  1. What device are you using to play music, are you streaming?  I have also heard Chopin pieces distorting at times at low volume but only while streaming content off of Pandora and the like and found that quite odd.    While other piano music even when played quite loudly, never does.  It could be the recording itself,  the poor quality of streaming or some other issue that has nothing to do with the quality of your speakers.  One test you can preform is to listen to the recording on headphones and see if you still hear the distortion.  If you hear it through the phones too, you will know it is not the speakers.

  2. An interesting bit of trivia perhaps, saw that Quentin was going to be on Colbert's show a few weeks back and recorded it.  In the show, he mentioned that he used the same  lenses as they did in the movie Ben-Hur and a couple of other wide screen films of that era.   he then added, that what me meant by that is that they were the exact lenses used in those movies.  I thought that pretty cool.

  3. I have heard demos of the B&W 802 since they first arrived at the high end audio shops.  My most recent listen was at a Magnolia room. It was a nice sealed quiet room, they were powered by 300 watt Mcintosh monos. I found their soundstage shrunken, vocals sounded miniature. I have become used to my Epic CF3's. With their 9"x13" horn centered between the 2 10" drivers, they put out a huge bold effortless voice that just makes ones listening experience much more enjoyable and the hearing of little 1" tweeters far from ideal. Pass.

  4. Bernays developed all the standard propaganda techniques, which he politely named, Public Relations. We have always been based on commercial principles. He just developed all the modern ways of manipulation through media.

According to the videos I linked, before Bernays, people bought things when they needed them and manufacturers wanted to change that.  One of his main contributions was to implant in the human mass psyche the need to buy things not because they needed them but because they will feel better about themselves by owning them, even though there is no truth to that.

And he wedded commerce with living a democratic and free society in that the true freedom of the people is found in buying whatever you want and also to create a society based on discontent and the need for more and more.   So, the main goal of all this is to "placate the masses with the purchase of goods, while those in power can continue to stay in it" as stated in the first video that is.  He also is responsible for starting everyday people in investing in the stock market so that they would have the illusion that they are part owners in things.  Truly amazing what this one guy did with the knowledge of his uncle Sigmund Freud, that man at is core is irrational and needs to be guided for his own good.   He is the first person to introduce product placement in movies and to use celebrities to endorse products to induce the masses to long for what they didn't have and into buying frenzies.

  5. I experienced that for a couple of days in my left ear last year and attributed it to an extra loud listening session. Whether it was the Epic CF3's pounding before me or my subs which sit near field on either side of my couch, I am not sure.  It did not last for weeks though.  Have you been giving your ears a rest from loud music for awhile or not.

no I have not , and for the last 3 weeks I only used HP because my main system was getting upgraded

I would make it a point then to give your ears a rest from anything that seems too loud and see if it gets better. I definitely had the feeling that I damaged my ears from the volume I had it at.

  7. I might as well throw in my own chip amp purchase. It is my 4th t-amp over the years. This has been a great little amp so far and fairly powerful for t-amp at 50 watts aside at 4ohms.  It is also a headphone amp, has 3 inputs- a usb connection, digital coax and left and right rca analogs.  Can handle hi-rez music, digital volume, with a remote control.
