  1. Shape Shifter, NICE! Thanks a ton. One more money off my back.
  2. I typically don't post ebay items here figuring anyone looking knows how to use ebay's search feature. However, these seem like a nice set with a fair price. The even have Bob C's x-overs in them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5792657231 No connection with seller. Strange he mentions the forum in the auction...I would have expected to see them here first. Maybe they were offered up and I missed them. Sorry if that is ture. Good Luck!
  3. Bingo! I guess CaptnBob was right. I just could not find a 30 second version on all the mp3 sites I tried that sounded right. Parot's clip is right on the money. That is the song I was thinking of for sure. However, I am not quite sure that was the song I was thinking of that Richard Geere was banging away on in the movie that I have no idea what the name was or what the plot was. Man, I am very helpful in nailing down the details don't ya think? How about another song along those lines with almost exclusive drums. Another famous one. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now I can sleep tonight.
  4. Nice black dress and yes, way too much ankel. Reminds me of when I used to live in Lancaster County PA. (Amish country) that "lady" would never make the cut...shuned from the church.
  5. {sigh} , with the title "center channel BOX" I was expecting another fine pic like the one earlier today of the cleaning lady standing next to the khorn that seems to be _Missing_ now.
  6. Sputnik, No, not A Train. I know that one. The Rolling Stones used that just before they took the stage on their 80 or 81 tour. This song is ripping fast and furious. Sounds like the song is angry. Just about anyone with a pulse would know the drums in it. Was my .wav file that bad that even with my fantastic version it is still a mystery? Pauln, Thanks I dont feel so bad now. I was getting all red faced and sweaty just thinking about posting it. You know the kind of last minute news segment where they say, Now from the wacky world of the Internet here is the latest idiot I am counting on Alan to be all over this now and give me all I need to know about this gem. I am off to scrounge up some dinner (Bachelor this week). I'll check back in about 20 minutes and expect all the questions to be magically lifted.
  7. Now I know this will come back to haunt me. Some day I will be running for President or something and this will derail my campaign. Warning this is pretty bad I have no formal music training. The horns are the first part and it ends with the drums. I pity all that listen. Me making an A$$ of myself to get this song out of my head If only we had this sort of dirt from the Colter/Indy road trip. I bet that was some good singing in the car after many hours. Enjoy, Rich
  8. Mdeneen, 10,000 is that all? I must have described it pretty well. Get going and give me my first candidate. Captn B, I have found a few 30 second samples on linemaybe not 100% sure. Drums sound right, horns do not. I need the full version. J.4 I will get to drums in if I get the nerve to post it Woo, I think you are closekeep it coming Pauln, not quite that heavy on the drumsgreat songjust watched/listened to it yesterday on How the West Was Won DVD. Amazing! IB Slam, dont think so Sputnik, I just about have the cahones now to do itdesperation setting inI know I will regret this. Check back for the best music to ever grace your Klipsch speakers. Off to look for a mic.

Not quite that desperate yet...I am confident somebody will know what I am talking about. Getting close though.
  10. If you are interested in getting back some of you coin I will buy the Sex Pistols and all the U2 off of you.
  11. I already contacted the guy. One pair is sold. The pair with the ding is left. They are now WO finish...but birch with a stain. BTW he told me he would like 1K for the pair left. Good Luck to all.
  12. OK, this should be amusing. I am trying to figure out the name of a song that has no words. I am pretty sure it would be considered Jazz. It has a great drum solo in the middle. Blaring trumpet and/or sax at the beginning. It is one of those songs that everyone in the world knows as soon as they hear it. I do know it is NOT Take Five by Dave Brubeck. Another thing that sticks out in my mind is that I seem to remember some Richard Geere movie where he is drumming the song either with his hands or with sticks.but no actual drums. Do I have to embarrass myself by posting a wav file of myself humming the song that is haunting me in my head or can you guys figure it out form what I have described? Also the artist/album would be appreciated so I could buy it. If you think you have a lead on the song and can find an online sample of it pass it on so I can stop racking my brain. Thanks, Rich
  13. Not quite DIY. Will help you get some ideas. I have used some of their products with success. http://www.acoustics101.com/
  14. GMD, Agree totally on the MFSLs being well taken for the most part. I guess the part that bothers me is that if you say NM it should not look like it was used as a placemat for dinner. In all honesty this was an all out lie. Did you read the auction...am I wrong? NM=Near Mint; Shows very little or no obvious signs of wear. Their words not mine. I have contacted the seller and waiting for a reply. For the most part the other have been close to my expectations. What are the hours of your thrift store again? I don't expect to find a MN copy of Led Zep II MFSL version in the 10 cent bin. That is why I was going with this purchase. Figured 5-10 for a standard issue was not out of line.
  15. I have sent two emails. No reply. Anybody else get in contact with the seller?
  16. ---------------- On 7/22/2005 2:19:15 PM Frzninvt wrote: $10 for an LP! Yikes, ---------------- Well it is a double LP and a classic at that. You can't really fight the shipping as the person does have to mail it and deal with the P.O. mess. I don't mind paying for the NM quality...I just think I should get it when I do.
  17. I am considering a THX II Ultra dual sub and amp set up. The price is a bit steep but the performance sounds amazing. Long story short I might be able to buy just the amp for 800 or less. Is that a decent price? Any pricing I have done for the 2 subs and amps has been around 3,500 +. I dont know the separate prices of the amp/subs. Surely you can buy the sub independent of the amp from a dealer righ? I might go one sub and amp to start then add the 2nd as funds grow. Thanks
  18. Any of you guys buy a lot of LPs on ebay? What do you do about the auctions that advertise NM and NM- LPs and when you get them they look like they have been run over with a belt sander? I realize grading is subjective. I am also new to this so dont want to have unrealistic expectations but check out this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4742727386 Based on the title, description and the sellers definition of NM. Am I wrong to expect a very nice LP with minimal scratches that plays perfect, has little to no background noise? Sure I only paid 5 bucks for it, then another 5 for shipping. 10 bucks is not going to change my life, but the record is simply unplayable. I am waiting so see if the sell sent me the wrong LP by chance and will give them the opportunity to make it right. I have had good luck with the MFSL LPs I have bought. But I cant build a collection on those aloneI would go broke. If I buy this LP 3-4 times with the same results I would be better off paying 30-40 for the reissue on heavy vinyl. With 200 positive feedbacks and 99.5 percent positive I was expecting a really nice copy of this. How do you weed out the bad sellers and focus on the good ones? Do you just keep buying 2 and 3 copies of every thing till the cream rises to the top or is there a better method Anybody want to buy a NM copy of Led Zepps P.G.
  19. Tell yourself you got more for the speakers because the shipping was "discounted". The net you pocket would have been the same if you got less for the speakers but charged correct shipping. Perhaps the cheaper shipping price is why the seller was willing to bid so high. Maybe that will make you sleep better. For sure you will sleep worse if you go back on your word. Another thing. FedEx Ground is NOT FedEX they are the old RPS. Cheaper shipping is great if it gets there undamaged. But from my personal experience UPS will pay claims if damage happens. Look back on some old posts about a lost LaScala and other shipping/packing threads.
  20. Budman you out there? I had put in a low bid on your Belles knowing I would not win but wanted to keep them high on my ebay radar just to see the final selling price and figured what the heck if that sold for my price I would jump in the car and make that long drive. Needless to say I was immediately outbid. Just got a 2nd chance offer at my bid price. Looks pretty official.surely a scam. I did not keep the email from when Budman and I had a back and forth so cant compare his with mine. The email on this message is: cranchirew12@ Ill keep the rest of the email to myself just in case this is not a bogus offer, but I cant see how that is possible. Anyone know how this happens? Are they just well formatted HTML email messages with links to the actual item, but requests to contact the seller which is not the seller? Maybe I am way off base here...but I don't think so.
  21. Run dont walk to your local vinyl store or to you computer to grab this one up. I am very, very happy with all aspects of this album. The cover is thick and glossy. The 200g discs feel like you are placing stone tablets on your platter. But what really matters is the sound and THAT does not disappoint. To me it seemed like each of the four sides discs were a little different I will provide comments on those sides below as well as individual songs that stuck out to me. There are a few things that were not quite right. I would not call them problems just oddities that did not quite sound as great as the rest. Side 1 Down By The River Cowgirl in the Sand Clocking in around 20 minutes only two songs on this side. Nice pairing as well, it was almost as if these two songs become one. Overall I was very happy with the sound. The longer, wordless jam parts of both songs were hypnotic with well separated guitars coming from both sides of the room in almost dueling banjos fashion. I felt like my brain was being first tugged from the left then to the right then back to the left. It was a pleasant tug and eventually I found my head a shoulders swaying back forth. The vocals and other instruments were well placed within the sound stage. My wife commented that it took her right back to high school with emphasis on high. Ah, to be young again Side 2 Cinnamon Girl Simply incredible, I heard parts of the song I have never heard before Helpless - Almost as good as Cinnamon Girlreally well done After the Gold Rush - Another stellar gem Only Love Can Break Your Heart - Perfect Southern Man - Great The first 3 songs of this side are worth the price of the LP. I would go so far as to say if I had only listened to those three songs then broken both albums to never hear them again it would have been worth it. They really are great. The other two do not disappoint either. This is the best of the 4 sides in my opinion. Side 3 Ohio - Well done but nothing that really jumps out at you, sort of bland The Needle And The Damage Done - superb Old Man - Nice Heart of Gold Nice, very nice Like A Hurricane - This was a strange sounding mix of mostly just vocal and symbols from the drum kita bit odd All in all pretty nice side. Like a Hurricane was not as I had remembered it. One of my favorite N.Y. songs but not this version. I will have to give it a 2nd chance. The rest of the songs are very solid and well mixed, produced and engineered. This side will be well played in the future. With 5 tracks it seemed to stumble at start and finishbut had a nice three song middle. Side 4 Comes A Time - Nothing wrong with this one Hey Hey My My (Into the Black) - Unbelievable jump out of the speakers distortionin a good way. No doubt as to why Neil was labeled the god father of grunge. You just have to play air guitar and sing along with this one. Big smiles. Did not want it to end. Rockin in the Free World - probably the biggest downer sounded like a web blanket over the speakers. Harvest Moon - Very well done I was a bit disappointed with Rockin in the Free World. I would have thought being one of his more recent songs and a fairly commercial success it would have been one of the high points of the record. Not so; just very muffled. I will have to go back and listen to my CD version to compare. The rest of the side is great with Hey Hey My My being one of the best tracks on all four sides. As a whole I cant say enough good things about this album. Well worth the $40 price tag. Unless there is a N.Y. song you just have to have that is not here I dont see any reason to spend lots of time, energy and money tracking down the perfect disc on ebay or other spots. If you need a Neil Young fix and dont have any bullets in the gun belt of you vinyl arsenal then this is just the ticket to scratch that itch. Enjoy, Rich

  23. GMD You got it all wrong. I do like the Corns (especially your z-wood) and the KG4s _dont_ sound better but price/size/etc. all things considered they had to make my list. No small part that they were the first Klipsch speakers I ever owned. Ben I wish you a long happy life filled with perfect corners TDK At least you kept them in the family. Check out my signature. I have those same speakers today. They are darn nice, surely meet the easy to move requirement.

I graduated from H.S. in the summer of 1984 just a few weeks later I was in boot camp for the Navy. 8 weeks later I was in training for my Navy job in Colorado. That album really was everywhere that summer, but myself and others in the depravation of boot camp must not have know the actual name of the song. One night in the Colorado barracks (dorm style rooms 3 people to a room) after probably a few barley-pops me and my two roommates were singing way off key and way too loud to that song on the radio. When it gets to the chorus and PANAMA one guy screams Canada, the other the correct Panama, and the third Wait On Love. We all cracked up and swore the other two were wrong. I cant here that song with out reliving that moment every single time. Sorry for the side trackback to great summer songs. EDIT: I'll leave it up in the air as to who was correct
  25. I just might be getting sick for the rest of the day as this just arrived at work about 10 minutes ago. I preordered this quite a while ago and they kept pushing back the release date. 2 200g LPs and a 45. Wonder if I got the Red, White or Blue 45. Has anyone actually heard this yet? If so how is it?
