  1. Craig, it was nice chatting with you today while you were in the checkout line... I have my eye on an ugly-duckling pair of mac MC-30s. If I can get my hands on them, I plan to rebuild them with new bases and some new components top & bottom. This would just be a fun project as I have a pair on almost mint MC-40s coming next week that will be my "I'm a McIntosh owner" pair....:-)
  2. Is there a source for replacement transformers? I would think that over the years, that folks have dropped their 30s and needed to replace a damaged one...!?
  3. How hard would it be to clone an MC-30 amp? Is there any reasons why a clone with modern parts wouldn't sound pretty much the same? Has someone tried it before and what were the results? Would the effort/expense be worth it? Joe Auwen PS still looking for tube amps to go with my Juicy Music Peach and '88 Klipschorns..
  4. Hi all: I am looking to build some amplifiers to run my new '88 Khorns. Does anyone have any recommendations as to kits, brands, types, websites, etc? I will be using a Juicymusic Peach for a pre-amp. Thanks,
  5. Is there a schematic or instructions on upgrading an AK-2 to an AK-3?
  6. Thanks Doug, they will indeed be well taken care of! We made it home with no problems from the weather. Taking them apart sure made it easier to move them around... ;-) PS I'm sending the cardboard back... :-)
  7. Well, my budget has been reduced by $1500.00 as I just picked up a set of '88 Khorns in VERY good condition...:-)
  8. Thanks for all of the input and thoughts on this. It really will be a tough decision. I will be going to CES this weekend and will look for each of the suggestions you guys made. My budget may be reduced some as I am going to look at a pair of used Khorns tomorrow... :-)

  10. Thanks everyone for the input. How would the Parasound Halo's compare to the B&Ks? I do want to warm up the refs a tad.

If you're going to be using this system for primarily movies (which it seems like you are) you'd get better performance from an all THX Ultra system. I realize that the 525's are only surrounds, but it is typically desireable to have a system that is 100% timber matched, which is what you would yield from either an all reference system or all THX system, not to mention it won't look goofy . ---------------- I had actually ordered the RS-7s and was told by the dealer that they would not be shipping for 30 days. The dealer said that a Klipsch rep had recommended the 525s as an alternate and a good match for the ref 7s. The upgrade price seemed fair so I thought I would try them. They actually fit pretty well, but the RBs will actually be my side surrounds and the 525s the rears.
  12. If you were driving a system with RF-7s, RC-7, KS-525-THXs, RB-75s and RSW-15, and had about $7-8,000.00 to spend on an HT Processor and Amplifiers (separates), what would you get (and why)..? Room is approx 16' x 20' and is open on one end into the dining room & entry. Sitting position is 12' from speaker fronts. System is now about 70% music & 30% movies. Thanks,
  13. Dean is actually asking because of a question I asked him earlier today... The proc/amps will be hooked up to RF-7s, RC-7, RB-75s and KS-525-THXs. Since upgrading to the Klipsch (from Bose), I have been listening to more music, but still watch a few movies a month.
  14. Santa brought me RF-7s, RC-7, KS-525-THXs and an RSW-15... Good Santa.... :-)
  15. I started 2004 married and with an HT that consisted of Bose acoustimess and 901s. I'm finishing the year divorced and with an HT that has RF-7s, RC-7, RSW-15 and KS-525-THXs....! (she said it was the Klipsch or her - I'm going to miss her...!). Merry Christmas,
  16. I hope someone can help with this question.. I have an RF-7 System, but have been told that the RS-7 surrounds are backordered for approx. 30 days. My dealer suggested that I order the KS-525 surrounds if I don't want to wait. Can anyone comment on what diference I will have with the KS, will it be a good diference or should I wait for the RSs to become available? Thanks, Joe Auwen Prescott, Arizona
  17. I am a newbie to the forum and in the process of upgrading my current speakers. I have it on good authority that I may encure a pretty severe lashing if I were to admit that I am now using Bose speakers (901 fronts and acoustimass for the rest).... :-) To redeem myself (and to save humiliation prior to my first post here), I have just ordered new speakers: RF-7s, RC-7, RS-7s and RSW-12. Now I will be getting rid of my current speakers (which brings me to the purpose of this post) which also includes a Klipsch KG SW - if anyone is interested. Joe
