  1. Any advice on the popping sub, other than throwing it in the trash? What if I were to find some scrap parts? Could I use the same box?
  2. Dead and gone??? I think not! Read Brothers is alive & well. Unfortunately, they aren't a Klipsch dealer anymore. [] OTOH....I have Audio/Video Warehouse which is locally owned & operated. They are a Heritage & Reference dealer. Hell, they even carry tubes & turntables in a dedicated 2-channel room. The downside is they don't stock Heritage. [] The up side is that they have the full Reference line in several demo HT rooms. [] But I hear you DM....Read Brothers and A/V Warehouse are the exception nowadays. [] Tom A/V Warehouse? I bought my Ref 200.7 and a pair of RB 35s from the Bluffton Store. Mike gave me a really good deal. Where are you, Savannah, Bluffton or Beaufort. BTW, the BEaufort store had a great deal on a RSW 12 and a RSW 15. Demos but looked good. They probably still have them.
  3. Wassup Red. I knew you'd have a suggestion for this one. I'm lovin my homemade 20 for sure. And I got those (2) RB 35s from the rear out of there and went with the single leftover KLF C7, so from 7.1 to 6.1, but all Legend. It sounds much much much better than the (2) RBs. I'm gonna let gbrlex listen to it and he'll be looking for more Legends. gbr, I'll call you soon, I'm on the road alot this week. Billy
  4. well, the wife's downstairs system is coming along. I got the Pioneer VSX 1015 and Sony 400 disc DVD player(aka the babysitter) hooked up to the RB 35 mains, KV 4 center, RS 7 surrounds and KSW 150 "sub" (and I use the term loosley). I just got finished pulling wire for the surrounds under the house, replacing the tiny wire from the now bedroom relegated sony DAV C770 dream system. I haven't calibtated it yet, my kids are watching Catwoman as I type. This thing is a major improvement over the SDS. But I have got to get that RC7 quick. This KV4 is just a horrible match with the rest of the speakers. It took 2 minutes for me to remember the sound, and for literally years I thought it was the sheeet, but come to find out, it never was a good match for my Legends. This thing sticks out like a sore thumb. So I will take care of the problem asap and buy that RC7, then this poppety pop pop sub is going in the trash. Kids, listen to what your parents say. A matching center makes all the difference in the world.
  5. Yeah, I'm happy with it, I know I could have done better for the money, but it does sound good. It will rattle stuff off the end table. Not as loud as it could be I guess. thanx for the opinion.
  6. WHoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. I was not very clear, I know I wasn't. I'm putting together a system for the wife(downstairs). It will evolve over time as everything does, but right now I have RB 35s for the mains, RS 7s for surrounds, a KV4 center and a ksw 150 (gag) sub that pops like hell for speakers and a Pioneer vsx 1015 receiver. I have a line on a RC7 and will be changing out the KV 4. Anyway, I don't need gutwrenching bass at all.....in fact, if the ksw 150 didn't pop like a popcorn popper it would be fine for the purpose. I wonder if I change out the woofer would the popping stop? Anyway, I can get a new RW 12 for a shade over $400 and wondered about it. I am being told the sub 12 is the better choice, which sounds curious to me but whatever, I have no idea so who am I to say. anyway, thats the deal and why I was asking. happy new year
  7. Hey Ear,, Whats your opinion of the Martin Logan Depth. I have one and like it, but damn it was expensive ($1800) Just wondering what you think of that sub. Billy
  8. I bought this sub 10 years ago. A few years ago, it started popping badly on really deep, loud bass scenes. Would a replacement woofer fix that popping? I was told it might be the amp. Anyone have any ideas?
  9. Is there a major difference? I'm putting together a system and am on a budget.
  10. Dad used to say, "son, when you're in a hole, quit diggin"
  11. Go with the KLF C7s in the rear if size is an issue. You will also like it much better if you get one for the center as well. I also have a KV4 that I used with my KLF 30s and I did like it but could really tell a difference with the C7, much more seamless. I have put the KV4 back in service for now as am putting together a downstairs system for my wife using RB 35s, RS 7s and the KV4 but will be selling the KV4 to buy a RC7. If you ever want to hear an all KLF HT, come give mine a listen. I like it very much and really am very satisfied at this point. Once I get one more C7 I will be done, I swear(I told my wife).
  12. (2) KLF C7s would be really good if space is a prob. Or you could get a pair of KSP S6s if you like diffused rears.
  13. Billy , You could put them next to the KLF 30's , and use a selector box to switch between them . What would the wife think ? You know your easy going , fun loving nature will only get you so far []. Or , just a thought , you could put them here and come over and listen to them whenever you want []. Willy P. btw the guy lives in Park Circle . I would probably get to listen to them more often and louder at your house. They would be decent little rear channel speakers for those Belles.....and lmao, I hit a car once with a softball that was driving around Park Circle when I mashed one over the left field fence.
  14. where would I put them????? Someone talk me into buying these. C'mon Willie, work wid me here. Oh, and jk about the 8 bones..............................unless you just think it's worth 3 more.
  15. I've got a pair of Realistic Nova 6s I'll trade ya for the LSs. I'd even deliver.
  16. Hey Willie, did I say $500 for the Carver. I meant $800. Billy
  17. is it me or is that statement a contradiction?
  18. I found a VSX-1015TX-K @ BB for $474 and bought it. I have it hooked up right now with only the RB 35s and the KV 4, but of course, my kids are now asleep and I can't let it rip. I'll hang the RS 7s tomorrow and see what happens. I'm gonna sell the KV4 soon and get that RC7 for $350 I've been looking at. One note, this is all hooked up to my old 50" Toshiba CRT HD Monitor (with no HD receiver) and the VCR and standard DTV pictures are really improved. It is a very noticeble difference. I asked my wife to look at something she is used to and she pulled up an old program off the TIVO.......she said the Young and the Restless never looked so good. Wait till I get her a HD receiver. Does the upconversion convert 4x3 to 16x9? She said that Victoria Abbott didn't look fat anymore. LMAO
  19. Looking for experienced opinions regarding an AV receiver. I'm setting up a second system downstairs. My speakers for the time being will be RB 35 for mains, RS 7s for surrounds and, for now until I can sell it, a KV 4 center(I'll eventually sell this and get an RC-7)...ok, lets just call the center RC 7 cuz I won't be able to stand it. I see Yamaha, Denon, HK and Pioneer all in my price range, which is about $300-$500 if Willie DOESN'T buy my Carver, and $500, to $800 if he does. I'm looking for any personal experiences with current or last year models Yamaha, Pioneer, HK and Denon. Are there any of these that you would just throw out and not consider? preesh in advance Billy
  20. Willie, Cell number in PM I just left you. Call me if you wanna get up on Friday. Billy
  21. I saw that one too. Mine is pristine and has the rack handles. I will let you try it out and if you like it I'll take 5 bones for it. Thats a steal and will allow me to buy a modest AV reciever for the wife's soap opra set up. I have been considering getting an older processor like a Ref 20 or 30 for the set up but can't find one cheap enough. I'm broke as hell. This will fill both our needs if you end up liking it which i think you will. I even have the original manual. I have a company function to go to on friday evening off Dorchester road. I'll be in town early going over a job with a manager down there. Let me know if you wanna try to do it then. Billy
  22. Gary , I think it sounds great ! Allthough I'm sure it will sound better with a new network . My HT ROCKS ! But on the downside , I am using my Acurus 100x3 amp for the 3 Belles . Very good balance across the front as you would imagine . But my 2 channel took a big hit ! The Quad 606 is a much better main amp , it truely makes the Acurus look PATHETIC . On the plus side , my rear Heresy surrounds are now incredibly strong ! I have gone from a plus+ 4db setting when the rears were powered by the Acurus to a minus- 6db setting using the Quad . There is only a 40 watt differance in rated power between the amps , but the quality of the Quad makes the Acurus seem very pedestrian . I don't think the Acurus has very much time left in my system ... Willy P. ps I can't say enough how much I appreciate you parting with her ! Thanks Gary ! Willie, I've got a Carver AV 806x you can try. 6 x 133 or 3 x 360. Very warm, some say tubelike. You can try it if you want. The 133 watts drove my legends great until I upgraded to the 200.7. This amp sounds very similar to the B & K, I can't hardly tell the difference, NS
