  1. I hope your back is ok. You move your equiptment around more than anyone I've seen. Different in every pic.
  2. I'm not trying to highjack your thread or anything, but maybe someone who comes here can clarify something for me as well. On the Kenny G -Duotones cd, track 9 - Esther there is a terrible distortion when the sax first starts playing, is this in the recording? Hope its not anything to do with my system
  3. Please visit Top 3 in the Home Theater forum.
  4. I bought a Denon 3803 not all too long ago for $850 brand new, factory warranty from a local authorized dealer making way for the 3805's. What you described sounds shady to me.
  5. Now this is what I'm talking about. Why don't you guys visit "Top 3" in the Home Theater forum.

    Top 3

I listen to music I like, plain and simple. It's an added bonus when those particular sources are of greater quality than the usual(do to recording, mixing, ect.). I know I would benefit from and like to try out, and I think other members also, peoples top choices in DVDs and CDs for sound quality. I know equiptment, room characteristics and so on have an affect but we all have one major thing in common, HORNS. Just list the top 3 DVD titles and top 3 cd titles in your collection, or a mix of each, you would like to recommend. DVD 1.Saving Private Ryan 2.Eagles - Hell Freezes Over 3.Eric Clapton - MTV Unplugged CD 1.Bob James - Joy Ride 2.Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (reissue 1997 sony, first three tracks are in the right pitch, plus addition alternate version of Flamenco Sketches) 3.AC/DC - Back in Black
  7. Hey colter, my friend has actually been looking around for R-35s and R-5s. If you dont want them we do not live to far from Indy and he said we could take a ride up there tomorrow to pick them up. We sent you a PM today. Please let us know either way.
  8. hey cj, you have surround processing with that seperate setup? Im in the market for a 2 channel amp(B&K 200.2) and am having doubts about the movie sound in surround formats with the mains on differnt amplification.
  9. I had to tell a buddy who owns a pair of bose about the terminology I ran across recently (here). Blose ...hehe
  10. Ok, so the only conceivable arguement for the "Klipsch" biwire is the bass feedback to the wire. So I will take my chances and save my money. Besides I biwired mine once with just two stands of standard wire (good luck getting them in the amp/receiver terminal that way, very thick wire) and could not tell a bit of diference. I have since switched back to single w/ bananas.
  11. I'm simply stating observations and sincere questions. I am truely clueless. It just seems that Klipsch manuals and their design are misleading the novice.
  12. She was talking about audio equiptment, right?
  13. Also on the mislead path, If the signal in the top speaker terminal and bottom speaker terminal go to the same crossover, and not top to high and bottom to low, then why the jumper in between? If the terminals were seperated then yes a jumper if only one wire was ran, so both highs and lows in the speaker were fed. But if they go to the same place then just one speaker terminal(either one) would suffice without the jumper because they are going to the same place anyway. But yet the mysterious jumper is present. hmmmmm Can you clarify this? or am I hopless?
  14. I think I am really leaning towards the B&K, but I will also check out the Rotels before I purchase. A dealer not too far sells them both. It wont be long and that big gap in the rack will be filled. whewwww doggies! My mother always said, "EZ, gaps are unacceptable."
  15. Yes, I also considered-auditioned the marantz. It was a hard decision this is a nice unit also.
  16. Thank you. These are KLF 20s
  17. This is my setup right now.
  18. Got mine for $850 brand new. the Denon 3805 is replacing it and the store is trying to get rid of their inventory.
  19. The Denon 3803 uses 2 burr brown DACs for each channel (7.1)< one of the things that caught my eye>. It has the option of sending the full freq. range to your mains and sub(even in 5.1 and DTS), then just setting the cross on your sub for its cross or not-for movies. It also features a Pure Direct mode which shuts down all video circuits and things not being used for better 2 channel quality. I love this receiver and run it with KLF 20's also.
  20. This is from another post on the same subject. The KLF 20 and KLF 30 are equipped with two pairs of input terminals to facilitate a bi-wire or bi-amp hookup. In both cases, seperate speaker cables are used to carry the "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency signals INDEPENDENTLY to each speaker. This results in a reduction in distortion and an increase in clarity and detail. In a bi-wire hookup, the "HIGH" and "LOW" are connected to the same channel of one power amplifier. In a bi-amp configuration, the "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency cables are connected to separate amps. This type of hookup can increase the dynamic range of your system because of the potential increase in available power for "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency drivers. It also allows the use of two amps with different tonal qualities to be used for the "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency ranges. This is out of my KLF 20 manual, it clearly states the highs and lows and carried independantly. Isnt this kinda misleading??
  21. oh, sorry. I have a pair of KLF 20 and I was just quoting the manuals use of terms. This type of hookup can increase the dynamic range of your system because of the potential increase in available power for "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency drivers. It also allows the use of two amps with different tonal qualities to be used for the "HIGH" and "LOW" frequency ranges. Ok my fingers are tired. But you see where I got that from. If yromj is right thats kinda misleading isnt it?
  22. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I thought it was interesting that the Best Buy by my house started carrying the new line of Klipsch. Only the lower models of the Reference though. They said they cannot order any higher models. Thats the first time I've seen them in a department store. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does this say something about the direction of quality and marketing that Klipsch is going in?
  23. Damon, any ideas on the Rotel VS. B&K ?
