  1. A friend of mine has a vintage electronics store and repair shop in Rockford, Illinois and he has a pair of 85 Klipschorns that he's selling on consignment from one of his customers. They are KBOO and they're in great condition. I've seen them myself and can tell you they are in great shape. The customer wants top dollar for them and is firm on the price, but if you can pick them up, with no shipping cost they would be worth it. PM me if interested and I'll let you know his web site address so you can contact him.
  2. I just started using a Mcintosh C27 pre-amp and so far I am impressed with the sound. I highly recommend them if you can find them. BTW, I found this one at a flea market in fair condition with some scratches but everything works fine. I paid the guy $2. Did I do good?[]
  3. I forgot page two of this spec sheet Hey, those are my scans [] Yes they are. I saved them when you so graciousely posted them on AudioKarma. Great info on all the Mitsu stuff from you. Thanks much! []
  4. I also have the Mitsubishi system with the DA-A10DC amp, DA-P20 pre-amp, DA-F20 tuner and DA-M10 meters docked to the amp. Never any problems with them for years now and they play daily. Good looking, great quality and dependability. I've used them with my LaScalas for about 4 years but now with my Klipschorns. Perfect match.
  5. Actually, I'm not using the Pas at all. I'm using a ss Mitsubishi DA-P20 pre-amp from one of my other systems. I'm not using the Pioneers right now but I could use them as a pre-amp by removing the jumpers and using interconnects from the pre-amp out to the ST-70. I understand the Pas is not well thought of. Any truth to that?
  6. It varies a little so I'm sure it's going to need a tune up. One more quick question, should I be connecting the speakers to the 16 ohm terminals using it with my Khorns? I've been listening to it all morning and I have to say that it does sound smoother, less harsh than SS does.
  7. Thanks for the help. I did what you advised. It was pretty close already but I kept adjusting until I got it at 1.56V , then the other side then back again but it never seems to stay right at 1.56V. Is that normal?
  8. That's an excellent start! The SP12 is a full range speaker used in the two way systems like you have. Go all the way now and add a T25A mid-range driver with 8HD horn and an X8 crossover and you'll find that missing mid-range you mentioned earlier. [] What finish is yours and was it factory built or a kit? My pair are Mahogany and my father has a single mahogany that I might be able to convince him to part with.
  9. I was at my father's today and talked him in to letting me borrow his Dynaco ST-70 amp and Dyna PAS pre-amp. I want to hear what it sounds like with the Klipschorns compared to my ss set up. It's been sitting in his basement for years, not being used, so I got it home, hooked it up and it sounds pretty nice so far. It's all original with Dynaco tubes and in excellent condition. I'm unsure on how to adjust the bias and what that even does being new to tubes. I'm going to listen to it for a while then probably send it off to Craig for his evaluation and advice on bringing it up to proper specs. So far, I like what I'm hearing.
  10. Does your Aristocrat have the 3-way system with separate woofer, mid-range and tweeter? If it does, which drivers and crossovers does it have? The Aristocrat is a great speaker cabinet if loaded with the proper drivers. It needs to be placed in a corner like a Patrician IV or a Georgian though if you want the best bass. Where are you located because I have a pair I will be selling soon but I really don't want to ship them.
  11. Here's the amp that's also Dual Monaural design
  12. I use a Mitsubishi system from the late 70's that is a Dual Monaural Amp and Pre-Amp. As Stated in the last post, it's two separate mono pre-amps sharing a chasis. Here's the specs on it.
  13. second scan.....connect this one with the third one
  14. I'll scan mine and post the plans sometime in the next few days.
  15. The Patrician IV uses 2 mid-bass drivers which are nothing more than an 828 driver on the long black phenolic horn, then a T25A mid range driver on a 6HD horn and a T350 tweeter. The 6HD horns are very rare. A pair just sold on eBay for $285 and that was the first pair I've seen in quite some time. The tricky part is that all these horns need to be mounted inside a 200 hz wooden horn that sits on top of the bass bin. If you have the plans to build one, it's not hard to do, I did mine. Without that horn, you will not have any mid-bass from 200 to 600. The crossover that came with a Patrician IV was an X2635 which sell for over $500 if they ever come up for sale. I had Bob make me a pair using original schematics. Made a huge difference in sound. The 18WK is what's worth the big money because they were only used in this cabinet, no others, and they never sold all that many of them. The 30W is much easier to find but goes for more because of the uniqueness of it, certainly not for the sound quality. At $1000.00, they are a good score for the value of the woofers and the bass bins even if they are the utility version. You can take the bass bins, and from them, create a beautiful speaker by building the 200hz horn, and buying all the components on ebay except for the crossovers which I recommend getting from Bob along with Bob's tweeters instead of the T350. Bob's sound better IMO. The hardest pieces to find will be the 18WK's and the 6HD mid range horns.
  16. The two woofers alone are worth more than what he's asking for the whole deal.
  17. I have a pair of 18WK's. One in my Patrician and one sitting in a box hoping to be used someday maybe. They do perform well.
  18. Bruce, These are the second set of Bob's tweeters installed in those LaScalas. They really did make a nice improvement when I still owned them. Now with them transferred over to my Klipschorns, they once again out perform the K77's.
  19. Craig, So sorry for your loss. All my best to you and your family. Stay strong for them. Bernie
