  1. Randyh, I prefer not to ship them. I'd rather someone come see them and pick them up, to know what they're getting. Plus shipping these huge cabinets doesn't seem to work well with UPS or USPS. You'll get a $150+ shipping cost + packaging and most likely damaged cabinets. Nailbender
  2. Come on up and bring some music. I'll show you what these speakers can do.
  3. aj01: Tweeter is 4-1/4" X 2" for Crites tweeter. Mid horn is 14-3/8" X 9" for plastic horn Woofer is 14" dia for Crites cast woofer. The cabinet measures 25-1/2" W X 15-3/4" D X 36" H with a 2" riser.
  4. No, but I'm flying to my brother's wedding in Cincinnati at the end of the month.
  5. No, but I'll check. I built them while stationed at Hurlburt Field.
  6. I build these about 3 years ago. They are in good condition with Marshall cane grills. No drivers or crossover included. E-mail for pics. Local pickup in Cheyenne Wy. Thanks, Brian
  7. Mine work great, but I have nothing yet to compare them to. I removed the screen from mine with a pair of needlenose pliers.
  8. Klipschaholics, I'm reconstructing my Cornscalas out of solid oak now. For aesthetic reasons only. They are currently birch plywood. I've now come to the motorboards. Components I have are Crites woofers, Fastrac horn w/ Atlas PD-5VH driver and Crites CT-125 tweeters. The crossover is a B3 I believe. The only change to the original dimension is 18" deep cabinets instead of 16" in case I change the mid horns & drivers. Now the questions... What ports would work best? What port shelf depth should I use? Should I use some sound absorbing padding or foam inside the cabinet? I think my next mod will be AP 12 600 & ES5800. Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian
  9. This would require a new 2" tractix horn, expensive driver and new crossovers. Seems uneeded but is it better sounding? I guess it would be time aligned.
  10. Thanks Gothover! That is exactly the kind of stuff I need to know. How much deeper will the cabinet need to be with the driver and adapter? Is the Altec 902 an upgrade from the Atlas driver?
  11. My tinkering is getting the best of me. While my Blueberry is getting repaired I thought I might upgrade the mid driver or crossover on my Cornscalas. My current system is a VRD amp with a JuicyMusic Blueberry Extreme II pre. Sources are a Jolida JD-100A and a Sony Tuner. I built these Cornscalas myself out of birch plywood with all of Bob's components originally. I'll be building new cabinets this spring. Right now they are equipped with a Crites woofer/tweeter and an Atlas PD-5VH mid with a Fastrac horn. My crossover is a universal pattern built by Dave if I remember correctly.I am thinking an ALK AP12-500 & ES5800 networks, but if I upgrade the mid driver, I don't want to replace it again. I've even contemplated an Altec 902-16 mid driver. Would this adapt to my current crossover? I'm a simple man... technical graphs and charts not my cup of tea... Thoughts on which is my best course of action for audio bliss? Thanks for any help in advance.
  12. I think my answer may be hardwood furniture grade Cornscalas that match my stereo stand. I'll just have to find a home at my next duty location to fit them in! They are kind of cramped in my current home. The driving force is my wife nagging about the size of my Cornscalas, but if were oak or cherry she could warm up to them a little easier. This time I may spend the extra money and go with a 2" mid driver and matching wood tractix horn. No regrets about my Marshall cane grill cloth though. I'd go with corner horns or Jubilees but placement is so diffiult in common living rooms. Any other suggestions or ideas?
  13. Thebes gets to the point quick! I respect that! I have a hard time with MDF speakers too. I think I may try to find some RF-7 IIs to demo. I'd hate to take a step backward in stereo sound quality.
  14. Forum Members, I write this looking for constructive opinions, comments, advice and suggestions. I am contemplatring buying a set of RF-7 IIs to replace my Cornscalas. I move frequently in the military and plan a move this summer to God knows where. Hopefully Germany. These would certainly please my wife and be easier (versatile) to place in almost any living space. If I need more bass reinforcement I could add a sub. My current system is a VRD amp with a JuicyMusic Blueberry Extreme II pre. Sources are a Jolida JD-100A and a Sony Tuner. I built these Cornscalas myself out of birch plywood. They turned out pretty well with Crites woofer, tweeter and Atlas PD-5VH mid with a Fastrac horn. My crossover is a universal pattern built by Dave if I remember correctly. My first question... is this a good move? What other options do I have without a complete redo of my system. I listen to a variety of music, but rock is the genre I listen to loud. Thanks in advance, Brian.
  15. Take a look at this Craigslist ad! http://okaloosa.craigslist.org/fuo/2075655050.html
  16. That is a great saw! When shopping for a new saw I tested and lusted after this saw, but the cost was much more. Fingers don't have a cost though. I bought a Grizzly after selling my Unisaw and happy with it. I've been lucky with my fingers so far.
  17. Got mine in April and love them! Everything I'll ever need with my Cornscalas.
  18. Don, The power supply in your Blueberry is the updated one. The only difference I see are the construction of the chassis and cabinet plus a remote. Sonically I could not tell it apart from my Extreme with the same tubes. You'll have no problems finding the knobs with the colored faceplate. Brian.
  19. Hklinker, I'm stationed at Hurlburt Field.
  20. Sweet TT!!! You may gasp at this, but I was contemplating sandblasting and painting mine matte black.
  21. I hope this works. I made the plinth from birch plywood.
