From looking at the specs of your tv it looks like it only upconverts 480i sources to 480p I guess. A 480p source such as your progressive scan dvd player will be displayed at 480p on your tv. When I output 480p on my dvd player I can have my tv display it as 540p or 1080i. I've compared the two quite a bit and can't really tell any difference between them. You could try an upconverting player at 1080i but I honestly don't think you'll see much of a difference. Our tvs are small enough where it's harder to tell.

I'd just stick with what you have then as long as it's a good 480p player. I have a panasonic S97 which is considered a pretty good upscaling player but with my 51" hitachi rear projection it looks better to just use 480p out of my dvd player and let the tv upconvert it to 1080i. Plus I don't get macroblocking which is an annoying side effect of many upscaling dvd players.

Is that Mitsubishi tv you're using a rear projection? If so, an upscaling player won't do much good since the tv will probably do a better job. I've found the upscaling dvd players are suited more for fixed pixel displays like plasmas, dlps, lcd's, etc.

Those are good suggestions but unfortunately even if you raise the center level above the other channels the RC-35 is still going to have the same boxy, far away sound to it. I love Klipsch as well as the next guy but unfortunately the RC-25 and RC-35 just don't cut it. I've also tried the RC-10 and have the RCX-4 for my computer and those are both fine centers. I went through a lot of different Klipsch speakers at Ultimate Electronics before I got everything sounding the way I want. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the 30 day return policy and go get the RC-7.

That would more than likely be the problem of your center. I have the RF-35's and wasn't happy at all with the RC-35 so I went with the RC-7 and it made a world of difference. Don't worry about matching as it sounds just fine with the 35's. Trust me, spend the extra $200 or so and you'll be glad you did.

I agree with zamboniman. I'm sick of all this crap I hear all the time about how bad 1080i is compared to 720p. If 720p was so superior to 1080i more of the major networks would use it instead of wasting bandwidth with 1080i. They're both excellent formats.

If any of you guys like Cream I highly suggest checking out the Royal Albert Hall concert that was just released last week. Great performance, video quality, and sound quality. Just a warning though, it only has a stereo and DTS audio track on it. For you Rush fans they have a new one coming out soon called R30 from their 30th anniversary tour and I believe it will feature their show in Germany. Hopefully the few minor problems from Rush in Rio are fixed with this one. Rock on guys!

I think the RS-35's will do just fine with your system. My system consists of 2 RF-35's, RC-7, and 2 RS-25's and it sounds great. My center is at the same level as the RF-35's and I have my RS-25's a few decibels above them.

I was in the same dilemma Kriton and chose to keep the 2039 PC+. I think it just comes down to how loud you listen to your music/movies most of the time. If you go all out, crazy loud quite often go for the Ultra driver. Personally, my ears can't take it and while I do go quite loud sometimes, it's never loud enough to reach the limits of my sub or my receiver/speakers for that matter.

Awesome system, I'm sure it sounds amazing. How much did the tv stand bracket cost at best buy? I'm going to have the same problem of what to do with my RC-7 when I buy a DLP eventually. Could you please give me a link if it's on the bestbuy website?

meuge's setup looks great except spend the extra couple hundred bucks and make it the RC-7 over the RC-35. It is so much more worth it. And yes, $500 should be just fine for a receiver to run them. I'm using an HK AVR 430 which is about $400 refurbished on ebay directly from HK (with the same warranty as buying one retail). It powers my RF-35's, RC-7, and RB-25's just great. I've owned both the RC-25 and RC-35 and honestly they are just crap compared to the RC-7. Night and day difference, and RC-7 blends in just fine with the RF-35's, even better than the lower end centers.

If you're comparing boxes to boxes, yes. A tube however would not need as dense of material because it has to endure much less stress than a box because of it's cylindrical design.

Hmm, please tell me what other receivers allow you to set a different crossover point for each set of channels. I think I saw a couple when looking at receivers months ago like the Denons maybe but I can't remember. For most of them the crossover setting you select would only apply for all channels, so you couldn't have your rears at 80hz and your fronts at 40hz for instance. You should have money though, you're a speaker Dr. Oh wait, they don't get paid well do they? nm

I don't think you could go wrong with an SVS 25-31 PC+.

Yeah, the crossover settings on the HK's are amazing and the main reason I bought one. The AVR 430's and 630's on ebay directly from HK with warranty are a steal and I don't think the new 35 series offer anything notable over the 30's.

Get the RC-7 BetaTester. It will go great with your RF-5's. I've had every center in the klipsch reference line and none of them came close to the RC-7 and I use RF-35's for my mains.

HK AVR 430 with RF35's, RC7, and RS-25's. Sounds great and rarely have to bring the volume higher than -20 even for really loud rocking out sessions. Some of you guys must be half deaf turning it up to -5

Come on, the Rush in Rio dvd wasn't really that bad. It's most certainly not the best sounding concert dvd I have but it's not horribly bad either. Turn down your surrounds quite a bit and I think you'll enjoy it a lot more. Even though the crowd is mixed really loud as I'm sure that's how it was at the concert, on this dvd they're just too overpowering without turning down the surrounds. I saw them on that tour 3 times and I think the dvd captured it pretty well imho.

There is at least some good 70's bass. I love the bass sound on all of Rush's albums from the 70's. The remastered cd's sound great.

I'm listening to the Mars Volta - Frances the Mute album. Very progressive sounding and some of the most rocking stuff I've heard in a long time.

I agree with everyone, a better sub should be your top priority. I had a PB10 at first and while it was quite good for the money I knew it was just a taste and I wanted a bigger/better one. I sent it back and got a 20-39 PC+ tube and it has proved to be worth about twice the cost of the PB10. This is with a RF35/RC7/RS35 system running off an HK AVR 430. If I ever upgrade to RF7's I'll just add another PC+ tube. In your case I might just start off with the PC Ultra tube. I almost wish I had but couldn't bring myself to spend any more money as this home theater craze has made me spend far more than I originally intended
