  1. LOL Doug...but I believe your comment belongs in the "Updating Older Listeners" (I mean speakers) section on the BB Dave
  2. iwillwalk, Easy...I'll give you my shipping company account number...and you just send them to me Dave
  3. Doug, I thought the KG 3.5 had a sensitivity rating of 96 db? Also, the local dealer here in Florida (Sound Advice) has been advertising a buy one get one free price of $250.00 for the KG 3.5 (black only). Dave
  4. Tom, Thanks for the long winded reply...if we didn't care about the details...we wouldn't be here! Kinda curious why Trey felt the RS-3's would be a better solution to your situation than the in-wall speaks, but I would assume that it would have something to do with the WDST design being alittle more forgiving in regards to placement. Thanks again for sharing! Dave
  5. Tom, Nice set-up! I love seeing pics of other people's systems, particularly when they are located in the types of challenging rooms so many of us seem to have these days (vaulted ceilings etc.... My mind has been mulling over the thought process you must have gone through in regards to your surround speakers (location? type? mounting?). Are you pleased with the results of your ceiling mounted RS-3's? You didn't mention a sub-woofer, yet there seems to be something resembling a sub between the fireplace and the rocking chair? Maybe that's one of those new-fangled air filter/dehumidifier/ionizer thingies made by Velodyne? THANKS FOR SHARING! Dave
  6. Gunnett, Having a center speaker that matches your front L & R is very important in home theater, so ideally you would buy the complete Quintet system (w/ matching center channel speaker). However, if you decide the price is too good on ubid...I would consider the SC-.5 instead of the SC-1. I belive it would be a better match and it is a little bit cheaper...I saw the SC-.5 for $99 at my local dealer here in Florida. There are not many Sony receiver fans here on this BB (mostly Denon & Yamaha)...I actually like the new Sony STR-DB series receivers...lots of bang for the buck in my opinion.
  7. Domain, If you can swing the extra $100...the KSW-12 will definitely make you happier than the KSW-10. I myself am a KSW-10 owner and I kick myself all the time for not spending the extra $100. Having said that...do experiment more with sub-woofer placement. I don't really believe that spending more $$$ on a new cable is going to do much to improve your bass output. Upon finding the best placement for my KSW-10 (in a corner about 6" from either wall), I found I had plenty of bass for listening to music, but still kind of lacking for some of the bigger home theater SFX. I know most people here subscribe to the "set all speakers to small / sub yes" idea...but I actually like the way my set-up sounds better when my fronts (KG-3.5's / IMHO very similar to SF-1's) are set to "large". My motto: "Don't spend more money until you are done with experimenting" Good Luck Dave
  8. No real need for built-in powered subs in the rear...What would be ideal is 3 more Heresies! If you really want Reference Series...get either the RF-3's (no powered sub) or even RS-3's and RC-3 and use the money you saved to buy a better sub. Just one man's opinion. Dave
  9. Hey Ray! What's with "XXX for Dummies"! If you or anyone else needs help with that we can't help them on this BB Dave
  10. Domain, Sounds like you already purchased the Dennon 2801? I would have suggested that you wait to see how your Sony sounded with the System 6 package first. I heard all the same complaints about non-ES Sony products, but I'm perfectly happy with my Sony STR-925. I would put the $499 towards higher end Klipsch or even more software titles! I know that there are those who feel strongly about the quality of signal path/flow..."if you send a crap signal to the best speakers...it'll sound crappy". But if you haven't even heard you speakers through your Sony yet...what's the rush buy a new receiver? Just my two cents Dave
  11. Craig, I believe Sound Advice stores are only in Florida and I don't think they sell via web or mail order. Try this web address: "http://www.wegivesoundadvice.com" Good Luck Dave PS: I'm sure all of the Legend stuff will be showing up cheap since they are discontinued
  12. Mr. Bob I'm w/ you on Oklahoma...GO K-State. Noles and Canes in the Orange Bowl....That would be sweet! Dave
  13. What's that Mr. Bob? "Whoosh...Whoosh...We got some Canes over here" crying about the BCS baby! Go Noles! Dave
  14. Colin, First Dream Weaver...then anything by Queen! I just can't sit back and let you lump Queen w/ the likes of the The Backstreet Boys...Help me out here fellas...Do you feel the same way? Dave "Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round!"
  15. We can all complain about the state of "Pop Music" today, but I'd take those boy bands over some of that sappy stuff from the 70's like: "Billy Don't Be A Hero", "One Tin Soldier", and "Muskrat Love"...man I'm shuddering just thinking about that garbage! Dave
  16. Q-Man definitely has a problem...he has way too many speakers...maybe I could take a few of those extra LaScalas off his hands for him! Seriously...I bet he can make his neighbor's ears bleed! Thanks for posting those pics John...I'll be dreaming about this all day. Dave
  17. Doug, I doubt that there are enough therapists on this BB to deal w/ all the secrets in my closet, but if you're really keeping track...It all started back in my early childhood.............................. BTW I was ashamed that I didn't remember MCS, not that I owned it. Dave
  18. Ahh the LACK of memory! How embarassing...after having fun making up names for MCS...Doug's reply reminds me that I too actually owned a piece of Jacques C. Pennier's MCS equipment...a ten band graphic equilizer now stuffed into the previously mentioned closet of abandoned audio gear...oh the shame! If memory serves (which it certainly hasn't lately!) the MCS line was actually built by Panasonic for JC Penny's
  19. Hmmm...MCS... Mega Crappy System? Muy Caliente Sh*t? My Crackly Speakers?... Wait I know!...That secret code for... BOSE!
  20. Anyone ever heard of Radian Research? I have a pair of these speakers in my closet of abandoned audio gear. I haven't seen these speakers anywhere else. I remember liking them at the time, but at that time I thought "Mickey's Big Mouth's" was a premiun beer.
