  1. Went shopping last week, it was an explosion of holiday ornaments
  2. Whether something is offensive isn't the issue, or whether it should or shouldnt be considered offensive. The issue is whether people can discuss a tragedy on here without bringing in race, religion, or politics. I dont think they can.
  3. But Michael, What if a non group of near militia members come to a zoo near you? What then?? Huh buddy? Roger Shoot the lion first

  5. At least I think I got you to understand it really PC that governs this forum, it is corporate "corectness" that counts in a global economy, and Klipsch doesn't need any comments in a public forum that could be construed as being derogatory against any individual or group based on race, religion or gender. Keep trying, you will get there. I'm still trying to understand your issues against Militia groups. And why is it okay, in your mind, to connect it to seemingly nefarious purposes but not any other group? It had nothing to do with militia groups, that was simply an attempt to draw him out about the "group" he was afraud of. I thought it was a pretty tranparent aspersion towards a particular racial/religiius group, in a thread where you were attempting to to focus on recent tragic events. I was just pointing out it is inappropriate for this forum. You have seen where theeads go where someone is trying to express sincere thoughts about a tragedy. Someone will always try to interject their unsolicited "answer" into the discussion. I wasn't going to just let it hang there.
  6. Well I just have to quote this so it never goes away. Do words really hurt people? Hmmmmm?

  8. At first I thought you were obtuse, but you are simply transparent. It must really suck having that great document, the Constitution, in your way all the time. I have an idea, lets do what we did after Peral Harbor and grab people on this country that look like our "enemy" and round them up and put them in camps. I think you are on to something here.
  9. That's what I thought you meant, that is why I brought it up. Just didn't want there to be any confusiob.
  10. Oh no, you go read Chad's message at the top of this section. Go read the terms of service. There is no "politically correct" on this forum, just correct. So here is yiur chance to correct it, you are not fearful of a group based on race or religion are you? You do understand when you use the word "group" it raises red flags right?
  11. The other thing people forget is that Nixon instituted a price and WAGE freeze. Think about that for a moment, and whose backs they were trying to strap "runaway" inflation on. It was 6% at the time.
  12. Point remains the same. Dave It does, but there is a world of difference between Nixon and Ford. God forbid someone reading this thread comes away with the misunderstanding that that colossal economic blunder was the fault of Ford and not Nixon.
  13. You have a militia group near you? Ah, no, that's not what teaman meant, I am fairly sure. But why don't we let teaman explain just exactly what he did mean? I hope he explains it, the casual reader might assume he is alluding to race, religion or gender when he says "group." I am sure in couldn't be that. Nobody is that ignorant is this day and age are they?
  14. You have a militia group near you?
  15. It was Nixon, not Ford, who instituted price controls to try and curb inflation. Ford dropped them except for gas.
  16. One last time. There is a formula which won Milton Friedman a Nobel Prize. Please look it up to gain a more than simplistic idea of inflation. I'm only asking because if there is to be a discussion using economic terms, it is far better for everyone if they speak the same language. What is the fun in that? It would make it so people cannot repeat what they heard the night before on cable news. The effort to read a noted authority on economic science, and make up one's own mind about whether it holds water would result in becoming informed. It is easier to reside in "the bubble."
  17. I don't think anyone on here has, but I believe I remember reading somewhere that JFK turned down his presidential salary.
  18. How much did you pay for a Snickers bar in 1978? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? To answer your question they started out at a dime, then to a quarter, then 35 cents and the 50 cents and the a buck. In 1978 i nelieve they were either 35 or 50 cents. Impossiple to say how much of the rise on prces were due to labor costs such as sugar orthe main ingredients to makw chocolate. I met Mr Mars a few times when he wwas lieavìilg in the Las Behas area. Intrstering man, interesting home. I believe his workers did much better than minimum wage. Hos main business mobel was to use quality ingredients but very low coast packaging.
  19. What?I hope you're not driving? Mark That was pretty bad, even for me. "Send one of them" is what I was hoping to say. I would have sent Joe my cassette to cassette player so he could Dub a set for the musuem. Maybe Ibiza could use them for an independent study course and produce a paper. That could possibly turn into a dissertation or thesis later on. Laura Hildebrand turned a WW II survival story into a new art form of biography with her book Unbroken. The National WW II musuem is in New Orleans, Louisiana. I know an academic historian would have to go a considerable effort to verify what information is on those tapes. It would be interesting to see what all is involved in that process. Travis
  20. My concern is how fast we're talking about doing it. You more than double it overnight, which I'm not sure has ever happened before, and you're going to send certain industries into shock. Well again, this cycle is pretty much identical to how it has been raised everytime in the past. One side starts with a number, the other side says no, and they end up somewhere lower than what was initially sought. If a raise in minimum wage results in higher prices there should be plenty of data on it.
  21. Really dude? What's that all about? Real world examples from my own business:1. Loggers make less than $15 an hour on average. Lumber just went up if you raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. 2. Once the trees are cut, the sawmill people can make less than $15 an hour. Some make more but some don't. Lumber just went up again. 3. Gas station employees typically make less than $15 an hour, gas will go up to pay them more. Ship that lumber from Oregon to Missouri and guess what's going to happen? Right. Lumber just went up again. 4. Even though they could since it's based on piece-part, most people building trailers probably don't make $15 an hour. But, if we want better wages, these guys need a raise too, right? So the cost of building a trailer even after you have the materials just went up. 5. A dealer buys the trailer then pays a girl to work in the office. I seriously doubt these folks make $15 an hour on average. So not only does he raise prices to pass on the increased price that the manufacturer gave him, but he raises it a little more to pay the secretary. Same with chicken farms. 1. I doubt factory farm workers are making $15 an hour. Chicken just went up. 2. Sell those chickens to Tyson. Seriously doubt the guys doing the butchering are making $15 an hour. Chicken just went up again. 3. Sell those chickens to a grocery store. The store clerk definitely isn't making $15 an hour. So the store passes on the prices from Tyson as well as a little more to pay for the clerk. Yes, every level. Lots more people are touching consumer products than just the retail clerk. They're not all straight up minimum wage but if you more than double it there will be lots of people that will be affected. My original statement at least meant that every level of the supply chain is increased, not every level of the economy. But, realistically, it probably is. When inflation occurs, the top dogs don't just absorb it, they just make it worse if they can get away with it. Your assumptions are off base. http://work.chron.com/much-money-loggers-make-6803.html Not to argue your point for you, but what you need to find is a reputable source that says prior increases in the minimum wage resulted in inflation. Giving examples that don't match reality only cause the argument you are trying to advance to move in reverse. Reputable source based on historical data.
  22. Send ine if them to WWII musume in NOLA, they have an oral history curator
  23. For a good cheap one, https://rebelyellbourbon.com/#family You are in good company if you like that one.
  24. Never tried that. I drink Bookers, since 1991, and Pappy's when I can find it, which is rare these days. I don't think the vanilla is going to be close to the vanillin in Pappy's and Bookers.
