Treating early reflection points and bass traps are no joke. []
A few days ago I removed the absorption panels that were on my fireplace (rock). A couple days went by without putting them back in place.......I kinda forgot about them.........did some listening sessions that were very loud (to say the least)..........and heard some harshness in the highs that was really eating away at me the next day at work. Then it dawned on me that I never replaced the absorbers.........Got home that night, did some listening, put the absorbers back in place at the reflection points and the highs were mellowed out immediately.
I run Crown amps with RF-7's and yes, they can be bright at high volumes. Treating the early reflection points certainly helps A LOT with my gear (and room).
I took it one step further and treated more of my fireplace.........very satisfying results. []
Experimenting with room acoustics is an interesting and rewarding process. An upgrade that is cheap in comparison to buying better gear. []
