Hey guys i'm on your side don't get me wrong . I've never heard or even seen a pair of corns before, just thought a rating of 1000 watts max was a little crazy considering how efficient klipsch speakers are . For that matter i've never owned a amp that could put out 1000 watts, even considering the headroom. I own klipschorns , which you'll have to pry from my cold grip when i'm dead . Never has there been a amp capabile of more than 50 watts in my house. I was just fishing for a reaction after reading about the cornwalls. Don't be pissed at me guy's i'm just an *** looking to stir the loyalist crowd , better than posting about some ***** lickers or other political crap thats been dominating the 2 channel forum as of late .

I've never heard a pair of corns but if they can take 1000 watt peaks compared to 400 watt peaks of a k-horn, one would think these puppys can pound out the tunes . Does anyone use high current SS amplification with cornwalls ? Can corns be pushed ? will they take a few hundred watts without falling apart at the seams . Just about every corn owner here seems to have tubes , don't you guy's listen to any " moving " rock ? By that i mean music you just have to feel not just hear . I do like the sound of tubes but don't think they are quick enough to respond to todays fast hard hitting rock or gangster rap . This has been one of my pet peeves with klipsch , like mcdonalds and the big mac the klipschorn has not changed much in the past 20 years . mcdonalds changed the pickles , klipsch changed the crossover. Not bad for 20 years of evolution !!!!!!!!!!! One has to ask " where does klipsch want to be with the k-horn " ? Is this the flagship of the fleet that all others are to be measured against or just another horn loaded offering on the market . If i were at the helm at klipsch i'd make the k-horn like chevrolet did with the corvette. I'd challenge you to find a sports car in this price range that would or could hold a candle to the corvette. Klipsch should be doing the same with the k-horn !! Personally i think it could be even better for the price there asking , after all they have been building these things for how many years now ? you'd think klipsch would have perfected the construction process by now plus grinding there suppliers for better parts, etc ,etc, etc .

Option #2 would be to leave my k's alone and modify another cabinet. I know a guy with a pair of EV-1 (klipschorn clones )that have brand new k-33 drivers in them, the crossovers are and would be useless of cource as well as everything in the HF . These would be a good project speaker that could be upgraded to the JBL 2404H plus a mid horn mod. These things are worthless and junk as far as re-sale value so it might be a better project than carving up a decent pair of klipschs.

There is no doubt at all you did a great job on those corns greg , but your getting dangerously close if not exceeding the price of scala's , belles or even k-horns i've seen sell for less than $1400.00 . Factor in shipping and the price goes up. If you watch e-bay its not hard to figure out the price level of lets say lascalas for instance. Right now theres 4 or 5 pairs up for auction , some have 10 or 15 bids and some have 1 or 2 bids . Biggest reason is shipping , people bid mostly in areas they can pickup or shipping is not a huge factor. I put speakers on e-bay and not had a single bid but simaliar items had sold for more than my asking price . WHY ? SHIPPING I've seen corns on E-bay go from $400.00 to $1200.00 so you never know . JOHN: Thank you very much for taking the time to respond . I for one like to come here to learn , that 2 channel forum up there is getting stupid'er by the day . I'm likly not so bright ? don't think stupid'er is even a word I have 1 copy of audioxpress and have read it 10 times cover to cover , one of the olny decent ones left . I can't seem to find it anymore ( last copy i got at chapters ) was thinking about subscribing to it.
