  1. Glad to hear it rhathawy!! Congrats!!
  2. I use the Omnimounts 30.0 (I think that's the model #) for wall-mounting a pair of RB 5II's. They have worked very well. I had to make some modifications to the mounting bracket so that the speaker wire could be passed to the speaker, but they look very nice. I made some other small modifications to the RB 5II's as well that would take some time to give all the details--just let me know if you have any questions.
  3. If music is your 1st priority, NAD is always a good option. The T773 used should be under $1500.
  4. I will second the dlp front projector, since you haven't made any purchases, yet. Your basement is ideal for this piece. It can throw a much larger highly detailed picture for the price. You won't be disappointed. Two subs would be AWESOME! For the long haul, a good outboard amplifier is a good investment, preferably 200 wpc or greater. Your processor is the piece that will likely be changed every so many years as new features/formats come out, so separates offer better flexibility. The DVD player, as said earlier, I would buy cheaper as the new HD DVD/BluRay formats are coming out soon.
  5. The cards have been good to you, then.
  6. The RC7's as surrounds would be the most consistent with the RF 7's as they have the same horn and tweeter. But all ideas would be just awesome. Your tax return must have been a chunk o' change as much as you're dropping on the HT lately. I can't help but be a little envious.

    Voom

go to avsforum.com. There is a thread there in the HDTV Programming section that will tell you all you want to know. Also when you enter the site, there will be a link to an article titled "Voom Goes Boom!". This will give you more information. As of 4/30/05, Voom will go dark. I am heartbroken---I loved my Voom.
  8. I think it would be a great idea to keep the Velodyne sub, and adding another would be awesome. But the idea that "most if not all" SVS subs are outperformed by the Velodyne is an extremely bold statement. I'd bet that you would be extremely impressed and pleased with a SVS sub. They are definitely worth a look. Since SVS is an internet-direct company, they are generally considered, by many, to be a better value than most other subs made. As for the rear surrounds, I have RB 5II's performing this role and am very pleased.
  9. You won't rotate the horn 180 degrees as this would be the same 90 degree by 60 degree dipersion as you start with. You will only need to rotate each tratrix horn 90 degrees and you should probably document it somewhere so that you would know at a later date (if needed) to rotate each horn back to its original position if you decided on a different setup. You will need a tool similar to an Allen wrench, but that has a star shaped end on it. I believe that they are sold at most hardware stores.
  10. I agree that RCA to RCA would likely be better. It's nice that your pre/pro has balanced outputs, and you could sell your amps and purchase some pro amps such as the Crown XLS series with balanced inputs. My problem is that I have a Denon 3805 with RCA pre-outs and a Crown XLS 402 with XLR inputs--RCA male to XLR male interconnects and now I have a hum in my system which I have pretty much narrowed down to being my interconnects. You would likely be better off to either go RCA to RCA or XLR to XLR.
  11. The RB 5II's are rear-ported as I have a pair. They are wall-mounted as my rear surrounds in a RF 7 setup. Your newer Klipsch Reference bookshelf speakers are all front-ported, I believe. As for wall mounting them, I used Omnimounts. Try doing a google search for these mounts, and maybe that will give you some options to consider.
  12. I've googled this Oppo HD971--can't find anything. Tried the extremephoto.com site--there's nothing there about "Oppo." Where did you hear about this player, and how can we learn more about it?

    Voom

It's my understanding that they will be offering a DVR within the next couple of months.

    Voom

got VOOM, and love it. We have some trouble getting all of our local channels with the OTA antenna they installed, but the PQ is stunning.

    RB-5IIs

I use RB 5II's as my rear surrounds in a 5.1 setup and couldn't be happier with their performance. $400 for the pair is decent deal. You should be more than satisfied with their performance for that price.
  16. I have a Denon 3805 receiver running my RF 7 setup, but would like to add an outboard amp to power them as well and have been considering a pro audio source i.e.--Crown XLS 402 as I have heard raves about them on the avsforum. Great power for the price, but I was unaware if anyone had attempted such a setup or had any opinions?
  17. I haven't seen the 4803, yet. Does it even exist?

    Adcom amps

Sorry to pick on ya Boomer but since I'm from Arkansas--you really mean Hope, AR instead of Hope, AK don't you? Unless there's a town named Hope in Alaska.

    Adcom amps

Well, the reason that I was asking is because I would like to get a 200 wpc 3 channel amp, but they are rarely found in my price range. I really don't want to go higher than $600 if at all possible, and this was an opportunity to get one. But I want it to sound right. I have hardwood floors and a lot of drywall in my HT/living room and I would rather have a smoother/warmer sounding amp to couple with these speakers. I have seen some Acurus amps in this price range with 200 wpc/3channels--how do they measure up on the whole with these speakers?

    Adcom amps

I have a Denon 3805 coupled with a RC 7, RF 7's, and RB5 II's for my rear surrounds. I like the features of the 3805, but would like to have some more headroom in the amplification area. How do Adcom amps, say the 5503, sound with these speakers?
  21. I haven't set anything up yet. I am waiting to get all materials in place because it will be quite a chore moving the entertainment center away from the wall in order to run wires and connect this to that, so on and so forth. I'm pretty much a noob to the entire HT scene, so I'm not exactly clear when you say "running the RB 5's off the highpass through your sub."
  22. The RB 5 II's are listed on their site as speakers that the Omnimount 30.0 can easily handle. They are heavy-duty stainless steel mounts and I ordered a pair last night. I'm praying that they work like I want them to. As for fabricating speaker mounts----I'm without a clue in that area, and don't even know someone who would. I'm hoping that setting the crossover high enough on the PB2+ will avoid any port "boom" the RB 5 II's would give.
  23. I have a pair of RB 5 II's that I would like to use as my rear surrounds in a 5.1 system with RF 7 fronts and RC 7 center and SVS PB2+ sub. I am seriously considering wall-mounting these speakers due to space constraints. I have a similar thread on another forum, and one suggestion was "Omnimount." I was wanting to hear from any members who have attempted this or from any who may have other suggestions on this topic. Any help is appreciated. Todd
