  1. I have nine big speakers: 4 RF-7s, 4 KLF-30s, and an RC-7. I, at least with my system, must agree with the THX recommendation. I have tried all different settings and by far the best sounding, and the best slam with bass, is with all set to small. I have my crossover on the RSW-12 set to inactive, and let my receiver do the crossover at 80hz. I have changed the setting on the crossover and always come back to the THX specifications as sounding best. I have had my wife change settings to test me in what sounds better (without me knowing what was changed, or to what extent), and I always choose the same. The nice thing about this is less power from the amplifier (or receiver) is being used to produce bass, allowing more power to the mids and highs, with the amp in the sub doing most of the work for bass.
  2. I have a Yamaha as well, so I am familiar with the speaker level setting. Unless there is a reason, I would keep everything set at 0. I have two pair of front speakers, so to offset this, I have to increase the level of power to the surrounds. Additional, I set the center to +6, otherwise it is drowned out by the fronts. If you have smaller rear speakers, it might be better to increase the output to them. You should be able to go into your settings and also input the distance of the speakers from your listening position. I have tried the 'YPAO,' but prefer to adjust the settings manually. Good luck.
  3. I have replaced a tweeter diaphragm on my Chorus speakers, more than once. The first time I replaced both, even though only one needed fixing. Subsequent times (twice, I think) I replaced only one. I noticed no difference.
  4. I am presently watching and listening to Rachael Madow Ph.D (Rhodes Scholar) on the TV. My chair is quite comfortable and I am listening to CAT STEVENS, in the background.
  5. I have traveled abroad; I have studied; I served this country in the military. I don't view life, religion, or what our government purports, through a "narrow opening." You are making a statement presupposing a number of things about me, and implying limitations, either intrinsic or, "media" created, in my ability, as well as in the ability of others, to discern and make logical conclusions. It seems you are making an ad hominem attack without supporting your position with examples. I would like to go to an Islamic nation someday, just as I would like to visit Israel. However, I am quite happy to continue living in my country, where I can freely listen to CAT STEVENS.
  6. I almost forgot to add: Cat Stevens made great music.
  7. The ecclesiastical mendacity of christianity is a threat to humanity. Humans are a threat to humanity. In the large scheme of things, humanity will end, at some point. Islam is no more likely to be the culprit than any other religion.
  8. Neo33, do you not believe Islam to be a religion because it is just a bunch of mythology like christianity? As you stated, this isn't a place to discuss religion, but you did so after denouncing one of the world's main religions. I like his music but was troubled by the stance he took on the Rushdie issue (supposedly).
  9. I first became familiar with his great music when watching 'Harold and Maude,' many years ago. It is a very funny movie.
  10. That would be impressive! I may just take you up on the offer sometime. I am always trying to get the wife to allow us to take US 27 and US 98 to visit her parents, as it much more scenic. (She prefers the turnpike.)
  11. Validation of my system from the likes of you guys is quite nice. I will have a fire extinguisher on standby.
  12. I believe the Aragon 2007 and 2002 are class A for the first 20 or so watts, just like the Yamaha.
  13. I have four RF-7s for fronts and an RC-7 to accompany it. I have four KLF-30s doing surround duty. Today I pushed it past the point where prior I had popped the 10 amp fuse in the Aragon 2007. It seemed like I had plenty of room to go, as it is now only pushing five channels. I have never blown the fuse on the 2002. It is just a little bittersweet, as I now understand it when people mention RF-7 being a little "shrill" at high volume. I will be contacting DeanG, when I am in a financial position. I do not listen often at this volume, then only for a few minutes, so it isn't too pressing. Still, I am very pleased with the RF series, but like the KLF at least as much. I would like to swap fronts for rears at some point, but this would involve a lot of labor.
  14. I took a chance and hooked it up last night. I am not able to discern difference between the speakers being pushed by the Yamaha and the Aragon, in terms of volume or type of sound. The lights don't dim when I turn it up, so I guess all is good. Today I turned it up and have a couple of observations: It is quite loud with less than one watt being pushed by each respective amp. When they are pushing between 60-100 watts (as indicated by the meters on the front of the M-70), it is incredibly loud, yet perfectly clear. I will follow the instructions from the site, out of curiosity, to find out what type of load this puts on the circuit. Thanks for the response.
  15. What happened to my paragraph separation?
  16. I currently have what I call a pseudo 9.1 system. I have a Yamaha RX-V2400 receiver that is hooked up to an Aragon 2007 amplifier (7*200) and a Aragon 2002 amplifier (2*200). From the from pre-outs on the receiver, I have it split going to both amps, enabling me to have two sets of front speakers. It sounds incredible, and the only compensation I must make is to increase the output to the surrounds, rears, and center, but just a little. I recently resumed possession of a Yamaha M-70 (2*200) amp that I had lent out. I am contemplating changing my setup wherein the 2007 only pushes the surrounds, rears, and center, and hooking up the front speakers that had been being pushed by the 2007 to the M-70. I don't know anything about electricity and how much one can hook up to a circuit, so I need to ask: is this a bad idea? Presently I have the Aragon amps and the receiver plugged into a Belken Pure AV PF-60. Could I also plug in the M-70? If not, would it be ok to just use another outlet? I am doing this more for looks than anything, as I cannot turn it up past +3 anyway due to loud how loud it is. However, if it will make a noticeable difference in the electric bill, I would probably forgo the change. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  17. I am curious to hear what others thought of this movie; I loved it. It is a shame it had a limited release.
  18. Thanks for the compliment. The sub is a RSW-12. I use a Yamaha receiver for a preamp. The power is supplied by an Aragon 2007 and an Aragon 2002, 200x7 and 200x2, respectively. I split the main speaker out on the Yamaha and have two sets of front speakers, each powered by a separate amp. It sounds incredible in 7 channel stereo. When I watch movies, I have to set the center, surrounds, and rears to a higher output to match the two sets of front speakers. But this doesn't detract from the incredible sound. If I had the money, I would have 6 Aragon 2002s or comparable, and would have two center channels and three sets of mains. Then, upon realizing the rears and surrounds were deficient, would purchase more amps and speakers. I haven't yet, however, figured out how to get my wife to acquiesce and allow my plan to come to fruition.
  19. I posted a few dozen pages back, but have changed a few things. I use additional RF-7s and KLF-30s for surrounds and rears. And I know what you may think: I should have matching fronts and matching rear and surrounds. Well, I have thought of changing to having all the RF-7s up front, but unfortunately the KLF-30s don't fit as well in the doorway where I have the surrounds. I would love to some day test to see if there is better sound this way, but it sounds incredible as it is. I call it our house of Klipsch. My wife calls it a monstrosity. I think our 15 month old son is siding with me; he loves the sound and reverberations.
  20. I use a pair of RF-7s as my surrounds, and a pair of KLF-30s for my rear speakers. These are to accompany the RF-7s and KLF-30s I have as my front speakers. The sound is incredible. I sit in my chair (in the sweet spot) and visulize another set of front speakers (KLFs or RFs), mounted by brackets extending from the ceiling. (This would, of course, require another Aragon 2002.) When I share my visualazation with my wife, she tells me she will leave me if this ever manifests. I guess she feels the almost 900 pounds of speakers in our livingroom is enough; I am still trying to dissuade her.
  21. Audition. Will definately NOT be for everyone; however, I believe, and outstanding movie. If you watch it, just remember, what was put into the bowl was real.
