  1. It's time to tap into the underground economy.
  2. For nice sounding soundtracks get August Rush and Ray (the Ray Charles story).
  3. The SpeakerLab plans are good . I've used them to build several sets of bass bins. The nice thing about SpeakerLab design is that they can easily be be built with closed in backs like the 60th anniversary k-horns.
  4. That's some excellent work. I need you to give me some spraying lessons.
  5. Michael, I've run quite a bit of Hardiplank. I've found the best way to get a smouth cut on it is using a diamond blade mounted in a circular saw. The diamond blades can be fairly expensive if you buy one that you intend to use for a long time. But if you are just doing a small job there are some cheap throw away diamond blades that you can get fairly cheap. I've tried some of the shears but to me they make too rough of a cut, particularly if you are tring to do rip cuts around windows and doors. Make sure you wear a good quality resperator when cutting Hardiplank as the dust can be quite harmful. Don
  6. Very nice work. Thanks for the pictures.
  7. The widget that sold for $10.00 before the Fair Tax now sells for $ 10.00 because the 23% sales tax is offset by the 23% reduction in the embedded taxes that are now part of the cost of manufacturing and marketing of the widget. You may ask why would the seller of the widget drop his price on the widget? Why not just add the 23% embedded tax savings to his bottom line profit? The answer is marketplace competition. All it takes is one widget maker to drop his prices 23% in order to gain market share. One prime example of this is several years ago Congress forgot to reinstate a tax on airline tickets. The airline industry said great we can add this tax reduction to our bottom line. All it took was one airline to drop it's prices to reflect it's savings due to the lack of tax burden in order to gain market share. Within hours the rest of the airline industry was forced to drop their rates in order to stay competitive.
  8. All of Boortz's procedes from the book went to charities. Mark, pm me with your address and I'll send you a copy. You will not have to worry about contributing money to anybody.
  9. Again, you have not listened to Neal Boortz and you have not read the Fair Tax Book by Congressman John Linder . Therefore your opinions on on the Fair Tax are based on ignorance. You are getting your information from some crazed left wing site.
  10. You have never listened to Neal Boortz. If you had you could not have come to such absurd conclusions. Again read the text or shut the hell up.
  11. The Fair Tax Book by Congressman John Linder and Neal Boortz. It was a New York Times best seller. I suggest you read it before spouting off opinions about something that you obviously don't know shit about.
  12. Seen the movie August Rush? I watched it on HBO today. What a great movie this is if you are passionate about music. I cried like a baby at the end of it.
  13. Why don't you try hooking the cd player directly to the Mac and bypass the preamp altogether? I'm assuming the new 275s have gain controls like the old ones.
  14. I agree with Dean and Al on this one. The biggest improvment in sound quality that I could hear came with the switch from 401s and K-55s to Altec 511s and 902 drivers. I understand though that this is not an easy swap to make on stock K-Horns.
  15. Thanks guys. The grill frames as shown in the last two pics have the oil finish on them. I had to in order to install the grill cloth. My customer wants to oil the walnut himself. Maybe I can get some pictures from him after gets them finished and some drivers installed. The first two he's going to use are a pair of Altec 756 As and a pair of Western Electric 755 As. Has anybody listened to these?
  16. Finished product. The grill frames are held on with 2 embedded magnets at 12 and 6 o'clock. These will be finished with Watco Danish oil.
  17. Here's the assembled baffle and the grill frame cut to size.
  18. Here's what the 8'' and 10'' adapters look like. The outer ring has the same screw pattern as an Altec 604 which is the largest driver that can be mounted in the baffle.
  19. Here's the back supports for the baffle.
  20. Here's the rough grill frames glued and clamped.
