  1. I'm sure when you first joined the forum, one of us probably said something along the lines of.......... Welcome to the madness, stop right now before you end up driving yourself crazy, Leave before the upgrade bug bites, etc. THIS is exactly what we were talking about!!! [6]
  2. Yes, that is one bright side to the economy! I'm finding all kinds of deals on audio gear in my local area!
  3. I have hardwood floors now, so it's no longer an issue..........
  4. Well, youthman beat me to it on both parts. monoprice and the warm welcome to the forums!
  5. Do you mean the sub out on your receiver? If so, I would assume this would be the best way to hook it up.........
  6. Maybe because of FL's unemployment rate and people losing their jobs left and right, but our local C list is FULL of great buys. Everything from furniture to audio gear. (mostly car audio though)
  7. I guess the only "bad" thing is that I'm totally sold now. So when I get rid or tired of my receiver, Im going to have to fork out the big bucks for Rotel separates!!!
  8. With it sounding as good as it does, I figured it couldn't be hurting anything...........
  9. I just realized the Rotel is actually 90 wpc to 5 channels. Maybe if we rearrange our room or have to tear the system apart for some reason, I might try hooking up the surrounds to it. It sounds awesome right now though, so I'm not changing it...................
  10. Thanks for the kind words guys! I will someday upgrade to a "big boy" Rotel, but that's later. Probably when we buy our first house and I can put everything into a dedicated room. But like I said in my other post, my amp search has ended, and I'm now totally sold on Rotel. But................. I did say the same thing about the Hk when I got it all hooked up; so we'll see about that. Ya, the guy had it on C list for about 3 months. He started off asking 250, then 200, then 150, but will think about reasonable offers. I offered him 90 about a week ago, and he said that was too low. I guess he just wanted to get rid of it, or needed cash fast. He emailed me yesturday morning, and said 90 was GTG!!! I asked him today why he didn't want it, and he said his son hooked all his stuff up for him. Then he moved and didn't know how to hook it all back up again???? Said it just sat there for about 6 months, so he decided to sell it. (no, he didn't have the pre-pro to go with it) Anyway, his loss was definitely my gain here!!!
  11. Well, I didn't want to use her movie to demo the amp. So....... I re ran the MCACC, and put in Hulk. OMG, what a difference! The Rotel really put the "theater" into my system. It's like a HT with an attitude now! It almost like I got an entire new system now!

  13. Well, this will be a little bias, as I've never heard either of the other mentioned amps. But I got my Rotel all hooked up, and man oh man! What a VAST difference! In 2 channel anyway. I haven't been able to watch a movie yet, but definitely will tonight. (What happens in Vegas) I know I know, a chic flick. But I promised her that we would audiition the rotel to a movie of her choice, and it is DTSHD, so............. Anyway, i was on the search for a budget (used) power amp. I paid 90 bucks for the Rotel, and even if I had paid 200, I would still be a new found fan! I just got lucky, like I said, I basically stole the HK, and definitely made out on this amp................
  14. Here's my two cents; speaking from experience. Try it out, and see how you like it. It did add a little bass to my system hooked up like that. I thought it sounded good until I got a separate amp............. Won't hurt to try, right?
  15. In case you didn't see my post in the garage sale sect, about selling my HK and picking this one up; I just brought this Rotel. She's all hooked up and I gotta say. Elton Johns NEVER sounded so good in my house before! It produces a very mild, tamed sound, which is exactly what I was looking for. My synergy's can be a little on the bright side. I'm running the front 3 with it, and letting my Pioneer push the surrounds and subs. I was a little surprised that the subs even sounded a little better. It's rated at a minimum of 90 wpc the way I'm running it. I'm slowly starting to not believe that my receiver pushes 130 wpc, even in 2 channel. Because this 90 wpc is easily the most power, providing the most head room I've ever heard or had on my system. Anyway, this one's a keeper for sure, and after testing just a few, my amp on a budget search is over! Now I just need to sell my HK before I catch an earfull from my other half! One question though. All I had laying around was an extra coax wire, and no rca. I hooked the center up with it, and it sounds great! But is this a bad idea? Should I swap it out for a normal RCA?
  16. My HK is only rated at 65 wpc. My receiver claims 130 wpc. The difference in sound on my F2's between the two is night and day. The F2's just seemed to "come alive" driven by the HK. I couldn't imagine only running a receiver now.........
  17. I'm on the search for a great amp myself. I was looking into Emotiva's, but found my HK at basically a steal, which is now for sale. I'm picking up a Rotel around 11 today. I found it on C list for an unbelievable price, so I figured I'd try it out. My HK is only a 2 ch amp, and I'll be running the front 3 with the Rotel.......... I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it all hooked up tonight!
  18. I'm sure you would. I used to have SF1's, (basically the old F1's), and my F2's sound way better than they did. Can't guarantee anything though. If you sell your F1's though, you wouldn't need to fork out as much for the F2's......
  19. Like meatloaf??? www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/family-classic-meatloaf-90487.aspx?pf=true
  20. Well, in record time, they brought the parts 3 hours after I called initially. On the brighter side, the brake job is now done.................
  21. So, as I type this, I'm in the middle of changing the rotors and pads on our Impala. The reason I'm on the forum instead of doing the brakes is because these momo's gave me the wrong rotors! So, I called them up, explained what happened, and told them they need to bring me new rotors. They tried telling me that wasn't their policy, and that I'd have to come up there and get them. I asked the guy how he expected me to get there, seeing as the cars ripped all apart right now. He says.......... good point. At which point the manager gets on the phone. After about 5 minutes of him trying to tell me they weren't bring the parts, I simply asked hiim to look up my name, and see how much I shop there. I told him, bring me the parts, or I'll take my business elsewhere. So needless to say, the parts are on their way. Even still, after having to go through all this, I think I'll use auto zone from now on!
  22. Is rearranging the room an option?
  23. I would definitely bring them down a little bit. I have my surrounds at 5 feet.............
  24. At the rate I'm going, I'll probably be selling the Rotel in a few months [6] (picking it up tomorrow) Hopefully not though. I think Rachel's about fed up with me and this addiction! [:'(]
