  1. sorry guys, forgot to check the thread. but yea i think i'll just get a folder from benchmade. atleast i'll be able to get a larger blade and not be hassled. i don't think they're going to bother me over a 5 inch folding knife. thanks for the advice.
  2. i think the 3619 just has more attenuation options
  3. well, this clears things up.. It shall be unlawful for any person in a public place, street or park to wear outside of his or her clothing or carry in open view any knife with an exposed or unexposed blade unless such person is actually using suck knife for a lawful purpose as set forth in subdivision d of this section.
  4. although it's a small knife, i don't think any fixed blade will fit in my back pocket with the sheath and all. now i can clip it onto my belt behind me to make it less obvious, but if the law is fully concealed only, then i don't think that will fly too well.
  5. i have a benchmade balisong, but it's illegal by .25". a "butterfly" knife isn't too versitile for every day use anyhow. i mainly bought it for style []
  6. this is the largest legal one i could find from benchmade. http://www.benchmade.com/products/p...spx?model=10500 i live in nyc. according to what i read a 4" blade is permitted, but i'm not sure if the knife has to be concealed or not. i'd like to carry said knife on my waist for conveniance. it gets a bit chunky in the pockets carrying folding knives. assuming what i plan on doing is legal, what is general knife wearing etiquette? do you wear it on the front like a cell phone? clip it in the back? hip? of course i guess i'll have to remove it whenever walking into metal detector protected stores. but what about delis and supermarkets? is it intimidating to openly wear a knife there? thank you. oh, and if you have any other 4" blade recommendations that come with a nice holster, i'd apreciate it.
  7. mind posting the going prices (used) on said preamps?
  8. well, if you're going to "mod" them in the future anyway, now is no better time than to pick up some 511b's and altec 902's (i still don't have my pair yet []), along with building ES networks (last time i priced out the parts it was a bit under $300 if i remember correctly). may also want to do that ported cabinet mod
  9. plan on treating myself to a nice tag heuer carrera
  10. hell if i know.. don't have the altecs yet. just reading about how "great" they were sparked my interest. [] not sure what crossovers you'll be using them with, but they supposedly are drop in replacements with ALKs. as for PE raping me on the shipping, charging $7 to ground ship two < 1lb plastic adapters is a lot considering my 15lb each horns came for $15 using the same method and courier. i don't like when the shipping cost is 70% of the product cost. i think they go by flat rates. that's the problem. shipping is probably fine if you buy a lot of junk.
  11. powder coating would be cool. not sure how much something like that would cost though. have to have the person do it right too, otherwise it comes out lumpy. piano black horns would look quite nice.
  12. i think 100-125 + shipping per pair is the "going rate." yes you'll need the adapters to use the k55. but if you're going to just upgrade to altec 902's, you may as well buy them now instead of wasting the $20 on adapters. partsexpress are real bastards with the shipping prices.
  13. i don't think those will fit on a heresy []
  14. lol, no problem jc. it happens. colter, the auction was for altec 902's. i got my 511's the other day for $95 shipped. originally paid 110, but he refunded 15 because shipping was cheaper. im afraid i won't have anything left to upgrade after the 902's... it sure is fun "modding" your speakers.
  15. small world. i suppose if he only lives an hour from you, you can have them.
  16. sounds good... 3 and a half hours to go on the auction. hope i win. too bad the $17 i spent on adapters is money thrown away
  17. well, i plan on bidding on a pair of 902's. they're the 8 ohm version. i could just drop these in and adjust the auto transformer taps accordingly, correct? what are loading caps that you guys were talking about a few pages ago
  18. building the ES networks right now would be a huge waste.. i've only had the ALKs for about a week.
  19. so for about $400, i wouldn't need tweeters. now assuming i did this, i read in this thread or the other that running two way makes the higher frequencies "beam" at you. that doesnt sound like a good thing and is the ALK network easily convertible to run in 2 way mode?
  20. dean, do you know off hand how much the 902's go for from great plains audio (or a general idea)? they don't have prices on their site
  21. sweet spot is larger. midrange is noticably less compressed. other than that, they're about the same. for $95 shipped (he said i overpaid on shipping and will send me a $15 MO) these horns were definitely worth it. besides, they look cooler than k400's what's next? altec 902's or some new tweeters?
