  1. The postman just arrived with presents...... new crossovers from DeanG for my 84 Cornwalls. Now my speakers are complete. LaScala's have Dean's super AA's and now these for my CW's. I will put them in tonight and give them a good listen! Thanks Dean!!!!!
  2. PSG They are the super AA's, i really like the sound. I don't have many hours on them, but the difference is instantly noticeable. It has taken all the rough edges off and there is a nice smoothness to them. I am not the best at description, but if you are considering them I think you would like the sound.
  3. I had to go to Seattle to have a back operation, and when I got back home I was delighted to see my deanG crossovers waiting for me. Wow, they made an enormous difference in the sound of my LaScala's. The shrill is gone and the warmth they bring is astounding!! I think TBrennan would even like them.....hmmm maybe not, but I love them. Now to get my cornwalls done. Also as many of you know I have two brand new Heresy's and want to use them both for my centers. I have had many tell me that it shouldn't make a big difference, so I did wire them in parallel, both being powered by the center channel of my parasound HCA-855a . So far everything sounds just fine, but I am wondering if there are any long term implications to doing this. Right now it sounds great, but was wondering if it will shoreten the life of my center channel on the amp. Thanks Sam
  4. I was just wondering if any of you know wether or not DLP or LCD tv's are affected by the magnets in my Heresy and LaScala's. I have a rpcrt and it really messes with the picture. THanks for any info.
  5. I was just wondering what kind of oil to use on my 84 CWWO's. Not sure if I should use Boiled linseed oil, mineral or what. Any suggestions?
  6. I was going to put it just above the tv, but only after I build a rack that hangs from the ceiling. I have a RPT and I believet the tubes are on the bottom, so would I not effectively get 18" from the height of the screen itself? I haven't held it there, but even if it doesn't work I will still use the rack for dvd player, dvds and various paraphenalia. I am also hoping that by having a 3/4 base between the speaker and the television will offer some further isolation. That along with the bucking magnet I hope will do the trick. How do you guys with Belles, LS and CW get away with them as centers and not encounter the same problem, use front projection? Is a DLP just as susceptible to magnetic interference? \ Sam
  7. I just emailed the guy, we will see what happens. I have 14's and these would go upstairs in the 2nd HT. I have family all throughout that area, so picking them up would be a breeze. Will keep you guys posted
  8. I already have Dean doing his "magic" for my setup, but I must say I am jazzed, so is my 10 yr. old son, because he get the Altec model 14's for the play room along with the pioneer sx-880. Dana, went to Madisound and immediately overwhelmed. What size should I get for heresy? Thanks again for keeping an eye out.
  9. My Cornwalls that is!!!. I just picked them up from the barge, humped them up my stairs (bad back and all), and proceeded to unpack. Not a scratch, and Pat even left me a little gift.........seems a big Ol hornet went for a ride tucked in the bubble wrap. He survived the ride but not my foot. After being stung and bitten by them I have no mercy, but I digress. Like I said not a scratch (nice pack job Pat), so I hooked them up as rears, moved a heresy to the center, and put on Stevie Ray Vaughn and double trouble. Wow, does it sound awesome!!! I think it is also because I took the rc3 II off the center and put the heresy there. It really liven things in room. Now time to switch to a movie.....Saving Private Ryan in DTS (seems to sound better to me compared to DD). I immediately noticed the difference. In the very beginning when the flag is waving I could actually hear it rustle, which I never had before. When Ryan is walking along the dirt path to CPT. Millers headstone I could hear the pebbles crunching under his feet, it just makes it that much more real. My dad was a WWII vet, fought in the Jungles of the Phillipines. I saw this movie for the first time with him. He passed away this past May. He wanted to be buried at sea, which just ocurred two weeks ago (because he wasn't cremated they had to wait for a Navy ship to do this). As it turned out he went out on the oldest "Gator Freighter" in the fleet, which coincidently is what he sailed over to the Pacific on, so it was fitting. He was an Army man but loved the sea. He was a neat man,as all of our fathers are/were. No BS here, he became a green beret after the war and college, and was 40 years old when he went through jump school at Ft. Benning, Ga. I digress again. Anyhow, the combination of the CW's and moving the Heresy's to the center has made in immediate and noticeable improvement. My only concern now is the fact that the heresy messes up the picture. The RC3-II didn't,but it was above the tv. I will do the same with the heresy to see if it fixes the prob. Any suggestions there? Needless to say I am very pleased, and will do some more intent listening and report back.
  10. petrol wrote "I have hopes of finding a Logitech Harmony880 in my stocking to cure that problem". Mine arrvived via UPS the other day. What a difference it makes. My wifes' biggest complaint was there were too many remotes and didn't know what to push to get this to work or that to work. Now all she does is press the button next to the "watch DVD" and WHAMO the HK turns on and goes to DVD, the cd player fires up and opens the tray and the tv turns on and switches to input 1!!! Logitech has it dialed. Now only 1 remote, the wife is happy and I can get more Heritage!!!!!!![]
  11. Classic audio can answer you question. looks like 130-400 price range. the link http://www.classicaudio.com/value/pio/index.html
  12. yep, those are the ones, but in all honesty I would rather have new ones from you, that way I know exactly what I am getting. I will keep an eye on them unless I hear from you.
  13. What is the going price for ALK's for cornwalls. I would like to get a pair for the cornwall I's I have coming tomorrow. They are 21 years old so I am sure they need some sprucing up and have heard nothing but great things about ALK's. These are on ebay, but not sure what they normally sell for.
  14. I was told enamel coated magnet wire is great to use for speaker wire. What is the consensus. If not what do most of you use?
  15. So............. What about crossovers. Are they vastly different between the I's and II's? My I's will be here this weekend. Are the II's that much better that I should be on the lookout for k-57k's and K-79's. Also what crossovers are prefered.
  16. I am surprised TBrennan hasn't chimed in and told you to take a match to them like he did mine.[]
  17. Congrats, I was going to bid on them myself, but thought he was going to be difficult when it came to shipping them. I am glad it worked out well for you. It all worked out well for me though because I got another pair, granted I payed more, but not too much more. I hope you enjoy them as I know I will mine. I actually got to listen to them before purchasing, a luxury I didn't get when I got my LaScala's. I am already looking into getting new xovers for them as I did the same for the LS and it made a big difference. I figure mine are 21 years old and all original so it is time. Did you get I's or II's? Anyhow, enjoy!!!
  18. Yepper, I got mine for almost half that price and in just as good condition. Heck, factor in the shipping and I am sure I got them for less than half. They should have been put on the barge today, meaning I will see them this Sat. or Mon.
  19. After listening to music via tube last week, I would like to see about getting one. What is the general consensus on Jolida? Or is there somewhere else I should look in the 700- 1000 dollar price range? Thanks for any input.
  20. I didn't have to wait for long. Thanks to D-man here on the forum, he let me know of another forum member (Pbear) who has.............er, had a pair of Cornwalls for sale. He had just won them on ebay, but decided he liked the CW II's bass better then the I's he had just won. Just before I headed down to Seattle I rcvd and email from D-man. I went to Pat's house Wed night and had me a listen.....wow!!!. He had them hooked up to an ASL amp (only 3 watts) and proceeded to play some vinyl for me. It was audio bliss. Well needless to say I now own a set of 1984 CW I's in beautiful shape, he is packing them up to be shipped on Wed. So, week after next I will have an all Heritage system!! 1989 LaScalas, 2005 Heresy's and 1984 CW's. I think it all dwarves my new rsw12, but I will still leave it hooked up. I was warned the slope was slippery, how true, how true. The best thing of all is that SWMBO of 17 years hasn't batted an eye. Just makes it all that much nicer. I guess I need to update my Signature now []
  21. Easy, just have them sent to Seattle and put them on Alaska Marine Lines. Have them 3 days later. They take great care of all the stuff they barge. My LaScalas, Heresy's Big screen tv and even our new Maxima arrived without a scratch, and the speaker only cost 28 bucks to send. So all in all it is not an issue at all. They have a good system going. I really would like to get a pair of CW's. Have them in the rear with LS up front and heresy's in the center.......oh Yeah. So, if anyone knows let me know. Thanks Cheers
  22. Dang, was prepared to spend 850.00 on em and got outbid. How much would be reasonable? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:ONA:US:31&Item=5827398719
  23. I thought about more LaScala's, but have my eye on a pair of CW's, then it will be all Heritage HT. []
