  1. Hey skonopa, please go into more detail about when you met Rush. They're my favorite band and Geddy Lee is who inspired me to play bass guitar.
  2. Was that with the dts track or dolby digital? I had to turn up a little louder than normal to hear everything on the dts track but I haven't tried the DD track yet so maybe it could be one of those flukes like Pirates of the Caribbean where the DD track is better.
  3. No problem, and don't worry about the RC-7 overpowering the RF-35's as I'm using them also and they sound great together. The RC-35 actually blended worse with the RF-35's as it had a "muffled" sound to it and it was easy to pick out the center when listening to music in prologic II mode especially. The RC-7 is a little bit better sounding speaker than the RF-35's but to me still sounds like a much closer match to them than any other center. And if you ever decide to upgrade your mains later to RF-5's or 7's you'll have the center to go with them and can move the 35's to the back or sell them.
  4. Wait and get the RC7. I went through every center in the klipsch reference line except the RCX-3/4 and wasn't really happy with any of them until I got the RC-7. As long as it's not too big for your mains just wait and you'll be much happier.
  5. Would you guys recommend a 40 hz crossover with the RF-35's or would a 60 hz crossover likely be better? How flat are the RF-35's down to 40 hz? I've heard you get useable output down to 30 hz with them so I assumed they would be flat down to 40 but I could be wrong.
  6. Do dvds take advantage of 1080p or would 780p be just as good? I don't watch much tv so the extra detail in hd channels with 1080p would not be that big of deal to me but if it really helps dvd clarity I'd be all for it. Basically I don't want to hold out a long time until good, affordable 1080p tv's come out if a 780p one would serve me just fine.
  7. If you can get an HK AVR 430 or 630 on ebay from Harman Kardon direct go that route. The problem is they only ship to the US. I have the AVR 430 and the RF-35's sound great with it.
  8. If you haven't messed with the phase dial turn it to 0 at that seems to work best for most people. Out of the two svs's I've received both times the phase dials were set at 180 which offered much less bass to me than at 0.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5774467064 Upgraded to a full Klipsch reference system so no longer have use for this. This thing really made the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras sing and has a decent 5 band EQ so you can tweak your speakers to sound even better.
  10. Thank you, I appreciate the offer but I'm just going to keep the RF-35's as I'm quite happy with them and have resisted the urge to upgrade them (we'll see how long that lasts) as I really think I'd need a seperate amp to get full enjoyment out of the RF-5's or 7's. I might instead upgrade my SVS 20-39 PC+ to a PC-Ultra
  11. I would personally get an SVS 16-46 PC+ or PC-Ultra tube if you can deal with having a tube sub. Email SVS and talk to Tom and I'm sure he would tell you what your best option is for your money. He doesn't try to oversell either, he actually recommended a lower end SVS to me but I didn't listen and went bigger
  12. Ahh, so that's where that seller on ebay is getting them. Must be nice living close to Indianapolis..
  13. Thanks for the reply mtnbikr, 4 hours isn't too bad of drive if you know what you're going to buy. Do they happen to have any RF-5's left and if so what are their prices like? I also so those people in the street last weekend tdk and my UE still does have most of the upper end Klipsch left as they're asking like 10% less than retail which really isn't a deal at all considering they're closing for good. I would definitely get the 35's over the 25's adamlee, I've owned both and like a lot of people have said on these forums the 25's do have an upper mid bass spike. The 35's just sound fuller and flatter to me.
  14. Thanks guys, I guess I should have clarified that the real wood finish and lower frequency response doesn't concern me too much. I would have the RF-5's crossed over at 60 hz probably, the same as my RF-35's. I was basically just wondering about the midrange and high end differences. I have a feeling the RF-7's would be pretty bright without a seperate amp no matter which receiver you get and was wondering if the RF-5's would have that same effect and require seperates to tone down their harshness. The RF-35's really aren't too bright at all and could be even a little brighter for greater clarity and if the RF-5's would give me just that little bit of upper edge over the 35's it might be worth it for me. But if I couldn't achieve that without seperates for the RF-5's then indeed I would much rather just wait and get RF-7's and seperates later on when I'm older and have more money As for Ultimate Electronics, unfortunately they don't have the RF-5's or I'd probably already have them in my house right now trying them out. I love that 30 day return policy and it's sad to see them go as they're the only klipsch dealer in my area (Sioux Falls).
  15. I'm really wondering if I should upgrade my RF-35's to RF-5's before my 30 day return period is up at ultimate electronics. I could get the RF-5's on ebay for about $200 more. I'm wondering how much brighter the RF-5's will be with the HK AVR 430 receiver I'm using. I really don't want to get seperates so RF-7's are kind of out of the question but if RF-5's really do require seperates too to open them up then would I be better off sticking with the RF-35's? The only thing that worries me is I won't be able to hear the RF-5's before I get them and I do like the 35's but have a bad case of the upgrade bug. I suppose I could always get the RF-5's and move the RF-35's to the surround position down the road. I've read all of the past threads and while most prefer the RF-5's some people said the RF-35's sounded slightly better so who knows. Thanks for any suggestions!
  16. Yeah, that's crazy how there's so much variance on the wattage listed on the back of the RC-7's. Hopefully someone from Klipsch will clear this up Monday. Do you have your RF-5's as the side surrounds or rear center surrounds skonopa? I'm assuming by (A surrounds) you mean the sides. I only have a 5.1 setup with RS-25's in the back and if/when I move to 7.1 I'll probably go with some bookshelves to accompany them. Don't worry meuge, I never claimed klipsch speakers aren't worth the money as I love them and actually started getting into klipsch after I bought the original 4.1 promedias like 5 years ago. I just think they should make them more available to people that can't get them locally or for the people that can but have to pay close to retail because they won't negotiate like my stupid ultimate electronics. I doubt a lot of people care about being able to demo them if they're already familiar with klipsch products and would rather get them at a cheaper price. Also, the warranty really is quite useless unless you physically damage the speaker yourself by dropping it or whatever. I mean honestly, how many people have blown or damaged their speakers by listening to them? It really just comes down to giving consumers more options to obtain these wonderful speakers through "authorized" means.
  17. I did some reading into past threads and it looks like these unauthorized dealers get their products from authorized dealers that have too much stock or work a deal with them so they can buy a lot more product at a discount as a "joint" effort with the unauthorized dealer. The authorized dealers get rid of the serial numbers to prevent klipsch from ever tracking the unauthorized sale back to them. It all seems rather ridiculous to me. Klipsch's reasons against unauthorized dealers selling on the internet seem kind of stupid so in the end it must just come down to less money for klipsch with the unauthorized dealers selling cheap or there would be no reason they wouldn't allow it and support it. I bought my center from www.acousticsounddesign.com through ebay and they seem to be one of the most reputable unauthorized sellers.
  18. I suppose the silver and gold stickers are how you tell the difference then. I'm sure both are made by Klipsch but I'm wondering what the differences are that would entitle one to the gold sticker and another to a silver sticker?
  19. Weird, the sticker does say RC-7 on it also so I don't think it's a sticker for a different speaker and it's silver instead of the gold stickers that are on my RF-35's. I don't believe they're an authorized seller but ahh well I guess, it still sounds fine.
  20. Well I received my RC-7 yesterday and I must say it's sounds much, much better than the RC-35. No more boxy sound and Prologic II mode is actually useable now. It also pairs just fine with the RF-35's and while the RC-7 sounds a little better in the high end than the 35's the difference isn't as great as it was between the RC-35 and RF-35's which sounded just plain wrong together. One question though, I bought this center from acoustic sound design on ebay and on the sticker on the back it says max input power 125 watts. Shouldn't this say 200? Just want to make sure I didn't get screwed with a b stock speaker or something like that but it definitely looks genuine.
  21. You could be right as the RC-35 I bought was a display model at ultimate electronics and probably has been there since they came out. Unfortunately that's all they have and they're closing their doors soon. I tried to trade it in for a display model RC-7 which was all they had and they wanted $675 for it lol. They wouldn't negotiate prices at all since the liquidators had supposedly taken over. Talk about a joke, you'd think a store going out of business would be more inclined to actually sell stuff.
  22. Hey thanks RickB, I think yours was the post I saw about someone having an RC-7 with the RF-35's. When you say calibrate it right did you have to change any EQ settings or do you just mean the gain level in comparison to the RF-35's?
  23. lol, thanks for the reply. I've actually had a crazy case of upgradeitis lately but this new RC-7 will stretch my budget to the limits for now. I originally started out with an RB-25 system with an SVS PB10 sub and now it's an RF-35 system with an SVS 20-39 PC+ tube. You're right the RF-35's would make good surround speakers if I ever decide to get the RF-7's but then I would need more amplification and a lot more money so that's a ways down the road at least. As long as the RC-7 blends better with my Rf-35's than that muffled piece of junk RC-35 I'll be happy. I wanted to like it and tried blocking the ports and other various things but had no success. My HK AVR 430 doesn't have a seperate EQ for the center channel so nothing I can do on that end either. Ahh well, at least I got my money back for it. I actually searched and found another user with RF-35's and an RC-7 that liked them together so I guess I should just bite the bullet and get it. I'll post my impressions when I receive it later next week for other people who are maybe in the same position as me. Thanks again!
  24. Hi, I recently bought an RF-35 system and was really unhappy with the RC-35 so I returned it and got my money back. It really does sound out of place with the RF-35's and has the muffled, boxy sound that many others have described. I know the RC-3II would probably be a better match for the RF-35's but I'm strongly considering just getting an RC-7 as I've heard nothing but good things about it. Would the RC-7 match poorly with the RF-35's? I'm real happy with the RF-35's and don't feel the need to upgrade them so please no tempting me with suggestions about getting the RF-5's or RF-7's to go with an RC-7
  25. I second psg's comment. I love the bass management with my refurbished hk avr 430. It also sounds wonderful with my rf-35 setup. Those reconditioned models on ebay are such a great deal it's hard to pass them up if your budget is in the $500 range.
