  1. I recieved the Jolida JD100 about two weeks ago, immediately did some comparisons with my Denon cd player..........no drastic improvement, if any at all but definitely no slouch. Since then I haven't had time to do any side by side comparisons. However, one adjustment that I had to make was lowering the gain/attenuators on my amplifiers. It seems that the Jolida is giving more output than the Denon. Does this seem right? I haven't noticed anyone else mention this kind of result from a tube cdp. It's being used with all ss equipment for about another week, then I'll have a tube pre with it. It seems that you certainly got a good deal on the Heart for the money you paid!!
  2. Silversport...........Just curious to hear how your Heart cdp is coming along. Any variations in sq with the initial burn-in phase?
  3. I'm waiting for a JM Peach.............what's next on your list?
  4. I'd like to get a brand new pair and do a blind test..........IMO the RF-7's and the higher end Klipsch aren't just the flavor of the month..........they're a permanant investment.
  5. It's been two years since I purchased my 7's and they still seem like they're warming up!! They were very harsh at first so I played them while I was at work for two weeks straight. The harshness went away but as far as the brightness..........maybe I just got used to them...............but after 12-18 months they were anything but bright, just clean and natural sounding. Awesome speakers.
  6. I use a Berringer Feedback Destroyer. It's cheaper than the SMS-1 at about $100.00 but not as user friendly from what I've read. I also had an RSW-15. I wanted more so after experimenting with room placement I added the BFD with room treatments (bass traps). I'm not 100% on the bass traps but the BFD can do some pretty cool things and be very effective. The "icing on the cake" was adding a second RSW-15 stacked on the other one. Headroom is awesome and slam is just what I needed without taking up any more floor space. By the way........very nice room!!
  7. I've decided not to hook it up this way since I have another svs sub in the house that I can run independently off of the reciever's sub out. My higher quality subs will be run off the Peach. Just out of curiosity, I would like to know if what I originally intended to do with the subs would be safe.
  8. Ok, I checked it out. It says that it is capable of 350 watts. My Crown amps are 500 watts @ 8 ohms and 800 watts @ 4 ohms. Would that be ok? What could result from not using a resistor?
  9. I would not hook it up that way without a resistor of some sort. Use a Niles DPS-1 if you plan on running two sets of speaker wires that way. Each amp feed to the Niles, and then from the Niles outto the speakers. Do not have both amps on at the same time. Carl. I'm not familiar with using any type of resistor, how big would it be and would it resemble some type of selector box to go in and out of ?
  10. Thanks for that info guys, that's what I wanted to hear. I would like some more opinions on the sub situation, I don't want to damage anything. Any input would be appreciated. Having four RF-7's, I want to get use out of all of them for music listening. I plan on splitting off out of the Peach into (2) two channel amps, one for the fronts and one for the rears. When watching movies with the surround reciever, I will simply turn off the amp that is running the rears. So to try and clarify, the rear speakers will actually have two sets of wires running to them..........one set coming from the reciever for movies and another set coming from the second amp that is split off from the Peach that is only for music.
  11. No I haven't. I just ordered the Peach yesterday so I should have it in about 10 days. This will be my first piece of tube equipment. All I know is solid state sound so I'm looking forward to using the Peach with the ss amps that I currently own. Listening to music through a surround sound reciever just doesn't cut it for me. The other thing that may or may not be unique about this setup is that I'll be using the Peach with professional amplifiers. I can't say that I've noticed anyone else on the forum with this combo but I could very well be corrected on this. I hope it's not a no no but it's what I currently own so I'm gonna try it. Something tells me that I might just be satisfied listening to two channel music without the subs........four RF-7's..........I try it both ways.
  12. Thanks, Mark. In my case I'm incorporating the Peach with a surround sound system, wanting the best of both worlds. As far as the subs go, I'm planning on running the cable out of the reciever's sub out and also running cable out of the Peach joining them together at a "y" adaptor then continuing on out to the subs. When the surround reciever is on, the Peach will be in HT bypass mode. When the Peach is on for two channel listening, the reciever would be turned off. This way, the subs are always ready for movies and/or for music. Make sense?
  13. Anyone running more than one pair of speakers with the Peach? Anyone running a sub out of the Peach? Just ordered one yesterday, should recieve it in about ten days. I plan on running four RF-7's with two subs out of the Peach. I've got some ideas, just wondering if anybody else has done something similar. Thanks, Scott.
  14. I recieved the Jolida JD100a yesterday......the remote cracks me up, it's like a brick with buttons on it. So anyway, like Silversport said here and in the other thread, not a "lightning strike" but very detailed and smooth. I have it hooked up to all ss equipment and the improvment over my Denon is not overwelming. I'll be patient and let it burn in for about a month or so and experiment with different tubes. SS sound is all I know but Monday I'll be ordering the new JM Peach. I'm really looking forward to the tube-pre, tube cdp and ss combo in my quest for better sound quality in music. The Jolida is put together very well and the remote is built like a rock but it didn't knock my socks off. I'm not disappointed in this purchase but I really hope that it warms up in the next few weeks.
  15. What is a DAC and what kind of a difference did you notice? Where do you hook this thing up (internal or external)? How much $$$ are you talking about?
  16. I think I'll try the EH and the Tung Sol tubes after about a month of the stock JD100a burn-in. What the heck, right? They're inexpensive, can't hurt. Are there any other tubes you guys would recommend? Is it true the hotter they run the better they sound? Is that only applicable to amps and pre-amps or BS all together?
  17. One of the days the fest can be in Flanner's McIntosh/Lascala showroom!! I don't think the people working there would notice us. Well, it was lunchtime when I was there. lol
  18. I ordered the Jolida yesterday. I should receive it middle of next week. I'll see how much I like it then might get another one for my second system. The others mentioned on this thread have some pretty good reviews, especially the Ah! I might go that way the second time around, we'll see. Gotta get a Peach first.
  19. I'll have one middle of next week. Just ordered one. How do you like it so far? What were you using prior?
  20. I went there yesterday. I listened to the Lascalas. The mids and highs were very admirable, can't say the same for the salesmen working there. Nice store, pretty impressive listening rooms. Enjoyed the theatre they had. Very well done.
  21. Thanks for the invite, I'd be very interested in attending if workload allows for a little time off. What area/town is this located? I did some work in the Xonia-Watertown-Occonomoac area a couple of years ago. Beautiful country out there. I'm about one hour away coming from Twin Lakes.
  22. Man, this just aint working. Anyway, the question about the wires I should have left out. Can of worms for sure.
  23. That sounds like a can of worms for any forum. I'm not touching it. If you are trying to test the difference in sound between the DAC and output sections of your player versus pre/pro then by all means, hook up some RCA cables and try it. I prefer the sound from my player over my pre/pro but I keep both connections hooked up for the certain times when bass management becomes an issue (ie, if I want to annoy someone with the subwoofer [] or some deep bass from organ music that the mains just can't do).Yeah, I know. I just slapped myself upside the head.
