I listen to my unmodified Forte 2 speakers veryloudly at times because they sound awsome at the higher DB level but most of the time I try to listen at safer lower DB levels. This is stupid Dean.

As long as serial numbers are consecutive you should not be over critical. I would love to own these. -

I would like it more if BOTH speakers shared the same dark spots, but it was only one speaker. Are the serial numbers consecutive? -

B&K with new Musical Fidelity X-10 v3 tube buffer !
aviserated replied to aviserated's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I had originaly bought the X-10 buffer to help my Sony CD player sound smoother in another system of mine. But by experimenting and using it between my B&K preamp/amp it makes LP's, CD's, DVD's, SACD's and Radio sound even more pleasing to the ear. -
I really love my B&K preamp/amp with it's remote tone controls (loudness button) and thought it could not get much better than this. Although the B&K can sound a little recessed, I have not heard a more musical amp that is more forgiving of bad recordings. But when I connected my new buffer between my beloved B&K Pre and Poweramp, I swear my system now sounds even more musical, smoother, tighter bass, and more detailed with a blacker background. The built in B&K radio tuner sounds better also. The buffer has a Stereophile class A rating and TheAbsoluteSound runner up budget component of 2005 award. For those who do not know what a tube buffer is I will try to post a link for the Musical Fidelity X-10 v3 tube buffer http://www.amusicdirect.com/products/detail.asp?sku=AMUFIX10V3

Good call Larry1. The new Dukes of Hazzard movie was the worst in 2005.

The famous and most ethical Mr. Klipsch would not allow false advertisement...would he? Check out the super smooth Chorus II. -
Sorry. It must be my tone controls with loudness button engaged.

There are a lot of people in this forum who have lousy sounding equipment. I wish some of you people could here this DVD thru my 2 CHANNEL STEREO B&K / FORTE II system. Maybe just the 5.1 setup option sounds bad. Next time select the 2 channel PCM stereo option before playing back DVD.

Would it be possible to hear a pair before buying. "Impossible"

I was reading over in the technical forum about compression and the link about Rush's progressive use of it. http://www.prorec.com/prorec/articles.nsf/files/8A133F52D0FD71AB86256C2E005DAF1C Could R30 be the worst offender yet?! While listening to the R30 DVD thru my ASL1003 tube amp matched with my Forte's this DVD sounds like crap. On the other hand while listening thru my B&K Pre/Main amp matched with my Forte's this DVD sounds wonderful and dynamic. It just depends on your sound system if the DVD sounds good or bad.

Make sure you get the matching preamp with remote tone controls. You will love the warm, non fatigueing, and powerful sound this combo has to offer. ALL of your CD's will sound pleasing to your ear. Even vinyl that sounded bad with your old system will now sound dynamic and wonderful. New Reference 5 S2 Preamp $798.00 retail New Reference 125.2 Amp $798.00 retail

Poll: Do you run flat or do you tweak bass & treble?
aviserated replied to intotubes's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
It depends mostly on the sound quality of the recording. But I mostly use the loudness button along with some tone adjustment. I have a handful of CD's that I can run flat . I love my B&K system with its remote tone controls.
