueller.....bueller....
  17. ---------------- On 2/17/2004 4:30:56 PM skonopa wrote: It would be interesting to compare how they sound to the clarity and detail that I get out of my Klipsch. This is still something I would like to do though just to compare the two. Like I've said before, I really like both companies quite a bit, So I'd love to hear the nuances of each speaker. after that I'm going to go trade my speakers for a bunch of those BOSE clock radios, and maybe some of those little cubes--
  18. ok...ok. since I'm the cretin that started this tirrade (ps: I can't spell, but I do know what the words imply none the less...) I'll say this. I got out of hand when it became personal, and to this I will say--at one point it became a question of how much more would I need to defend my viewpoint. For all of this very childish nonsense-I would like to apologize to everyone on this forum for my very un-professional behavior. I never intended from the very first post to imply any sort of hierarchy, I simply wanted to give my feelings about my speakers, which I really enjoy hearing, and have enjoyed hearing for several years now. I didn't want, nor did I think I put anyone elses choice down, and I was in complete understanding that this is a Klipsch forum, and so the opinions would be Klipsch related. I also will say that their are people on here who's opinions and equipment choices are incredible, and their technical expertise is far beyond anything that I maintain--and it is for this reason that I enjoy reading the posts here, and truely do value their opinions. I didn't mean to start a war, and I had wanted this to remain friendly, especially since I REALLY LOVE KLIPSCH, I just saw that there was someone inquiring about another brand, and since I have them in my home, and have for around 3 years now I thought I would talk about them, and the fact that I do enjoy them. My involvement with people on this forum has actually caused me to once again really listen to my speakers and identify why I like them so much, and I've found myself pulling out pieces of music that I haven't heard in a while so that I could understand my own fanaticism. It is this new found scrutiny that makes me enjoy this forum that much more. This thread, in no small way, has been a strong reason for me to sit and really listen to my speakers, which I'm still as pleased with as the day I first heard them. This is a blessing, and its something I hope everyone can say. Thank you for reading this, thank you for tolerating me, and thank you for all the expertise that you provide. RFinco
  19. Russ-- I never said I was an expert--you obviously can't read. I said that I'm on here because of the people that are experts and that I value what they have to say. you're a bit slow it seems. thats about all I can say now because everything else is lost on you. you can't even understand what I write, or any sort of inflection of language, and so communication with you is obviously impossible. so, go home--put on a silly hat, do whatever it is morons do. Good luck. Godspeed.
  20. ---------------- expressing your opinion is fine..... i welcome it with open arms.... once or twice..... more than that you start to sound like a salesman.... i've seen it before on this forum as well as others...... maybe it's just coincidence that we now have a new user policy on the top of every forum referring to sales/promotions on this forum.... the very next day after i made the comment "you are sounding more and more like a salesman"..... i think not...... ---------------- I think you are a paranoid fool to be honest with you. I am not a sales person--and obviously, by the way you communicate neither are you--and if you are--i guess its proof that it can snow in hell. I can't believe how much of a jerk you've been to me. I also love how you feel you can speak for everyone around you on the forum. as I've said above, if you'd bother to actually read something instead of just mouthing the words--I'm on here because of the expert level of audio expertise that is provided by those who know what they are talking about--you...well, I'm starting to believe that you won some speakers at a carnival and you happened to like the name because it was easy for you to pronounce. you think not....hell...I don't think you think at all. take your opinions, ball them up real tight and stick them somewhere dark and uncomfortable on your person. as far as your sites "policies" go, I really don't care-its not my being here that enacted them, its your paranoia. I wanted nothing more than to be civil with you, but its obvious that you want to fight-and if this is the case I'm more than capable of doing so, but I'd rather not. Nothing gets acomplished, and besides--its just opinions based on courage due to antonimity. if we were face to face I'm sure things would be far more cordial and we could see each other's point, and it would have never degraded to the level that I brought it to in the above message, but we're not face to face so at this point I'm willing to push as far as you like. I like what I like, you like what you like. Fine.
  21. hsu have been doing cylindric subs for longer than SVS-but HSU (aka Dr. HSU) started with car audio. Also some very nice stuff. I believe they are doing home audio applications now as well.
  22. So, being as I don't know my Klipsch history as many of you on here do, explain to me why this is not a good deal, or why this is a rip off...I'm genuinely curious... usually, AUDIOWEB is pretty solid for very high end equipment (there's some used WILSON GRAND SLAMMS on there for a mere 26,500.00-a bargain!!...(sarcasm)) so is this a on-going scam out there or something?...I'm genuinely curious..someone enlighten me..

I'm a great salesperson, but I'm not one by trade, nor do I have any affiliation with Def Tech. I just think that there are all these valid opinions out there that say something other than what you have said or what you support. Does this mean that there is a "wrong" or a "right" here? No, it doesn't-It means there is difference of factual opinion. and if you think factual opinion doesn't exist, or this is something I've made up, then we never will see eye to eye or even "agree to disagree" for that matter. I'm guessing you're a "my way or the highway" kind of person, which is a shame because your refusual to see validity in the things you don't agree with is an incredibly limiting viewpoint, and will keep you from many great things and people in your lifetime. And if this viewpoint doesn't apply to you, and I've been hasty in my summation I do apologize for speaking out of turn, but, keep in mind--I only know what you have shown me thus far.

It looks incredibly professional--and is very distinctive. it looks like a contemporary museum piece. I have a bunch of stuff done by them that way and it looks fantastic--much better that traditional framing. the drawback is that it is costly, often 2-3 times more to box frame than to just buy the poster. BUT I assure you it looks fantastic, and you'd have a very difficult time reproduceing their technique on your own. I just looked--they don't have that one listed anymore on their site--but the cust. service people told me that they have another database full that they don't even list--they told me that if its out there--they can get it. check them out--they've got the best selection on the web hands down.
