tv, after talking w/ the vel PR/Tech guy i was kind of shocked when he said klipsch speaks are really too loud for their hgs subs. contrary to the dealer, says hgs are better suited for less efficient speaks. u might want to also check the dvdp settings & see if the digital out, dts,etc. are turned on.

wonder if the new rc-7 will be a good match for all the klipsch mains (ref, legend & heritage). guess we'll see/hear in may.

ray, not that specific 1 but close - the Hell Freezes Over in DTS. as many on this bb have acclaimed, the best live music recording heard to date. the 5.1 advantage could be it provides some directionality for the instruments on the stage &, well surrounds u. but otherwise the quality of sound is probably the same. i haven't heard that henley yet so sorry if i got off on another tangent. sounds like just a matter of time til u dive into surround though.

sorry bout that kd. they ordered new woofs for me for my cornwalls, but maybe that was just because i bot some other speaks from them. i'd try calling klipsch & ask them what to do before going to some 3rd party. looks like they're now off warranty, bit klipsch is still very helpful w/ their products.

bobg, I definitely agree that at least the home audio klipsch speaks are no commodity. i do really need a place to hear them & get the dealer support & service. & fortunate for me I live in a market w/ that close by. but have u set up any internet based B2B system to work w/ your dealers? it seems w/ this in place dealers could in turn provide this to customers/potential customers in their respective market areas to enhance sales. u provide a value-added service to your dealers which brings to them cost efficiencies to lower klipsch prices to better compete against other brands. in other words, these dealers in many cases are not going to do what's best for you & them unless u provide it for them while improving your value to the dealers. one problem is as far as klipsch, we as consumers face a geographic monopoly w/ your current policy. but obviously many markets have more than 1 klipsch dealer so this could prompt the stodgy dealers to get w/ the program or lose sales to the dealers who have or even to klipsch directly w/ their own B2C system as w/ the promedia line.

kd, have u tried accent sound in overland park? they have a good klipsch authorized service dept. don't know about brandsmart. or 1-800-klipsch, tech support (trey cannon). really sounds like a broke sub, but i've never worked on 1 directly myself. good luck

ray & wsn, sorry how naive of me. sorry 2 but had to chuckle ray on your encounter - sounds a lot like the time warner "tech support". hopefully the AOL takeover of Time Warner Cable (after the GOV held it up for more than 1 yr) & such is a sign of better things to come for hdtv, digital cable, wireless, broadband, etc.

& digital cable has hdtv 2 - u don't HAVE to have dss for hdtv. i can get 5.1 surround off my dig cable box 2 (w/ certain programs). i may be missing something here.

u run a digital connection from the DSS to your a/v receiver for sound & for video u can go through the receiver or directly to the tv w/ like s-video or whatever is available depending on your prefs. i've always heard u need a tuner for each tv for dss. one advantage digital cable has. are u going to run sound systems in each room off the same a/v receiver?

ahh the 70s audiophile days. is advent still around? they were pretty popular along w/ of course jbl & bose, commercially that is. besides the walsh super tweeter, anybody remember the hiel(?) driver/air transformer/whatever? i think ess for 1 used that.

mr., yea just joking/givin ya a hard time. in a nutshell, the rc-3 is not as efficient (loud) as the 7 & won't be loud enough for the klf. i think you'd be disappointed & taking the rc-3 right back saying "hey i can't hear this thing over my legend mains". no ethical/knowledgeable dealer would let u buy the 3 to put w/ the klf. i think the price on the 7 will go down but then again it may not be around new for long. u could as doug suggests look for a used, or wait for clearance. u'll need surrounds some day too (?)

mr., getting a 2nd opinion eh some reports are that the c-7 has already been discontinued by klipsch, but it's really hard to tell. my guess would be when klipsch comes out w/ their new speaks in may the klf prices will go down, but just an educated guess. but the the c-7 is the only real match as it's designed specifically for the klf mains.

that cylinder design is the answer to my space limited dreams though. how much do the magnet & assemblies weigh? being on the bottom that should be a pretty good anchor. i dont think i'd put 1 on top of my vel sub though god I need a free corner. for placement, how bout behind the couch placement, middle side wall?
