  1. This guy must be on crack. I just left him a message regarding his statement that they originally retailed for $2449.00. He thinks he's gonna get $1500.00 for these. Who's gonna pay that when they can get a new pair of RF-7's for that price.
  2. Check out Incubus "The Mornig View Sessions". I know the mojority of the memebers may not be into this kind of music, but if you are, you can't beat the intimate audience and awsome acoustics by Michael Einzinger.
  3. I recently made the switch to Denon and have never looked back. I came across a great deal on a AVR-4802, which has never let me down, but I almost wish I waited for the 3805 to come out. It has the new Auto Room EQ and sexy new remote and 120w/ch. For around $1000.00, you can't go wrong with this receiver.
  4. Sorry, I hit "enter too soon" Anyway, I travel for a living and rarely get a chance to enjoy my HT and thought how awesome it would be to visit some forum members' HT's while on the road. I've spent a ton of time in this forum and can't believe how cool it is that we have been able to bond online. Anyway, I know its a long shot, but I will be in Austin, TX over the weekend and plan on visiting a couple of Klipsch dealers to see what's in store. Anyone want to show off their system to a complete stranger? Peace, Andy
  5. If you decide to use your thrid RF7 as a center, I'd be interested in taking one of your RC7's off your hands for a reasonable price.
  6. Rudy, I guess s**t happens. That's too bad. We all spend so much time and money on our equipment, thank god for warranties.
  7. Rudy, where do you have your sub set at for a volume? I keep mine at just under the 12:00 position. I couldn't imagine blowing the driver under normal listening conditions. Yeah, I hope my driver's not blown, but its good to hear that SVS was able to replace it for you. I've only had mine now for about a month.

If it sounds like a farting/fluttering pop, then you've exceeded the limits of the driver and are experiencing distortion. If you've got a pop that's fluttering/farting, then it's prob your amp clipping. Port noise sounds like wind. Sometimes it can portray itself like a whistle, other times it will sound similar to when your windows are just partially opened in your car. I might just have to record each of these sounds because once you hear each kind of distortion and know which is which, then you'll forever be able to tell what's happening. If you live anywhere near Chicago, I'd be willing to demonstrate each distortion as I find it to be fun (unless something breaks...cuz then it's a ton of fun) ---------------- Now that you mention it, the sound was similar to a "fluttering pop", it was short and quick and not very lound. So, you think this might just be either distortion or clipping? Is there any way to check for damage? It still sounds fine. Should I be concerned that this happened?
  9. Can someone explain how to audibly tell the difference between these three? I have a Denon 4802 that has a subwoofer peak limiter. When you run this test, it plays a low frequency sound and you are supposed to keep turning up the volume on the reciever until it distorts. Once it distorts, you press "enter" on the remote which will prevent the sub from distorting in the future. I was doing this test on my SVS PC+ 2039 and kept turning the volume up. It started getting extremely lound and shaking the hell out of my house, and then I heard a quick "pop". The "pop" wasn't very loud but it was very noticeable. My question is, was the sub bottoming, or was it port noise or amp clipping that I heard? Also, should I be concerned about this? The sub doesn't seem to be damaged and there is no way that I would ever need to drive the sub that hard again.
  10. As far as I can tell, the rf35 is just a newer look. The drivers are not exactly alike but sport the same size. I think someone said in another post that the crossovers are slightly different, too.
  11. by the way, I just changed my name. I'm no audiophile, who am I kidding? Just a sound freak like the rest of you.
  12. The thing with SVS is their price tag to performance ratio. I was shopping both the RSW12 and the SVS 2039 PC+. I was able to listen to the RSW at a local store and was very impressed. However, when I compared the significant difference in price I was leaning toward the SVS. Normally I would never buy something without auditioning it, but after spending a lot of time on this forum and not finding one negative comment about SVS, I ordered it. Once I had it connected I couldn't believe the performance of this sub. My dad was in town one weekend and took a listen, he is now a believer and just ordered one himself. My suggestion to you is visit www.svsubwoofers.com and take a look at the specs on their products.
  13. With universal disc players becoming widely available and at low prices, can anyone recommend one of these units? I'm looking to spend under $500.
  14. Does any know if the Furman power conditioners like the one pictured are OK to use with home theater gear? I know these are typically used to power musician's equipment, but has anyone used one of these in place of a Monster Power Center? They can be found on Ebay very cheap.
  15. Hillarious BBB, I've got to show this to my fiance. I'm sure she feels like I'm marrying my stereo sometimes.
  16. I was expecting the UPS guy to deliver my SVS PC+ 2039 today so I waited out on the driveway with a beer in hand. It finally arrived and I have had some time to play and so far this thing is simply amazing. I've decided to set all speakers to "small" and have it crossed over at 80Hz and let the bad boy handle the low stuff. These settings have really released the strain on my mains and now they sound so much better. After going through some DVDs to put the SVS through some hell, I put in LOTR the Balrog scene. I've watched this several times in the past but now I'm feeling and hearing things I didn't know existed. I was leaning back into the sofa with my legs resting on the coffee table and at some points I felt my bouncing around on the table. Also, I used to really dislike the Denon's 5 channel stereo mode when listening to music. But now, for some reason (speaker settngs to "small" and addition of the sub) I love it. I won't listen to music any other way. It used to sound "cluttered", just too much sound. It seems to have separated and the sound field has expanded. Oh, and get this, my fiance bought it for me. I just proposed to her last weekend and since I dropped so much coin on the ring she thought I should get something. This one's a keeper Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple pics of the addition. Don't make fun of my TV, I'm moving soon and have a 51" HDTV that will get hooked up in the new place.
  17. If I recall, 3 writers for HTM were asked to piece together a system for $5000. I think the Klipsch system was Reference 25 with an RW10.
  18. Don't take what I said the wrong way. There's no doubt that correctly positioned surrounds will definately sound better than in-ceilings. But who's got the money to spend on creating the "no acoustical flaws" dedicated home theater. Not me.

The one nice feature of the 3805 is the Room EQ with the optional mic...it works great. While you may have a tough time finding a 3805 for $900, you should be able to easily find a 3803 for under that budget. ---------------- How's the remote on that new 3805? It looks sweet. I have the Atkis touchscreen remote that came with my 4802, but its a bit bulky. I wonder if I could purchase the 3805 remote and use that instead.
  20. I think GPBUSA's sentance sums it up for me, "If I choose "LFE+Main" (with fronts set to Large) then each of the fronts gets it's own full range signal, in addition to the LFE signal. And the sub gets the LFE signal, in addition to the bass from the fronts." If this is true, then I don't see why anyone would want to choose LFE+Main. Can anyone tell me why you would want to send the LFE signal to the Main channels when and decent sub will do it better anyway?
  21. rckpls, let me get this straght. If I set my 4802 to LFE+Main, does this basically eliminate a crossover for the main channels? If I set it to LFE only, the main channels are cut at the crossover point? This shouldn't be this difficult to understand, but I'm struggling.
  22. I disagree. My friend uses Klipsch RCR-5's for his surrounds. He's got them placed in the ceiling and slightly behind the listening position. The good thing about these speakers is their tweeters are on a swivel so you can aim them toward the center of the room. I personally think they sound great and they please the wife as well.
