  1. 95% complete. Picking up furniture this weekend in VA. A few holes to patch and wires to hide but 100% functional. I could not be happier with the results. It is time to sit back and enjoy 6 months of work and a couple of dollars spent.
  2. Another vote for the Panny. I saw a sick deal on a 700 unit on Projector Central (one of their vendors). 1500 got you the 700U projector and a $350 replacement lamp.
  3. I would also recommend Audio Alloy and Ted White, They definitely have a great product in 'Green Glue.' There is no more cost-effective sound isolation product that I am aware of. I had similar challenges in my HT and Music room which is directly above our master bedroom, I used the GG product betwwen two layers of 3/4" subfloor and between layers of 1/2" drywall. My goal was to be able to listen to music at moderate volume without waking up my wife and kids. It worked but cost me an additional $1,500 to 2,000 in additional materials and the GG in addition to alot of extra work (15 x 18 room). I would also suggest an acoustic sealant around the lights, recepacles, etc.
  4. I guess I should have bben more specific. I use 12 gauge wire and wanted to find the spades that fit the Klipsch Heritage and Mac strips without having to bend them. I'll send Audio Classics a request because I know that they have them that fit perfectly. I thought that parts Express might have them as well.
  5. I remember buying a few from Audio Classics a couple of years back but I can't find them on their website. Any idea on the size and where I can pick up a couple dozen? Thanks.
  6. sweet, that is EXACTLY what I need. I had planned on spending $150, but that is close. I'll see if I can find a deal. Thanks for the help.
  7. I just got my new HT set up and have lost the remote to my NAD receiver. Dohh!! I figure it is time to get the universal. I need something that would have my NAD commands. I used a Sony a couple of years ago and had to program the receiver commands one-by-one. Obviously, I can't do this without the remote. Any suggestions??
  8. It's not silly at all, but why not add another chorus II instead? It would be a perfect match and a lot less money.
  9. I know that you said you preferred new, but please put that $600 towards a nice used pair of Fortes.
  10. $1,200 demos http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1142290161
  11. I actually used these amps to drive a pair of KHorns that I owned for a short time. I bought them thinking they would be in my HT and 2 channel systems in my new house, but room constraints forced me to sell them and use La Scalas. They did a fabulous job with a tight, punchy low end. The amps are very smooth and musical for a SS amps. The only downside to these is that they do run hot. I am told that this is usually the case with Class A SS, but this is the only pair that I have owned. Sound-wise, they really are nice little amps. Unfortunately, I took on too many projects and spent way too much money in '05, so I am forced to sell them.
  12. K-400 Horns - I have three available. Two are normal and one I tried to make a smooth surface using Bondo with the intention of painting in a gloss finish. The 3rd K-400 will need to be painted. No drivers. Make offer - I am not sure what they are worth. Monarchy Audio SE-100 Basic Mono Pair. Excellent sounding Single-Ended Class A. $550 Monarchy Audio Passive Pre / Volume Control for Single Source. $50 Single La Scala - Dark Stained Birch McIntosh MC240 Tube Cage Thanks.
  13. I am in NC and have a single La Scala available. Put that in the center and use your heresys on the side for an all heritage HT. It's tough to beat.
  14. Greg, I had the 511s on top of the La Scalas for a while and I love the sound. I had to get them mounted because I have a very curious 4 year old. Daddy what is this? Clank! I HAD to get the cabinets done. No tube gear on the floor at my house! I see the 902s and 2404s in my future. I actually thought seriously about running them as 2-ways and will probably experiment a bit with different drivers/configurations to see what I like. The cabinet mod is a piece of cake for anyone who knows what they are doing. When I ran that add, I found a bunch of guys that wanted to show off their tools - it was great. BTW, sweet system. That Shanling stuff is great - I love the looks of it. The only piece that I have heard was a tube CD player, T-100 maybe? It sounded sweet. I haven't heard any of their amps. How do you like 'em? Also, can you elaborate on vibe control? And, yes, I love Boogie Nights. How much can you bench? Finally, I love that the Raiders suck - I'm a Chiefs fan!!
  15. Greg, I am doing a similar project. I also added 511Bs but am running 3-way with upgraded AA networks. I had the altec horns sitting on the top of the cabinets but could not deal with it any longer. Running the LS as 3-ways presents more of a problem due to the placement of the tweeter. My speakers were bought from Audiogon about a year ago and the cabinets were nothing special, so it was a little easier to cut into. Oh yeah, I am not particularly handy or skilled with tools or woodworking. Good luck finding a cabinet shop to work for $25 an hour. Unless you have a hookup, that probably won't happen. I put an add on craigslist. Wanted: Woodworking Help. I said I needed a guy with a shop and some skills and received 5 replies within a week. I took three La Scalas over to the guy's shop at his house that I felt most comfortable with. Two of the speakers cabs were extended. For the third, we lopped off the top section and I made a split LS to fit under/over my projector screen. The whole project took about 6 hours and I paid him $150 and got him baked. It was a fun day and I learned alot. I took them home and sanded them and will be priming and painting later in the week. I understand that you do not want to cut your precious La Scala.. With a little oil-based primer, sanding, and brushed oil-based paint, they will look far better than the factory paint job. It will also be the easiest and most cost-effective. I will post some pics this weekend of the final product. We basically added 3.875" to the cabinet using 'biscuit joints'. Basically, you make a thin cut through the middle of the plywood and insert small wood pieces (or biscuits) to add a little strength and help with alignment of the wood. With the wood glue, these cabs are as strong as the originals. Don't let the ugly pics scare you. There is also some wood putty in the holes where the previous owner did a crappy job of adding a decorative trim. I am going to paint them black and may veneer them in the future. I want to enjoy them for a while first. Good luck with your project.
  16. It's the gift that keeps on giving all year round, Clark. Who is a better character than cousin Eddie?
  17. Sounds like a nice hookup on a pair of Quartets. This forum is great, huh? I agree that qaurtets or fortes are excellent speakers and the absolute best value in the Klipsch line. I hope my sons are as good as you are, lol.
