  1. Happy Birthday beeker!!
  2. Rumor has it that 'ol Willie Nelson's looking to move to Colorado... lol.....
  3. So, did you visit your local dispensary yesterday?
  4. Thanks to each person that purchased some of these from me!! They are all now officially:
  5. Christmas Special: $30 shipped for these 4 remaining titles Sold. PM me where to send the money order. PM sent...
  6. I've had a couple of Denons as well: AVR-3801 & AVR-3310CI. I really liked those as well, they both sounded great, and also never let me down, though I didn't own the 3310 for all that long, and I have read where those have had HDMI board issues as well.
  7. The best price I could find was $799 shipped (World Wide Stereo through Amazon), or $400 off original price since it has been replaced by the 1030. I have been looking at several others in the past week including the Marantz SR6007, Sherwood Newcastle R-972, and Onkyo TX-NR809, and a couple others. The Sherwood scared me away with all the bugs it appears to have, and it didn't have a phono input, though it was a great deal @ $499 shipped. The Onkyo was also $499 shipped, but I am too scared to purchase any recent Onkyo, with all the HDMI board failures they've been having. The Marantz was closest to the Yamaha as far as price ($699 refurb from A4L) and features I wanted. I ultimately chose the Yamaha, because I'm a huge fan of their gear, as they are (IMO) some of the best looking, well built, EXTREMELY RELIABLE, and excellent sounding receivers ever built. I've owned more Yammies than I can recall, and they've never let me down. I was also willing to go used to save some cash, but couldn't find anything that blew me away on Audiogon or Craigslist, and I don't have an Ebay/PayPal account. Besides, I like the piece of mind of having something new, with a warranty.
  8. Now that's funny right there!!
  9. I had one of the best Christmas' ever this year: 1. Time with family. 2. A new job to start 2014 off with. 3. A new SVS SB12-NSD subwoofer from my beloved mother. 4. After selling enough things to purchase it, I just ordered a new Yamaha RX-A1020 receiver. Since getting the sub last week, I needed something with bass management. I was previously using an R-S700 stereo receiver, and while it had a sub out, it had zero bass management, and was not ideal. Plus, it has a few other features that I needed/wanted: Digital out connection, good quality DAC's with opt/coax inputs, and HD radio.
  10. *Possible sale pending* I'll update as soon as I know for sure...
  11. Of course, it would also make a nice pre-amp, if anyone had concerns about a possible issue with the amp section...
  12. Christmas Special: $30 shipped for these 4 remaining titles
  13. Thanks for the plug. It sounds much more powerful than 70 wpc to me, likely due to the high current capability. FYI: I paid $125 for it (plus about $30 in gas to go get it) when I purchased it, and gave my friend $75 to buy it back (sold it to him for $100), so I'm losing money, just trying to recover some of it back...
  14. Here's a nice early to mid 90's Harman/Kardon HK6650R integrated amp. It had an msrp of $800 when new. It is in pretty nice condition for its age. It has pretty nice build quality, and I love the feel of smooth operating controls. If it matters to anyone, it was Made In Japan. Here's the scoop: I purchased the amp locally several months back, and in the 3 months I used it in my setup, it performed flawlessly and sounded great. I then sold it to a friend who used it for a couple of months, until he purchased new Parasound separates. I then got it back from him. He said that it was running pretty warm lately, so when I got it back I pulled the cover off to check the DC bias and offset. Everything measured OK, except the bias was a bit high in one of the channels (can't remember which one now). I figured I could adjust it to within spec, and that would make it run cooler. I was not able to get it within spec, and I don't have the skills or equipment to diagnose or repair it (if it is even anything to worry about?). Now, I ran it for 2 days after this, and while it runs pretty warm, I wouldn't say it runs overly hot. If you are familiar with recent Onkyo A/V receivers, I'd say it runs about as warm as they do. Also, when I used it for 2 days, it didn't appear to affect sound quality at all. With that, I'm selling it cheap in the event that it either needs repair now or in the near future. No remote, but I will include a downloaded/printed copy of the owner's manual. My asking price is $50 plus actual shipping fees. Postal Money Order/Certified Check preferred, but I'll accept a personal check and ship after it clears. Some Specs: Continuous Power (20-20,000Hz, both channels driven): 8 ohms - 70 watts at .08% THD, 4 ohms - 100 watts at .08% THD HCC (high-instantaneous current capability): +/- 70 Amps Signal to noise ratio: Phono (MM) - 80db Phono (MC) - 76db Main In - 110db Dimensions: 17-1/2"W x 5-1/4"H x 15-11/16"D Weight: 24.7 lbs

Thanks for the free bump!! Since the unit is still in my setup, I couldn't take pics of the rear panel as I always do when selling something, so here's one I "borrowed":

    *SOLD*

Since incorporating a sub into my setup, I have decided I need/want something with better bass management, along with room correction software, and the ability to adjust the sub level on the fly with the remote. Therefore, I am selling my minty Yamaha R-S700 receiver to help fund something else. It is only a few months old, and comes from a smoke/child/pet free home. As you can see in the photos, I have made some wooden side panels to give it more of that retro look. Given my lack of woodworking skills and (more importantly) proper tools, I think they turned out nice, and look much better in person than the pics show. The only thing I'm not terribly happy with is the front edges are a bit rough. I could only sand them by hand when I made them, and I was going to pull them back off one day and take them to a buddies house and do a better job on his belt sander. If the person that buys the receiver wants them, I'll throw them in for free. If not, I'll toss them. Some highlights/specs: 100 watts per channel min. RMS (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20,000kHz, 0.019% THD) Damping Factor - 240 or more S/N ratio - 87 db phono, 107 db CD direct 17-1/8' x 6" x 15-1/4" Weight 24.7 lbs. Preamp out/main in jacks Sub out 12 trigger Sirius satellite ready Detachable power cord Zone 2 control The receiver will ship in the original box, with remote, power cord, manual, and AM/FM antennas. My asking price is $299 plus actual shipping costs, Postal Money Order/Certified Check are my preferred methods of payment, but if I know you I'll accept a personal check. Thanks for looking, and Merry Christmas!! (My camera battery was about to die, so I had to rush on the photos, so they are not my best)
  17. No doubt, kinda like those Amazon drones.. Cool toy!! On another off topic subject, I hope nobody here has had fraudulent charges made to their credit/debit card accounts due to the Target hack......
  18. Yesterday, I was waiting for two separate packages to arrive, one was my new subwoofer from FedEx, and the other were a Y-connector for the sub, along with some GLS locking banana plugs from UPS... The sub arrived without issue. A little while later I checked the tracking on my UPS package. It showed that it had been delivered, but that it was left on the front porch of a house in a town about 30 miles from me. Puzzled, I went outside to check and sure enough, it was not there. In a panic, I immediately entered into a chat with an Amazon customer service representative, and he said that he could issue a refund to my debit card if I wanted. I told him I really wanted those items and asked him if he could just re-ship them to me. He stated that since the locking banana plugs were sold by GLS, he could only issue a refund for those. I didn't understand this, because while they were sold by GLS, there were in Amazon's warehouse and shipped by them. At this point, I was a bit frustrated and just told him to refund the total for both items to my card. He said he would do so, and in a couple of hours he'd send me an email to confirm... Right after ending the chat with him, I had to head to the store for a loaf of bread. On my way home, I decided to glance over and look on the front porches of some nearby houses. The house to our immediate right side (about 50 yards away) that had just been sold and was empty, I saw a small box on the porch. I got out of my truck and looked, and indeed, it was my package. I don't know why it showed that it was delivered to another town, and I've never had anything like this happen before. Anyhow, I was happier than a body builder directing traffic (love those commercials ), Yee-Haw!! Then, I log on to my computer and saw that I had gotten the confirmation number for my Amazon refund. Being a person of high moral values, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. A part of me tells me to let Amazon know. But, another part of me says to keep it to myself (the value of the items was/is $33 and change). As someone who regularly spends $2,000-3,000 a year on Amazon (though not this year with my being unemployed), I am leaning towards the latter at this time..
  19. Heck yeah man, I remember as a teen watching both it and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert shows late at night on weekends. Those were the days!!
