  4. LOOKING TO FURNISH MY HOME AND CANT FIND GOOD DECENT PRICES ON FURNITURE IF ANYONE KNOWS PLEASE HELP JOE
  5. not a bad little house and yes i am making a listening room in the basement along with a 3rd bedroom and a second bathroom (it pays to know construction), the seller accepted my offer because she didnt have to go thru all the hassles of dealing with home inspectors, termite inspectors and about 10 other type inspectors they tried to get me to pay for, they said we really strongly advise that you get the inspections, i said ive been in the home remodleing and building business for 20 years, and dont need some colledge grad that looked at a book to tell me how good a house is built or not, and termites are as easy for me to see as the so called inspectors, they cant see behind walls anymore than i can. Joe
  6. yeah we went on coldwell banker homesale and looked in the county of york 100,00 to 150,00 several properties came up we seen 20 houses within two days we have a very nice real estate lady also i couldnt belive what we found up there for those prices compared to nothing were we live at now
  7. i agree with gary, i have bought 2 pairs of nice corns that were in great shape (since sold to forum members) and i paid 700.00 and 600.00 respectavily and that is what i sold them for exactly what i had in them, it also cost me 200.00 to have the first pair shipped to maryland from chicago aera. good luck with the sale Joe
  8. im with you there hard to set still during a good fight although with the amtrak job fights are hard to watch no time and all when you work the night shift Joe
  9. been looking for near 6 months and finally found a decent little house in york pa, 2 bedrooms 1 bath, full unfinished basement and a 2 car garage attached via breezeway, 124,900.00 put in a bid of 122,000.00, accepted by the seller im thinking as i am pre-approved all is well. but i have to confess this has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, i cant beleive all the crap you have to go thru to prove where your money comes from. for instance i had a tax refund deposited directly into my account and had to show a bank ststement with that on it, (thats not good enough, seems i could have had anyone elses tax refund deposited directly into my account, so i had to turn around and show my tax return, now i sold my bike and pickup to help finaance all the costs involved with buying a house and i now have to show bill of sale buying, selling, copys of titles, and ebay and pay-pal records where listed for sale) does everytone have this type of problem or am i just lucky???????????? Joe
  10. this is what makes this place worth visiting . nice jab gilbert Joe

  12. first off let me say it is hard to get a new cart on saturday and have to wait till wednesday to try it out because of work schedule. (gotta hate that), first impressions are that that dennon is better, heres how i tested the 2 carts, i set the pre at one volume with the grado and played telegraph road by dire straits, (one of my favorite songs), sat and listened to that, i then shut off the system and allowed the tubes to cool again (wanted everything to be as close to the same fo the comparison) installed the denon (by eye no tools, this is how the grado was initially installed a year ago) weighed the tracking force and set it at 2.2 (denon says 2.2 to 2.8) change the rca's on the x-treme to the cream option outputs, fire the system up and first off it is much louder at the same volume setting, next is the airy sound kinda behind the music (could be contributed to the album itself) , there is a definate improvement in the bass department, twords the end of the song just before trail off i heard some detail i have never heard b-4, now listening to a mfsl pink floyd dark side of the moon, dont hear the airy sound behind the music near as much, so i guess it comes down to better bass and a slight (very slight) improvement in detail, i will assume a proper setup and perhaps a little higher tracking force may bring out more but first impressions are its better anyone know of a book or site for DUMMYS to get a proper setup on a cartridge i have checked some that were offered and it is like greek i basically set mine up by eye if the tonearm looks good and level while playing an album, and the cantilever looks 90 degrees to the album i figure its close, dont know anything about vga, overhang etc... thanks Joe

  19. r.i.p don ( barney ) i watched tv land all the time for the andy griffth show and three's company i even have two dvds from the andy griffth show he was so funny especially with the shows with ernest t bass i hope they do re runs of that show for a very long time
  20. i started with the nitty gritty, but sold that in favor of the vpi 16.5, i like the full support of the turntable the vpi offers and to be honest it seems to do a better job of cleaning the albums, i would like to find the vpi 17 at some point and give it a try as it is supposed to be fully automatic however the 16.5 does a fine job and i suppose holding a brush down on the album as the turntable spins is not to difficult, i have used all sorts of spray on wipe off disc cleaners and none work even close to as well as a vacume machine, if you want to get the best sound possiable you will need a vacume machine Joe
