  1. I think I'd stick with the RW-12d. If you're going to upgrade, you should get something that's in a whole different league.
  2. You know "Reference" isn't synonymous with floorstanding speakers, right? They make "Reference" center channel speakers too Looks good... Probably lots of weight on that TV. There have been others to use the floorstanders as a center, I don't think I've seen one turned on its side though. Many use them with AT projector screens. I am still thinking about selling me RC-62 to get a third RF-62 for my AT screen. Good job!
  3. They're probably just clearing stock. I don't think they even make them in cherry anymore.
  4. I have a similar setup as you, just a different center (RC-62). I have also had an RPW-10 when my RB-51's were my mains. I did like the sub with the RB's, however, I think it is highly inadequate for the RF-62's. I now have 2 RW-12's.
  5. I went BD about a year ago with my LG combo drive. Why did I do it??? I wanted HD and I didn't want to be screwed if I chose the wrong format. I know have 4 BD players in the house; 2 HTPC's, 1 desktop and a PS3. I'm just waiting for audio to catch up on HTPC's. Instead of buying a $200+ sound card to bitstream, I'll wait until I can get a video card that can support bitstreaming... How ever long that is, I'm sure my 8800GT SSC will suffice for now (light gaming). I currently just us SPDIF... No need to buy a sound card for that.
  6. I was trying to match my surrounds with my rears, so I have RB-51's for both. My fronts are RF-62's and RC-62 (and 2 RW-12d's). I have thought about trying RS-52's for the surrounds, but I don't know if it is really worth it at time time for me to switch.
  7. The grilles were just taken off for the picture, however, I'm wanting to limit the clutter (black or not). With and AT (acoustically transparent) screen, and RF-62 for the center would be perfect as it would be a perfect tonal match for the other two speakers. Here's a pic with the grilles on... Still cluttered IMHO. Here's a quick sketch of what I was thinking...
  8. Clinton, you have me thinking... I am building my theater right now, however, after testing the speakers up front, I think it's just too busy up front with all my speakers. I was thinking of building a false wall like you have, with the only exception of running an SmX AT screen to put the center behind (I may sell the RC-62 and get another RF-62). I was planning a 100" screen, however, I may up it to 110". Here's the clutter I'll have now when the basement is done... I would like a clean look, but I also hate hiding these nice looking speakers.
  9. I've moved and I'm now upgrading!!!
  10. If it is a learning remote, then you'll need an IR to copy, correct? If so, you might be better of getting a Logitech Harmony as can work with the sub natively (normal setup with PC). The other option is to find someone with it and have them load it into the remote and then you can use the IR learning function.
  11. I went ahead with the Pioneer... I'll have it later today. I may add a 2-channel amp to the RF-62's in the future.
  12. I can't really compare and engine to an A/V receiver, even if it is the same brand. Sony makes great TV's, but they lack in speakers. I do like Yamaha's and if it weren't for the BTB and WTW issues, it would have been a no brainer. It has been a HUGE complaint on other forums and I'd hate to later wish I had purchased the unit that didn't clip these. Does anyone see this to be a real issue... I may even hook my HTPC through this if the hardware ever catches up with HDMI and computers. I don't mean to push away the other brands like an arse, but I am only contemplating between these to receivers. I do appreciate the help!
  13. Guys, I'm not looking at any other receiver other than the two I indicated in my original post. Thanks,
  14. Howdy.... I have a buddy that will be getting me a receiver on Monday at his cost (I have to get it Monday) and I am torn between 2 receivers they sell (these are the only two in consideration at this point). My system is the RF-62 Home Theater System and I'm trying to decide between the Yamaha RX-V1800 or a Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH for movies and 2.0/2.1 channel music. My last receiver was a Yamaha RX-V661 with some RB-51's and I really liked the sound. I was pretty much sold on the RX-V1800 due to reviews and past experiences, until.... I read that the Yamaha clips video and will not pass BTB and WTW. Since HDMI is video and audio in one, I'm pretty much forced to run HDMI into the receiver. The Pioneer VSX-92TXH does NOT clip video like the Yamaha. I've played with the Pioneer in the store, however, the setting was less than optimal to really gauge how well it would work for me. Currently, I'll be running the Xbox 360 and a PS3 through the receiver... My HTPC will have video run directly to the projector and analog audio for now (until a capable sound card comes out). I'm not sure how much the clipping issue will affect me at the moment, so this why I'm torn. I want a great sounding receiver with my speakers regardless. I would also like to NOT have video clipping either. Anyone have experience with either or both of these receivers? I'm looking for input from Klipsch users. Thanks,
  15. $500 isn't a horrible price for a used sub considering it is in like-new condition, however, I agree that you can find it for cheaper if you look around... And even NEW! I purchased my RPW-10 off of ebay for $200ish + shipping and it did not have a manufacturer warranty, however, it was new and performed like it should. I recently sold it and have purchased a new RW-12d with warranty, but I'm not going to tell you how much I paid as it was rediculously low.

  17. Thanks for the help fellas. I put my order in with my buddy and later today I'll have a new set of RF-62's, RC-62, and RW-12d for a total of $975 + tax. I'll be using my RB-51's as surrounds and will later pick up another set of RB-51's for rears. In a few weeks, I'll pick up the Yamaha RX-V863 for about $500 from the same guy. All-in-all... It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I can't complain about the price as I will not want to upgrade speakers for probably 10 years or more (receiver/amp is a different story). I don't think I'll be dissappointed!
  18. It will be 7.1... The theater is going to be setup that way with this in mind. I can afford the RF-62 package, I'm just trying to make sure it is going to be worth the extra cost. There wouldn't be much point in buying the RS-52's for surrounds when I already own a pair of RB-51's that I was planning on using. I think I'll go with the the RF-62 setup after all. Pictures will be a while off... I'm not moving until June and I'm picking this stuff up now as I can get it for so cheap.
  19. Let's say I go with the RF-62's (with RC-62), would the amp I was planning on purchasing do the trick (Yamaha RX-V863) be sufficient? With the above setup, I am still torn on the sub. I currently do not know what size my room is going to be as we are looking into houses for when we move in June. The house we are currently looking at has a decent sized finished basement with bar. I'm planning on going with a Epson 1080UB projector for my setup. It'll be 50% movies, 40% games, 8% music, and 2% TV/sports. So, it would be between the RW-10d and RW-12d. Would the 10d be able to keep up?
  20. I'm not trying to match an RC-52 with and RF-62.... I'm wondering if the RC-62 will be a better match for the RB-61's
  21. No, no Heritage speakers. My parents have La Scala's that they bought new in 1981 and I'm not looking for anything like that. Would anyone here think that the RC-62 would be a better match (instead of the RC52) for the RB-61's?
  22. Howdy, I've got a chance to get Klipsch speakers at half price (not all of their lineup, but a good chunk of it). The place I'm getting them from does not carry the original speakers I was looking at (RF-52), so now I'm trying to build a system. I have sold most of my old setup, but kept a set of RB-51's that I'll use for the rear (pick up another set for surrounds). For the fronts L/R, I have been considering either the RB-61's or RF-62's. According to Klipsch, the matching center for the RB-61's is the RC-52 and for the RF-62's the matching center is the RC-62. To me, it seems like the RC-62 should be matched with either of these. I like the idea of the floor standing speakers with the larger center, however, Klipsch recommends the RW-12d instead of the 10" version. I'm not sure I want or even need the 12" version. Anyway, my thoughts are of the following: Front L/R – RB-61 Center – RC-52 Rear/Surround – RB-51 x4 Sub – RW-10d or Front L/R – RB-61 Center – RC-62 Rear/Surround – RB-51 x4 Sub – RW-10d or Front L/R – RF-62 Center – RC-62 Rear/Surround – RB-51 x4 Sub – RW-10d or Front L/R – RF-62 Center – RC-62 Rear/Surround – RB-51 x4 Sub – RW-12d Any thoughts? If I want them, I have to get them tomorrow, so quick help is appreciated.
  23. Awesome, thanks for the links. I'm looking to buy a projector this year. I've been looking at the Epson 1080UB mostly.
  24. The way I understand it... You do get surround from the same input, but with a different source? What surround mode are you selecting? I have a V661 and I know it has a button on the remote that says, "surround decode". If you cannot get it to work at the receiver level, there may be a setting within the DVD player itself. Just a thought...
