used the new vpi machine on this album and i can listen to it again before on my dual cs 5000 it was unbearable to listen to with all the background noise, now on a much better table it sounds so sweet after cleaning with the 16.5 no vinyl spinner should be without one of these Joe

well this is one time all the hype is correct this is one awsome machine. Makes my old nitty gritty cleaner look sick, this thing seems to deal with all aspects of the drawbacks to using albums, it takes care of alot AND I MEAN ALOT of the background noises that can be very aggravating with albums even seems to get rid of alot of static noise when i received the machine i was a little dissappointed to see it was not completely automatic and my first thought was that it would be about as good as my old nitty gritty but boy was i ever wrong, this is one machine that is worth the 469.00 i paid i do have 1 question though do any of you have a recipe for the fluid used with these, i received 12 ounces with the new machine but with 1500 albums and 1300 on the way here now i am sure to need more fluid Joe

Best Ten Watt Tube Amp. To $1500.00 (Opinions)
joessportster replied to 126mhz's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
get a set of reworked dynaco mark3 mono blocks, craig at nos valves does awsome work i have heard a set he worked connected to a blueberry and they are awsome, or step on up to vrd's from craig every review of his vrd are outstanding i am currently waiting on a set of the vrd's and am running a st 70 with a blueberry now, and the 70 was also rebuilt by craig, i cannot comment on 10 watt or below amps but i know if you want the loud rock the monoblocks will put out more powerthan the 70 Joe -
Spoke with craig his advice was to rebalance the amp and to bias it again and set it a little lower. This helped a bit didnt get rid of the problem all togeather but did help, He seemed to think 1 of the tubes may be getting a little hotter than should, but that it wasnt a big deal, Nothing to get worried about. Also spoke with mark thru email i was able to isolate the problem as coming from the amp tubes. Gotta love this forum, A wealth of information Thanks Guys Lynn m Is this a better , more readable post Joe

at present i am pretty happy with the set up i have a sub may add to the bottom end but i dont know what im missing untill i add a sub so in my case i dont feel like im missing out, all that said i was looking into a rs 12 or 15 but flat went broke getting this far with gear, i have an old 8" klipsch sub 50 wpc. but dont really care for the sound when it is attached to the system, i keep hearing that scalas have no bass but i have to challange that notion as they sound fine to me,(again dont know what your missing if you havent heard it) to me the scalas have better bass than the corns i sold. thanks for aall the comments and suggestions Joe PS if anyone wants to prove me wrong by donating a sub i would be all too happy to accept Joe edit: there is nothing wrong with the dynaco i plan to keep it and use in a second system in my living room, it has great sound but i am trying to make my 2 channel system the absolute best i can, and that means vrd's Joe -

hey lynn (Crap i forgot to start with a CAPITAL) Hey Lynn I will try but english was never a strong suite of mine. I just get so excited by all this i cant type fast enough. (2 fingers will only go so fast) I know all about the old fart stuff, when i was a younger person i thought all that complaining about getting older was crap. Now that i hit 40 i feel things a whole lot more and am 1 of the people telling the youngsters just you wait. Thanks for all the support Joe -

setting here this evening and now have all the upgrades togeather except for the vrd's from craig, (but i do have his st 70 he rebuilt and tweaked) listening to a couple different cd,s(enya watermark, willie nelson 16 greatest, shine down, clapton unplugged) and an album (dire straits making movies) and even a reel to reel (gordan lightfoot), and the sound is nothing short of amazing now. for the first time in years i got the goose bumps running up my arm, that thing that only happens when the sound actually affects you i setting here smiling from ear to ear only because i cant smile further, craig and mark are my new heroes there work made most of this experience possiable, as i knew nothing about tubes before this forum, and everyone has been so helpful i just want to say thanks to all, the new system is jolida jd 100 cd with upgraded tube set nakamichi rx 505 completely rebuilt marantz model 125 tuner teac X1000R reel to reel dynaco st 70 (soon to be replaced with vrd's) blueberry pre-amp with upgraded nos tubes and walnut case (now offered by mark, juicy music) basis 1400 Tt, with upgraded rega 300, and grado ref sonata and of course la scalas with new rebuilt crossovers by crites i think my upgradeing is all over now Joe

i just bought a used jd 100 with upgraded tubes for 700 and they currently have a shanling cdt 100 on audiogon for 1100, both of these decks have awsome reviews, i should have mine by friday and can update you on my opinion of the sound and the value Joe
-
is it common to have a pinging noise from the speakers after you turn off tube gear, i have a newly rebuilt st 70 by craig and a blueberry pre-amp from mark neither has much time on it since i bought them the sounds continue for a few minutesnot very loud sounds kind of like a car does after running hot and you shut it off the popping and pinging till it cools off (only way i know how to describe it) Joe

anyone here care to comment on the 2 cdp's listed, or either one of them i am going to upgrade my cdp. and these seem to be the best choices for my budget and all i was looking for in a new player Thanks Joe

What would you do? Need opinions please
joessportster replied to Yesfan70's topic in Technical/Restorations
dont sound like nitpicking to me , you bought a set of 4.5's and why shouldnt you expect to receive 4.5's, i wouldnt care how they sound i expect to get exactly what i pay for and i bet everyone here that says just listen aand then decide would have been upset if they had got something other than they expected, i would listen to the speakers and if happy i would try to get the seller to cover the cost of the 1 woofer so they match at least, although i would say dont get your hopes up. and if seller fails to make the deal right he deserves neg feedback this also helps any future buyers know of his short commings Joe -
