  1. Boo. Well, I think its good they lost a game at this point. They don't have the pressure of going the entire season undefeated. After all, another team who went undefeated recently didn't fare too well when it came Super Bowl time...
  2. If you're relying on the Sub-12 to play frequencies 40Hz and under I'd be inclined to look at other subs that have useable output below 20Hz. Reproducing 24-40Hz is a pretty narrow window for a sub like that. Don't get me wrong, the Sub-12 is a great value for the money and a very good sub all around, but there might be other subs to consider that may work better in your situation.
  3. You can do it, but it really isn't recommended. Having two speakers output exactly the same sound information causes things such as comb filtering and other audio-related distortion. You're much, much better off only using one. There's a reason why 99.9999% of surround-sound receivers and pre-amps have a single center speaker output. However, if you absolutely want to do it, the best way would be to hook them up in a series connection like this:
  4. Good Lord Mike! You've got your surround setup all ready!! So, here's the new setup: 1) Chorus II fronts, Chorus II side surrounds, Chorus I rear surrounds, sell the KG4s and Quartets and get an Academy center. OR 2) Chorus II fronts, Quartet sides, Chorus I rears, use one Chorus II for a center speaker, sell the other Chorus II and your KG4s. I'd be inclined towards #2 myself, mainly because a Chorus II center speaker will blow an Academy out of the water. Maybe we can work out a deal where I can take a speaker or two off your hands.
  5. While it is preferred to have the center speaker at the same height as the drivers in the front mains, if you angle the center speaker up slightly so its aimed more at your head than straight ahead you'll have excellent results.
  6. Wow, a guy tries to help out and... [*-)] You can contact Klipsch directly by phone or email.
  7. Yipes, this thread is from 2004. I don't think Bill's been around for a loooong time.
  8. I haven't heard the newest generation of Reference speakers other than RF-83s and they were superb.
  9. Let's see, tomorrow's forecast is snow and a high of 43. I'll be on the first plane to Arizona in the morning!
  10. So now you have Quartets, Chorus Is and Chorus IIs, right? Not too bad of a lineup! If you need me to talk to your wife to convince her to let you keep all 6 just let me know. [] I'd be happy to pop in some weekend to help you set anything up and move things around. Always nice to have a helper to move things around. If your wife is anything like mine the last thing she wants to do is lug heavy speakers around and toe them in and move them back and forth and get out the tape measure to make sure they are angled exactly the same and are equidistant from each other and the walls. I don't know why she doesn't like helping with that. [:^)]

  12. I watched the logo scene and I think I hear what you're describing. I'm pretty sure its supposed to sound that way because even when I turned the volume down there was an odd sound. Klipsch speakers reveal every detail in audio. Transformers 2 will give any audio system a good workout. I couldn't believe the LFE this movie had! Probably 3 times as much as the first one. There were a few scenes where I could feel sub-20Hz output from my sub. There's a certain board in the basement ceiling that rattles only on sub-20Hz material when I have the volume turned way up. That board was shaking more than Amar Bose at an audiophile convention.
  13. It is ok, but not really necessary. I'd suggest going to http://www.monoprice.com and checking out their speaker wire. Even if you buy their premium wire, you'll probably spend less than $100 total. Use bare wire to connect the speakers for best results. If you move your speakers around a lot or change out your receiver/amplifier a lot you can use banana plugs or spade connectors. Otherwise there's really no need for any kind of special connector.
  14. I'd suggest stacking your speakers and see how you like the sound. Bottom speaker sitting upright like normal, top speaker upside down. Then wire the speakers in series.
  15. I think you have a bad case of upgradeitis. You have the top-of-the-line Klipsch Synergy surround setup, a speaker setup better than a huge majority of earth's population, and you're looking for fuller sound?? [] If you really want to kick things into high gear, check your local craigslist and eBay for Cornwalls, Fortes, Heresys, LaScalas, Klipschorns, etc, etc. Fuller sound abounds.
  16. I just watched the movie today (quite loudly I might add) and there were times when it seemed like distortion but you could tell it was supposed to sound that way. I'll go back and check the opening title and see what I hear.
  17. Welcome to the forums! As long as all the drivers are producing sound they're fine. As far as a manual, other than installing the speaker wire in the back there isn't much else to do. [] Oh, and a friendly word of advice: [Y]
  18. Welcome to the forums! There's two on eBay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RC-10-Center-Speaker_W0QQitemZ270472308509QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item3ef967e71d http://cgi.ebay.com/KLIPSCH-RC-10-Center-Channel-Speaker_W0QQitemZ250515913651QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item3a53e97bb3 What are you matching the RC-10 with? Its possible a different model will work.
  19. I agree with Bill. With an AT screen I don't really see the reason why they need to be hidden into the wall when the screen will be hiding them. That way you'll be able to change things around if you decide to upgrade to other speakers in the future, or adjust their height, width, etc.
  20. A lot of speakers will overemphasize certain frequencies. Klipsch's goal is to have a very smooth and flat frequency response with a very efficient speaker. As a result, compared to other speakers who don't have as flat of a frequency response sometimes areas such as bass may seem lacking. How do you have your speakers set up? Since RF-3s are rear-ported, the distance they are placed from the wall behind them will affect the bass output. Do you have them set to Large or Full Range if possible?
  21. Matching up speakers within a surround-sound environment as closely as possible is the key to getting the best sound. F3s would be the best in that case. Not sure what you mean by "my thought was to throw different speakers at it and try to pick up more sound" ?
  22. The Marantz will still only be putting out 50wpc. Its physically impossible to increase how many watts the Marantz will put out without going inside the receiver and replacing pretty much everything related to the amplifier section of it. I guess technically depending on how you wire up the four Fortes you could give the receiver a lower ohm load which will usually result in the receiver outputting more watts, but that's only if it was designed to handle a lower than 8 ohm load. Are you trying to hook up the Fortes in a surround-sound setting or are you trying to have more of a quad stereo arrangement?
  23. No, that's not what the separate inputs are for. They are for bi-amping/bi-wiring. If you want to use them by themselves for music just run your receiver in stereo mode.
  24. I once told a former co-worker that home theater was one of my hobbies/interests and she said "Oh, do you have a Bose system then?" [:@]
