I am sure your new set up will be KILLER also. But mine will kill "MOST SYSTEMS". There is a lot of junk out there. My dad is bigger than your dad...[]

I say keep it simple. My B&K 2 channel amp system matched with my Forte 2 speakers will KILL most surround systems as far as sound quality. If I bought any amp that was high doller, it would be a beautiful MACINTOSH with the pretty blue meters.

While viewing HD Satellite broadcast at Circuit City and compairing 720P vs. 1080P...The 720P Panasonic Plasma Flat Panel TV's had the better picture quality to me.

This movie is a must see...here's the web site. http://www.panslabyrinth.com/

Will BLUERAY technology improve my Panasonic's 720P picture vs.using my standerd DVD player ? -
I used brushed on Rust-Oleum, Painters Touch, Multi-Purpose Latex Paint. Semi Gloss Black #1974. This paint went on perfect with just one coat, no priming before hand. Here's a link for the type of hinge I used. Home Depot does not sell these at their store: http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_ViewProducts.asp?Cat=702 The 1" cabinet top and upper and lower cabinet face was cut from three 1" Oak stairway steps which come in size 12" x 48". Everything else is 3/4" thick Oak hardwood, Oak veneered plywood, and MDF board. Back is 1/4" plywood.

Thanks James, I designed this simple stand so it will hold a larger Panasonic in the near future. The stand measure 44" wide x 23.5" tall x 19" deep.
-
I finally finished my TV stand project. The stand was built from Oak and stained with Minwax Cherry stain and semi gloss polyurathane. Everything was purchased from Home Depot I know my Walnut Forte 2 speakers do not match the Cherry stained Oak but they sound awsome matched with my 2 channel B&K Pre/ Main amp combo. Black Fortes will look lots better.

Opinion on a specific Plasma? Need some info!

After viewing lots of flat panel TV's the Panasonic displayed the most natural looking skin tone. So I purchased the 37" Plasma Panasonic $1198.99. At the same time I could have purchased a 42"Sylvania plasma TV lots cheaper $898.99 but the skin tones were not natural looking. -
I think a flat panel TV with the "cable card slot" will eliminate the box altogether if your cable company offers such a card. I hate those stupid boxes (Digital cable, Satellite) and the remote you must use with it.

I found out that I can buy a good table saw plus the wood needed to build a good TV stand for the same price a nice tv stand will cost from a dealer. I am still looking into some ideas.
-
Can you guys give me some good ideas on building an attractive TV stand? Everything I see in the stores that I like is too expensive ($599.99 plus)). I need one that measures about 48"W x 20"H x 20"D

What are the advantages of HDMI over existing analog interfaces such as composite, S-Video and component video? Quality: HDMI transfers uncompressed digital audio and video for the highest, crispest image quality. All-Digital: HDMI ensures an all-digital rendering of video without the losses associated with analog interfaces and their unnecessary digital-to-analog conversions. Low-cost: HDMI provides the quality and functionality of a digital interface while also supporting uncompressed video formats in a simple, cost-effective manner. Audio: HDMI supports multiple audio formats, from standard stereo to multi-channel surround-sound. Ease-of-use: HDMI combines video and multi-channel audio into a single cable, eliminating the cost, complexity, and confusion of multiple cables currently used in A/V systems. Intelligence: HDMI supports two-way communication between the video source (such as a DVD player) and the DTV, enabling new functionality such as automatic configuration and one-touch play. I have noticed that while viewing standerd DVD's and using the HDMI cable vs. S Video cable, the picture looks more digital using the HDMI cable. Although not a bad thing, you can see the small digital picture squares more easily. Hence Crisp Image Quality. Here is the cable I purchased. http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=331

There does seem to be a SLIGHT improvement using HDMI with the Panasonic's DVD player set on 1020interlace. I watched the Hulk over again on my 37" Panasonic plasma TV... the picture seemed more accurate and breathtaking!

So buying a cheap Panasonic HDMI DVD player and using it's HDMI output will not make my picture look any better? I just received my 3' HDMI cable from MyCableMart.com. I will post my thoughts soon.
