At what point is there too much speaker in a room? Especially a relatively small room. (13'x17') I have found that In my humble little room that 7.1 surround started presenting what I can only call phase cancellation issues. It seemed that the effect of adding the final two speakers to my setup created conflicting waves of sound that actually reduced the surround effect in movies and when listening to music in Prologic IIx it was even worse. Any one else have this issue with 7.1 in a small room? is it simply a placement issue? I am running the following Mains--original forte Center--KLF C7 surrounds--KG 4.2 Surround backs--KG2.2's Pioneer 1015tx receiver Thanks for your thoughts

Hi guys I recently connected a two small bookshelf JBL speakers in my kitchen for my wife. They are running off of the surround back channels of my 7 channel receiver (I have the option of setting these channels as a "b" system with a 5.1 HT as the "A" system. Here is the question. I also have a JBL passive subwoofer that would be pretty easy to hide and would add some depth to the sound for my wife. The only connections on the back of the sub is a set of spring loaded speaker wire terminals. Just ins... no outs. How would I go about hooking this thing in? Can I just daisy chain it to one of the bookshelfs with speaker wire? Or is there something else I should do? Any help would be great. Thanks.

please help with matching floor standing to rest of system

Check the product description portion of the Klipsch web site. Any of the previous generation of Synergy speaks would sound great. My brother has a similiar set up to yours, He uses SB3's for his mains. Pretty decent sound from a bookshelf...and with your decent sub, they should sound pretty good. -
KLF 20... what center speaker to match????

Make sure you have enough room for a C7 before you get one. They are a really huge center. -
Pioneer MCACC dials most of the bass out...why?
fletcherkane replied to fletcherkane's topic in Home Theater
Thanks for the reply guys. I adujusted the sub level like mcgoo said, and it really helped. MCACC set the sub at -10db I now have it at +5 and all is well. -
Let me lighten up this thread a bit. The Mac vs. PC battle will continue to rage, but here is a joke to lighten your day How many Microsoft engineers does it take to cahnge a light bulb? Answer: None. They simply patent darkness and declare it the industry standard. []

What it is your Number 1 Favorite Movie you watch?

Can I lump all three LOTR movies into one? A great saga, and a great piece of filmmaking. BTW To Kill a Mockingbird is Finally out on DVD this month. -
I have had a Pioneer 1015tx receiver for a few months now, and have an interesting question. If I set the mic up in my room for the automatic speaker calibration, the set up seems to dial out a lot of the bass signal. The receiver has a five band eq that it sets automatically. One of the things that I love about my HT is the incredible bass response that it is capable of, so I manually dial the bass back up. Is this a normal occurance? Without a good amount of bass dialed in, my forte's sound really bright. Pioneer seems to have really gotten it right with this reciever in all the areas except its automatic eq calibration. Have any of you guys found this to be true of other receivers with a similiar auto setup feature?

Hey guys My mom was in town for a visit, and mentioned that my Forte's and 4.2's look like they need to be oiled. I have always kept them dusted, but have never oiled them. My mother reccomended a product called Old English. She's been a life long housekeeper by trade, and said in addition to reviving the look, it would fill in some of the tiny surface scratches. I told her thanks for the advice, but that I would check with the forum guys to see what they use. Give me some input, and then I'll post some pics of my cleaned up beauties. What do you guys use? How often? Thanks in advance for the input.

Sold my only klipsch's! What do I do now?
fletcherkane replied to Erukian's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I have a pair of sweet Polk Monitor series 5JR bookshelfs if you want them. $100 plus shipping. Sweet little bookshelf speaks from the days when polk was at the top of their game. The dome tweeter on these is quite a bit less harsh than Klipsch, and more forgiving on Mid-Fi gear than reference bookshelfs... -
Klipsch KG Line...Which ones are the best?
fletcherkane replied to fletcherkane's topic in General Klipsch Info
Thanks for thre review t-man! I agree that you can't find better bang for the buck speakers anywhere on the market. You would have to spend a lot of money on other brands of speakers to even approach the KG's. I hooked up my new 4.2's to a very mid-fi 2 channel receiver this week, and was very pleasantly suprised. They are a lot more forgiving than my forte's with less than pristine equipment. My Forte's and my 4.2's are walnut, which I prefer to the oak. I am the third owner of this pair, but they have been very well taken care of since the begining. They had a couple of minor scratches that cleaned up nicely with a little "Old English" furniture polish. -

You'll have better luck finding Phil Keaggy online, or at a store that carries religious music. He is on a Christian music label, although most of his stuff is strictly instrumental.... -

I have 4.2's and they aren't ported...for what it's worth. The 2.2 is ported though. I went through the Discontinued product page and the .2 and .5 is a manufacture date thing. -
Poll: Best Next Generation game console to own will be?
fletcherkane replied to damonrpayne's topic in Lounge
Yes, I know what xbox live is. I am a life long gamer. I do have the means to purchase any system I want, I choose not to be a guinea pig, so sue me... And yes, the only thing you had to say about your console or its online capability is babeeee!! For someone who loves his PS2, and hated the xbox the few times I played it, how about some real reasons for me to consider the new xbox console, instead of flaming me and acting like I insulted a family member.... It's no wonder this area of the forum is so dead...[:'(] -
Klipsch KG Line...Which ones are the best?
fletcherkane replied to fletcherkane's topic in General Klipsch Info
Good question about the .2 Colter... Near as I can tell it refers to when they were made. Originals--1990-1992 .2's--1992-1994 .5's--1994-1997 The .2 line was quite a bit different from the originals. Just check the specs on the difference between a KG4 and a 4.2... -
Just thought I'd throw out a question I haven't seen discussed here. I know that the KG line from Klipsch doesn't get a lot of respect around here and I know that they really don't compare to the Heritage, Legend, or Reference series, but they are still pretty good speakers in their own right. I have personally owned the KG2.2's and very recently came into a pair of 4.2's. (The 4.2's are currently hooked up as surrounds's in my main HT setup.) The 2.2's are no slouches for bookshelfs. I have owned several pair, and I really like their smooth response. The lack of a true "Horn" makes them less "forward" than most Klipsch speaks. The 4.2's are performing admirably as surrounds, and I haven't used them in any other capacity yet, so I can't really give a educated review of them yet. Here is the question for those of you who have owned KG's. Which ones are best? The older first generation, or the second generation KG's? Which ones have you owned, which ones do you like the best?

klipsch forte speakers from 1985...THE FIRS YEAR EVER MADE
fletcherkane replied to BiG_DoG123's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I agree with Flason. Forte's are true gems. They will probably peel my fingers off of them when they lay me in the ground. I like them that much. (They are really happy now with their new friends in my living room...Klfc7 and KG 4.2's) -

Phil Keaggy-- Lights of Madrid Beyond Nature Acoustic Sketches (This man has over 30 albums under his belt and is an absolute virtuoso on any guitar. He is one of the most underrated guitarists on the planet IMHO....) -
Good afternoon all. I ran across this article today. No new concepts to most of us that hang out here, but it might be a good read if you have a friend interested in buying a HTIB setup from a big box store. Bose is never mentioned, but the anti Bose bias is clearly present. http://www.axiomaudio.com/archives/10things.html
