  1. I didn't get a score but I was able to hide Texas under the map.

My Cd player and turntable are input into the appropriate slots on my 2 channel receiver. ---------------- Thebes, What happens if both receivers are on and playing separate sources at the same time?

One to call a licensed electrician. One to mix the drinks. One to go on and on about how wonderful the OLD lightbulb was. FR BILL ---------------- The answer I heard to that one was ..... What?? Change the light bulb?? My grandmother donated that light bulb! Hope you liked that one DRBILL.
  6. I clicked on the DCSki website link and got this: "The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable..........................." Hmmmm. East coast skiing "cannot be found"?? Just kidding. Seriously, I know that there are many good places to ski in the East other than hazardous waste landfills and golf courses. And, I know what you mean about taking advantage of skiing on what you have being better than nothing - I lived in Tucson for a few years. Mount Lemmon is a good little area there with good terrain but you can imagine how scarce snow was. Also, rest assured that you have way WAY more snow in the East right now that we do here so I won't be bragging . Well, maybe not til next year .

No offense but I am starting to believe they may be voices in your head although voices in your head don't usually take pictures and unplug you from amps...... ---------------- Please, no pictures of the twins. I could end up completely obsessed. I am very happily married but I'm afraid of the siren like power that those twins possess. I'm glad we did not get to see the rest of Thebes basement that I'm sure must surpass the Grotto of the Playboy mansion in carnal opulence. I couldn't stand seeing the realization of things that I believed could only exist in my wildest dreams. For the sake of my personal contentment with my life as it is, I would prefer not to unravel the Thebes Enigma for he has become my newest hero. The Thebes Enigma: By Night: An urbane jet setting bon vivant and Society gadfly. By Day: A promising Darwin award aspirant in the DIY category (good to hear that your hand is functioning again).

  9. Add to the list: 4 to ridicule Bose light bulbs. 256 to argue about the power cord to the light bulb.
  10. Another good source of car information is Consumer Reports. The last issue, in fact, was the annual car issue. They cover about every 'common' car out there as well as provide good information on used cars.

I just got back home and all that I could think about over dinner was this game. It's the video game version of my life.
  12. "you lasted 30.842 seconds" - my best so far! Had to get back to this while the wife's not looking.
  13. "you lasted 26.649 seconds" Getting better . Dang, the wife is calling.
  14. "you lasted 23.257 seconds" This is fun. So much for the weekend chores I've been putting off.

  16. I think that there should be a forum wide contest to see who looks the most like their avatar.
  17. Here is my idea for a vanity license plate: AUDI SUX I would like to use that but my wife is a first grade teacher and drives the car to work.
  18. Here are some recommendations from my personal experience: If you want to stay with Ford, look at the Focus SVT (I don't know about the gas mileage but it's a fun fun car). Make sure it's the SVT. Front wheel drive. Also look at the the Subaru WRX (hatchback or sedan). Fast, fun, and all wheel drive too. The Honda Civic Hybrid. Doesn't seem that different that the regular Civic and "it's a Honda." Toyota Camrys are quite nice. Our Camry with over 180,000 miles is probably the best car I ever owned. Stay way from Audis . I own one and wish I didn't. Stupidly over engineered. Owning one is like dating the prom queen - pretty and fun at first but eventually nagging and wallet draining high maintenance. Whatever you do, don't buy an Audi. Audi bad. No Audi.
  19. Read this poor guys pathetic story - I posted it in another thread, but this seems like an appropriate place too. Looks like the sale went through. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5749681222&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
  20. Weren't those originally designed by Dr. Suess in the late 1950's?
  21. I was told to place the speakers face to face about two to three feet apart and you're in phase when you have the boomiest bass. You can also get a test cd that will help you figure out proper phase, polarity etc.
  22. Hello, and welcome. I have a pair of KG4s in my basement and they are fun. You should play Dark Side of the Moon really REALLY LOUDDDD. Enjoy.

OTOH, maybe sometimes you do want to show that hand, for various reasons too. I guess that's why it's called strategy - making the game work in your own best interest without cutting your own throat/wallet in the process. And so is the completed auctions proof of the same kinds of suckers. How many times do we see threads showing high priced auctions that have no real basis in reason? Sometimes, a seller just gets lucky. And lets face it, there can only be one buyer of the item. There will be many "losers". Playing the game of Ebay requires understanding the mathematics and strategy you choose to play. When playing in a casino, or Ebay, you cannot tell others how to play. You can either take a seat, or walk away from the table. The casino and Ebay are sellers markets. My best Ebay friend (as a buyer)? BUY IT NOW. ---------------- That's the finest analysis of eBay that I've ever heard. Part casino, part bazaar and sometimes bizarre.

He was observed for two hours by casino supervisors continuously, during which he made NO MISTAKES against the basic strategy. NOT ONE. He was then approached by the casino bosses who told him that "your action is too good for us - sorry" - and a subsequent search by the state gaming folks - to make sure he wasn't getting any electronic or other help. He wasn't - it was all in his mind - and he is now banned from playing in any US casino - and many others as well (casinos have the right to refuse service to anyone). ---------------- I hope that you didin't think that my comment about card counting was a wisecrack - I was just trying to make the point that something that may appear crazy or stupid on eBay or at a blckjack might be justified. I would agree that many people on eBay and probably many more at a blackjack table don't take the time to learn the game. I would love to hear some of your stories from 6 years of dealing. I take it that the guy in your example above wasn't even counting cards since he was flat betting and not deviating from basic strategy. I know that casinos can bar anyone for any reason, but to ban this guy for straight up play while taking money from heavy drinkers, gambling addicts, and stupid people is evil hypocrisy. I am amazed that people who have a responsible job or own a business and astutely mind their investments will plop big money down at a blackjack table with no idea of basic strategy. A dealer once told me, and I'd like to know your observation, that the majority (I forgot the exact statistic, maybe as high as 60-70%) of people who sit at a blackjack table will be ahead of the casino at some point but only something like 15% actually leave the table as winners. His source was some gaming journal and I'm not sure of the numbers but I wonder if you observed the same thing.
