  1. Looks like I got lucky and found a pair of Cornwalls in Canada for my gym. I am super psyched and can't wait to get these on the go. Thanks guys for helpping me out.
  2. Cornwall Vault? I guess I should do a search.
  3. Sounds kinda like a "Fortress of Solitude..." My God! You're SUPERMAN!! lol...if you only knew how close you are with that you'd laugh too!
  4. Actually I live in two different places. My internet is through satellite and it blows but at least I can go online so it’s not all bad. One place the only way in or out is by air and there is no Wal-Mart...nothing[] I won't go into much detail because I have worked a long time for the DOJ and deal with a lot of murderer/molester types. The second place is an island on the east coast and that's where I will be shipping the speakers. There is a Wal-Mart but not much else so local sales are of the low end variety. The Cornwall cabinets look pretty simple but I won't have time to build speakers because I will be working on my house and building my home gym. On other forums Cerwin Vega CSL215, JBL JRX125 & Axiom M80 v2 were suggested. The Axiom M80 price includes shipping so it works out the same for me. I like the pro look of the JRX125 for a gym but I can’t audition any of these speakers so I would appreciate input on how these stack up to the one’s we’ve been discussing. I’m still hoping to get Cornwalls or KLF-30’s but I may have to look at other brands if I want to get speakers any time soon.
  5. I wish it was that simple. Only way out is to fly so a road trip is out of the question. lol I only have a 3 month window of use for the next year so if I don't find some soon I will put it off until then.
  6. Yeah I've looked there but no one wants to ship anything...local pickup only. I don't get it, if I'm paying for the shipping why would the seller care? Can someone enlighten me here plz? If I have to buy locally it would be at Walmart. lol
  7. Unfortunately I havn't had much luck so far. I have found several of the speakers listed plus KLF-30's & RF-7's but no one wants to ship their speakers. I'll just have to keep looking but they are much harder to find in Canada and are usually located in a city where they can be sold localy. Sucks to be me. lol
  8. I'm building a new home gym that is approx 15x26 and I need a pair of speakers that will blow the place up. I'd like to keep it under $1000 and they don't have to be new. I don't plan to add a sub so they need dig deep for the heavy gym tunes. Ultimately they just need to be loud to cover that fact that I'm a screamer. lol Please advise. Thanks!
  9. I have a Goo screen that I painted on a sheet of dibond. I also have a Dalite HiPower screen and the Goo is the better screen with all 3 DLP projectors that I have used with them. The Goo screens have been compared to the Stewart screens on several occasions and in blind comparisons have tied for the top spot. When you consider the low price you can't go wrong. They also have different top coats for different applications. BTW dibond is great for a portable screen because it is light and rigid.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  10. I'm currently living in the Arctic and the house I'm building is in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Newfoundland. I feel pretty safe in saying that there are no THX HT room design engineers on the rock. One thing I want is isolation or sound proofing in addition to decent room acoustics. I want to be able to crank up the volume and not disturb anyone on the second floor. The area I have for this is in the basement & 3 of the 4 walls are concrete. I think the room dimensions are either 16 or 18 feet wide by 32 or 34 feet long with an 8 foot ceiling. Those dimensions maybe off a little because I don't have the blue prints in front of me. I can shorten the length if need be for better sound but I need the width. If I had my time back I would of went with 10 foot ceilings but whats done is done. Im not above paying a company to draw up plans for the best design possible with this space so if anyone has any links to these type of services I would appreciate it. This room is where my family will spend most of their time so I dont mind spending a few buck to do it right. At this point the exterior of the building is just about completed and I plan to finish the interior over the next couple of years on a pay as I go basis. Personally I dont really care about the rest of the house because my deal with the wife is she can do what she wants with the interior design as long as I can do what I want with the HT room. Thanks. Christmas Eve pic. Exterior should be finished by next week. Partial view of the area I have to work with.
  11. What program do you guys recommend for doing a 3D layout of the room plans?
  12. I just built a new house and I'm planning to construct a HT room. I have not done much research about this for the past couple of years so I imagine there are new ideas, materials and so on. All I'm looking for right now are some links to info for the beginning stages of the room & any other useful info so I can bone up on this before I start. Thanks.
  13. The matching speakers to complete your system would be RC-35 center speaker RS-35 surround speakers<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> You are also going to need a sub but you will have to do more research on this because how you intend to use your system and money will be the deciding factors. Personally the sub is one of the most important pieces in my system. A movie like War Of The Worlds can be ho hum or it can scare the crap out of you, I prefer the latter.
  14. https://www.digitalconnection.com/store/Product_List.asp?CID=3&CAT=VIDEO%20ACCESSORIES A VGA to component transcoder will give you the best results but if you are not using a HDTV I would just go for a video card with S-video out. I have not used the Key Digital or the Audio Authority transcoders because all of my displays have either VGA or DVI but they are susposed to be good.
  15. No I have not purchased one but I was going to recommend it to a friend because he is getting a Sony HT. Now I don't think I will. The only thing is that for the limited amount of searching I have done the only negative stuff is by this one guy but he has posted in a lot of places. Makes me wonder if it is an isolated case because my thinking is a common problem would be all over the net. People who have a problem are more likely to post than people who don't so I find it strange that there are no reports from anyone else. Could also be that very few have bought them because of their initial high price which would explain the low number of user reviews. In addition the very low price that they are selling for right now leaves me wondering why?? The guy could also have a problem with his setup or service or he could just be an idiot. I do know that the Quintets are a decent speaker for their price range but I wont have an opportunity to test the system until late July and my friend wants to buy in the next week or two so I will steer him somewhere else. Im not going to take the chance of making a bad recommendation just because it has Klipsch on the label. I guess Ill just have to file this one away with the Loch ness Monster and Bigfoot and chalk it up as one of lifes big mysteries.
  16. chuckears any more info? I am also considering a Sherbourn 7/2100A as a future upgrade and would be interested to hear others impressions of their products.
  17. Anyone have one of these and if so are you having any sound sink problems with the digital connection?
  18. Nope, I'm on there too but I used an IceberQ 4-Pro heat sink with Tweakmonster BGA Ramsinks front and back and two 120mm low rpm fans. Works fine!
  19. I have not heard this system but the price looks like it is 1/3 or less of what it was Christmas and I see the same warning message posted everywhere Quote: don't waste your money on a Samsung HT-SK5, March 1, 2004 The HT-SK5 is a lemon--don't buy it. Although the sound quality is great, the audio doesn't match the video when you're using a digital input, like digital HDTV. So, the lips don't match the words on any digital stations. It made it impossible to watch any HDTV programming, which essentially was why I bought it. After 3 months of dealing with Samsung's poor technical support, including shipping the product back to Samsung, I learned from Samsung that they can't fix the problem, and they don't have a replacement product that would work better. The only thing more frustrating than the audio sync problem was Samsung's awful technical support. The staff was poorly educated about their own products, they never returned calls or e-mail like they promised, and seemed to have no concern for their customers. Don't waste your money--in fact, Samsung treated me so poorly, I can't recommend buying any Samsung products.
  20. That's a little better core than mine with air. 445/770 @ 105F (idle) and 123-125F (load). Can't wait to see what the new cards will do!
  21. I'll wait for the R420 to see which is best before I purchase. I've seen some screen shots with the 6800 compared to the 9800 and thought it runs much better frame rates I was not impressed with the over all quality. The 9800 was better in this department but I'm sure Nvidia will sort it out. Here's the link to the shots so you can see for yourself http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040414/geforce_6800-46.html pinipig523 just curious what clock speeds you are getting out of a watercooled 9800? I believe the stock speeds are Core 380Mhz and Memory 680Mhz.
  22. I disagree in that I believe the Reference Sats will easily handle your room size. Their sensitivity rating though not the highest that Klipsch puts out are higher than most other speakers on the market. This means that the sheer volume from the speakers will be more than all but the insane will require. I have mine in a room a little bigger than yours and they have no problem overwhelming you. They will rock the entire apartment let alone the room so to me this is not an issue. Their frequency response does drop off pretty quick below 80-90Hz but that is where your sub when set properly through your receiver will take over. Without a sub you would be at a disadvantage but mine blend in fine with a sub. I have 4 surround systems (5 if you count the ProMedias) and all of them are Klipsch except one. I have ProMedias, Synergy bookshelf, Reference towers and Reference Sats and my Sats when combined with a sub compare very favorably with my RF-3s. I by no means would call them mediocre and even with the Synergy line I would be a little reserved about saying so. All you have to do is go listen and all your concerns will be resolved. I am in no way saying they are better than the bigger Reference Series but anyone who dismisses these Sats must not have heard them. If you want satellite speakers these are some of the best out there and IMHO have no competition in their price range. Dont believe me, go listen! Go to the ProMedia 5.1 General forum for some more info on the RSX-4's and 5's.
  23. Don't know if it was mentioned but Rat Shack in Canada was bought by Circut City. Wonder how that will go?
  24. Agreed! Far Cry is one of the best games in a long time. The only big let down is finishing the game because that means no more Far Cry. Can't wait for the mods. I've been playing a lot of new games lately PC UT 2004 (big let down) Rainbow Six 3 Athena Sword Vietcong Fist Alpha Battlefield Vietcong Black Hawk Down Team Sabre XBox Mx Unleashed Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow The Suffering James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing All good games except Unreal Tournament 2004, feels like the same old thing even with the vehicles. Waiting for Half Life 2, Doom 3, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, Painkiller and Halo 2.
