  1. I have had the RB991 for over 10 years, though it has been sitting idle for the last 4 years or so. I used it with my Epic CF3's and thought it was a great match with the Epics which I have found can be a bit demanding on an amplifier.  It has a damping factor of 1000, puts out slamming bass when called for and did its job without issue and to my eyes,  it looks good as well. I wanted to try the  amps XLR outputs just for fun and purchased some XLR to rca cables from monoprice to connect with the Pioneer Elite receiver.   Though I read it is not truly a balanced designed amp, I used it that way for the rest of the time that I had it in use.

  2. I would suggest that you go over to AVSforum and check out the threads, [whats your system configuration] and also [Dedicated theater design and construction].  those threads have hundreds of home theaters,  lots of pics of peoples designs and  seating choices, often what they paid and where they got them.

I will throw in my 2 cents as well. I have a pair of CF3's. I have had both center speakers in my room at the same time. Had the C-7 first and wanted to try the KV-4 as well. I Tried them in several configurations just for fun.

Great post.  Thanks for sharing.   :emotion-21:

Always fun to try things out.

  4. You don't buy or add a center by the way it looks or the finish it has, you buy it because it is the MOST important speaker in your home theater that all the other speakers anchor to.  That is why you want the correct timbre' matched speaker in that position.  The KV-4 is the only center channel that Klipsch has produced that uses a 2" compression (tweeter) driver and handles 200W.  To say it sounds hollow is just plain sily

  5. Okay Shiva's house it is.  I contacted some forum friends and have 43 commitments so far.  What will you be serving?

Though Shiva's home contains the entire Universe within it,  my home seats 5 comfortably.  Apocalypse Now will sound slammin for anyone venturing to Southern California who wants a listen.

I propose we all make a trip to Shiva's house and watch Apocalypse Now together.

Here is a little pic of a little nature in nature.  No Doors music or napalm in this show however.

  7. I will throw in my 2 cents as well.  I have a pair of CF3's.  I have had both center speakers in my room at the same time. Had the C-7 first and wanted to try the KV-4 as well.  I Tried them in several configurations just for fun.  Set them as a left and right mains to see how they would perform that way and they did quite well together and a matched set crossed over with subs would make a fantastic home theater front 3.  I also tried them as rear speakers as I wondered how a pair of C-7 would work doing rear duty as I was also contemplating getting another CF3 to use as a kick *** center channel. That way I would have 5 speakers with about the same efficiency all the way around.  I stood them on end, placed on tall stands behind the couch. They were powerful used that way, very dynamic, adding great impactful bass slam to movies and concerts and would make excellent surround speakers, just too big to be used that way in my room as it is set up, otherwise I would do so.   As center channels, I preferred the C-7 over the KV-4. From a perspective of looks, the C-7 comes in many flavors of wood, mine are in mahogany, it looks great and looks way better than the boring black of the KV. I also liked the sound better. The C-7 weighs about 8 pounds more than the kv and just felt more solid and damped to me.  To my ears the KV sounded a little hollow, not as refined, not as smooth.  I sold it.

Thanks, it is getting a bit thick up there.  I think they respond favorably to the sound of Klipsch.

  9. The Oppo 93 has a 100 step volume control and is designed if so desired to use as a preamp. It puts out up to 2 volts of current to drive an amp properly, at least thats what tech support told me at one time. The only problem I found when using the Oppo as a preamp is there is no volume display on the front face, but it will display it on the tv.

  10.  Has it always been this way or more so now.  What is the a make and model?  How many hours on your bulb?  It could have become too dim over time and it's crushing the blacks.  Are you using a matte white screen or grey. Also, some shows are just shot dark and do not have good black levels and pop to begin with.

  11. In regards to installing the EV driver in the Epics. Besides extra bracing perhaps, is there any other changes one needs to make when swapping out the EV drivers for the stock ones.  Also, obviously it is bigger and beefier in comparison to stock but it is also a ferrite magnet compared to Neo magnets.  does that not even out the playing field somewhat.  Hey Moray, that is a great spec sheet link on the 1506. do you have a link to the k-63 as well.

  12. you need internet access so you will have to continue service. For those interested in boxes like the minix, there are hundreds of tutorials on youtube of  people showing how to set it up with their  favorite video apps.   just do a search for best apps for Kodi or xmbc. it will also give you a great idea of exactly what you can do with them.   As well, Kodi is an open program that you can also download to your computer and see what it is like before buying anything, if you so desire.
