  1. If I remember correctly these typically go for 1400 or more. Split LaScala in SoCal. Pick up only. No connection with buyer etc. etc. just passing on what looks to be a decen deal...they are a bit on the ugly side. http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-INDUSTRIAL-LASCALA-PR_W0QQitemZ5822570971QQcategoryZ61378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. I don't really have an answer to your questions but here is a comment or two. I don't watch the number too closely, but it believe the number that shows up under you avatar is just your current total. That is if you go back and look at your very first post from the day you joined it will have the same number as your last post. I don't know how they are counted; starting a thread versus replying to one. Does that help at all?
  3. Gary, can I "borrow" them for a year or so?
  4. Marty, that Sonic Impact looks like just the ticket. I see what you mean about the y adapter, it uses a mini jack. I only play vinyl on my Scott, so one source in is not a problem. After searching around and reading about it I was just going to buy one but every place I check they are sold out. Looks pretty small and easy to ship. Can you throw it in a box and drop it in the mail? I'll PM/email you my address. I have been curious for a while to see how my old Carver's phono stage sounds, so now is the time. BTW, thanks for the offer of the other equipment too!
  5. Marty, my preamp has a phono stage. Do you have an amp or receiver? If it is an amp that is all I should need. Thanks for the offer!
  6. My Scott is on its way back to the Doctor, which puts me out of vinyl action for a while. However I do have an old solid state preamp/tuner packed away in a closet. It is a Carver CT-17 if you are interested. Since it has a phono stage I was wondering what might make a good short term amp (read cheap and easy to get/ship)? Looking for something that I could pick up easy/quick on ebay or audiogon. If it works well, it along with the SS pre might be the start of a garage system. If it does not work out I figure I could sell it for about what I have in it. New or vintage does not matter. More interested in getting something fast. What is the deal on these low priced digital amps I seem to remember reading about or did I dream that up? Also remember a post a while back about Chinese tube amps that were on the cheep...but that also started a fire storm of pro/con posts. Not looking to get into the politics of labor or economics. Just looking for a quick fix for my vinyl habit.
  7. My advice move or add on to your existing house. Don't give up the collection you currently have. I do heare that Bose makes some small speakers.[6]
  8. Since a lot of equipment is roughly the same size I was thinking not only will this make the back and forth trip between Craig and I, but it could be reused in the future. Anybody who wants to use it in is welcome. Just pay the shipping and it is yours. If I ever need it back, then the last guy stuck with the hot potato needs to send it back to me.
  9. Yea I notched the sides to "hold" the face plate. Put two layers of the foam on top before closing it up too. The first top layer is notched around the face place as is the first bottom layer. Two layers of foam on every side and notches all around holding the face place. Guess we will find out Wednesday how it liked it's journey.
  10. ?<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>Yes - You are obsessive just like your wife saidNo - Those idiots will delite in trying to break something you wasted so much time and effort onDoes not matter - Craig will fix what ever they break, it is the return trip you need to worry about
  11. Got one. Love it in every way! Build quality is really nice. Plays every format on the planet. I paid 1000 for mine new in box from a brick and morter store, not b-stock. Check the IndyKlipschFan thread a few weeks back in 2 channel lots of people talking about this player.
  12. I don't have one, but have seen them in the past and seen them for sale on ebay.
  13. Gary I have used the Forward Air location neer BWI. It is close to the airport and easy to get to. You have to crate/palatize it yourself then take it to them. I used them for a bulky pinball purchase. Pretty easy to work with. Everyting is moved by forklifts onto trucks then driven to the correct forward air location. Most people think they fly their stuff...they do not. Just located near Airports.
  14. Michael, while going through the list of LPs and giving them some values I came to realize, although there are a lot of albums, there are not all that many I really want. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Based solely on price I am sure anybody could buy them up, keep some and sell the rest individually and ultimately break even or more likely make some money. However, that is a lot of work to manage 50-100 auctions and in the short term it ties up a lot of money. After sleeping on it I think the best plan of attack might be to actually buy only the LPs you want via seperate auctions. So for now I am going to hold off and maybe see where the price is at the end of the auction forgetting about the BIN. Best of luck to you if you decide to move forward on your own or with others. I will extend the offer to pick them up for you if you are the auction winner and you are interested in something like that. 150 for shipping/insurance sounds high to me. I will gladly send them to you for shipping costs or bring them out to Michigan when I am out that way. Finally if you are interested I could give you a list of 5-20 LPs I would be interested and what I would be willing to pay for each one. You could decide to sell some of those and know you had some of your investment back before you bid. Good luck, Rich
  15. Yea, I will put them in excel and give a quick round number on my best guess at value. I just looked at all the LPs in the auction there are only 6 on my top-tier-must-have-or-I-will-die list. Where you want th excel file? Boston - Boston (Limited Edition) Jethro Tull - Aqualung Nirvana - Nevermind (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition) Traffic - The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition) The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers REM - Murmur (Special Limited Edition (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition) FYI, Nirvana stinks on MFSL or so I hear...still I would like to give it a listen. Can you live with out those...one or two I could still arm wrestle over and not burst into flame if I did not have them. [] I'll tell you this sealed or not I intend to listen to them...collector value be damned! Sadly, I am at a funeral all day tomorrow, so you might not hear much from me on this. Rattle St.P's cage and get him thinking...perhaps we can knock off some liquor stores to drum up cash.
  16. I love you too, Rich.[] When I say kill you I mean it in the best possible way.
  17. CP1, sent you a couple of PMs you get them? My list was just a quick edit of yours I think we really don't have that many conflicts. Like you I am flexible on most. You got my vote...you can have all the Led Zep...you earned it. [] Maybe you, me and St. Pat should make a wish list ranked from high to low leaving out the high end items like you suggest and see where we are. At typical price of 30-35 if we each end up with 30 that would be a "worth" of about $3K or a grand each. I would think we could come to terms on the high end stuff and resell the unwanteds for about a grand. Now that I think of it though, the non-MFSL are probably not worth 30-35 so who knows about resale. By far the simplest things would be for Allan just to buy this whole mess for me. What do you all say?
  18. Today is Thursday. Is it a week ago Tuesday? If only 2 days no way!
  19. Add a Carver TFM series (15, 25, 35) to your list. The TFM-25 can be had all day long on ebay for 250-300 bucks. At 225 WPC you have tons of headroom to spare. When you want to get really silly switch it to mono block mode and get another one. Just for kicks I listened to my Chorus first with one TFM driving both speakers at fairly loud levels but not ear damaging. Then I put two in the mix as mono amps...about the same volume, but I would swear it sounded better. Probably just my imagination...but it did seem better.
  20. Michael, of your list these are my conflicts. I am sure there are some you did not want that I do, but these are the immediate conflicts I see. Nirvana - Nevermind (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Traffic - The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition) REM - Murmur (Special Limited Edition (Factory Sealed - Limited Edition) Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (Factory Sealed - VERY RARE) but you can have my very nice version ;-) Little Feat - Waiting For <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Columbus (Factory Sealed) Pink Floyd - Meddle (Limited Edition) Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Limited Edition) Boston - Boston (Limited Edition) Previn, London Symphony - Tchaikovsky, 1812, Romeo And Juliet Rod Stewart - Blondes Have More Fun Jethro Tull - Aqualung The Beatles - The Collection Box Set (includes Geo-Disc) CBS Mastersound ELO - Greatest Hits Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Classic Records Limited Edition Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti (Factory Sealed) Alice In Chains - Dirt (Factory Sealed)
  21. St.P, sent you email on the other item (Chorus). As for this obviously the more the merrier as we can pool our cash to make it happen. Down side is that I be we all want the same LPs and thus makes the split more difficult. As for the record cleaner I will gladly clean all involved parities LPs and keep it for you until you need it next []
  22. $25 a pop is "fair" in my mind. I have about 20-25 MFSL LPs now and have paid no less then 10 and max of 80-something. Typical price I am willing to pay is 30-35 and have gotten many at that price. Tull's Aqualung never sells for less then 50 in mint shape. Same with many others on the list. Shipping singles always adds on. The reason I am interested is that I live close enough to the guy to pick them up...thus saving the 150 shipping+Insurance. I have already talked to him about this. Get this. He told me that if I pay the BIN piece he will throw in a Sota record cleaner if I pick up only. He says it is better then VPI. I know nothing of the Sota cleaner, but have been looking for a VPI. CP1 since I have many...like DSOTM, Some Girls, Ziggy Stardust...we cold probably come up with a list for you and I if we put our heads to it. I can pick them up. My parent live in the Detroit area...next time I got there I can get them as far as Detroit. I also go to Chicago from time to time to hit up a hot dog joint named Wieners Circle. Bottom line is I bet we can get them to you or close. There are some on the list I would have to have and might be deal breakers...probably same for you. Most likely there are some you and I don't want. Put your head to it and see what you think.
