  1. I would think that glass would be better than acrylic because acrylic tends to attract static electricity. That is one of the reasons why people that buy those acrylic computer cases have problems with motherboards, processors, memory, and other components failing. Oh well, just my 2 cents.
  2. Just curious, how does 3 subs out-perform 80 subs? Also, it is true that you can have one sub or 13 subs in any size room and still have it sound good. It all depends on how you have the gains and crossovers set. I've got twin - dual 15" subs in my system, and it sounds perfect, not overpowering. (check out my System Profile) One more thing, I was just wondering what brand of 18" sub you are thinking about going with. Again, I'm just curious.
  3. Yes, yes! Welcome and congrats on the Forte's!!

Funny thing is, eventhough they have different crossovers and one tweeter missing the phase plug, I really can't hear that much of a difference, but would like to make them equal partners. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif"> ---------------- The speaker in pics 2 & 3 was made on the 8th day of 1997. Three year difference?! That's crazy. I wonder how that could have happened.
  5. Say, who are you referring to as MrSubwoofer?!
  6. 100?????!!!!! I think I've only got 1 or 2. Even then, I think it was from the same person.

  8. Here's a few pictures of some things I noticed about these two KG 5.5s yesterday while I had them apart cleaning them up a bit. Pictures 1 and 2 show a small phase plug in one of the tweeters and not one in the other..... Pictures 3 and 4 show two different crossovers in each one..... 9. LOL!!!! Thanks NOSValves! Thebes, I actually got that rack off of eBay new. But here's the site of the guy who builds them. He will even build racks to your specs. In fact, sometime down the road, I'm gonna have him build me a custom matching amp rack for my Aragon. It's just that I keep forgetting about it! Anyway, here's the link..... http://www.adonacorporation.com/ BTW, how in the heck do you get these links to be clickable instead of cut & paste?!?!?!
  10. Here's my old one I used to use all the time!! Seriously, ask my bro!!
  11. Got the KG 5.5s hooked up and running fullrange. I've played several different CDs already, including the new Diana Krall cd, (which isn't very good if you ask me), and these speakers sound great with everything I put through them. I just got done watching the last Matrix movie as well. These loudspeakers really do put out some excellent bass, even at high volume levels!!! BTW, these TracTrix tweeters are much smoother than the ones in the KG 3.2s, by a long shot!

  13. Man, and I thought I was doing good getting a pair of mint KG 5.5s for $250. They may not be free, but it's still a great deal. Anyway, congrats on the excellent free KHorns! Let those babies "break" in that new house of yours!
  14. YAAAAA-HHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Guess what guys/gals?! Tomorrow, I'll be the very proud "parent" of a mint pair of black KG 5.5s! My bro "jt1stcav" and I will be going to meet this swell guy tomorrow afternoon at a halfway point in Tampa to pick them up. I got these things at such a great deal, too. I actually couldn't believe it when he called me back today and said it was a go! I'll take some pics of them and post them when we get them home and hooked up.
  15. If you or anyone else has any more questions, please feel free to ask away! BTW, what in the world is a "WAF"??!!
  16. Since I'm not running them fullrange anyway, that may change things a bit also.
  17. Oh yeah, why would they be less satisfying than the 5.2's with jazz?!
  18. Well I stand corrected. The first and last time I heard Sunfire subs is when they first came out. And no matter where or how I set them up in any size house or system, they always sounded that way. I'm glad to hear that they have improved!
  19. Isn't it only the Cornwall II's that the drivers were mounted from outside the enclosures? That's what I thought anyway.
  20. Well that's a good thing to hear! Hopefully, if things go as planned, I'll be getting these maybe this weekend, if not next weekend. Any other thoughts out there?
  21. I was just wanting to know what your opinion is on the difference between these two speakers. I'm not looking for things like how much louder one is, or how much lower it can go, because they will only be playing down to 90Hz. My main concern is the difference in the midrange and treble. My friend has a pair of the KG 5.2s, and they sound pretty darn good eventhough he doesn't have them set up properly. I would imagine the midrange on the 5.5s would be a little fuller sounding, and from what I can tell of my friend's 5.2s, that TracTrix horn tweeter sounds alot smoother and sweeter than my 3.2s. Any thoughts on this?!
  22. Well, set the crossover points on the subs so they start in where the towers fall off. If the phase control on those subs are continuely variable anywhere between 0 and 180 degrees, then try different amounts of phase for each sub. The phase will probably not be exactly the same for both since they will be in different locations in the room.
  23. Actually, what I have done in past istallations with very good results is.... Place one sub in a corner, as usual. Then, walk around the room while playing some bass and find the "null" in the room along the walls. Once you find that spot, place the other sub in that location. After tweaking the settings on both, you should have a pretty smooth responce throughout the listening room.

  25. Oh yeah!!! I almost forgot the most important picture of all!!!!!!! This is what she was doing when I was play Jimmy Buffet's Banana Wind cd at pretty high volume levels! She was under my right Maggie! Silly kittie. Look how happy she is!!!!
