  1. As objective as your trying to be justin, your just like me, and u want to get Klipsch because of the enjoyment you got from the v.2-400. It's the same with me, I know the pros' sound quality is not the best, and I'm even a little (emphases on little) disappointed with the 5.1 sub (but it's still the best pc speaker sub u can buy). But I got them still because I had the v.2-400, which influenced my purchase.
  2. The thing with the megaworks is that gamespot put them as bad at high volumes. Of course they definately aren't audio experts, but they said the midrange and overall quality was better than all systems at medium volume, but when they were pushed, they lost all that quality. The logitech is an impressive system, with better midrange, and a better overall sub, stop arguing this. It's amazing they can sell them for that cheap. For all u people saying u like Klipsch sound more, your just saying that because u know the pros have been beat. It's hard for me to say that considering I just bought the 5.1s (at least the sub is still better) but it is true. The pros have the advantage of a lower sat xover, asthetics, and possibly a LOUDER sub, but thats it. Those advantages (if u ignore the disadvantages) are not enought to pay 3 times the price, at this level.
  3. Yeah I know, but the pros have been compared to ht when it comes to volume, and they aren't as loud as an ht, and aren't loud enough to break a mug. For the v.2-400s, there is no danger zone, just dont push the system at full for too long. The 4.1s are probably the same way, but the 3" driver on the 4.1s handle more bass, which might have a better chance of blowing. I say, if it is starting to distort, turn it down a bit.
  4. Ok, so they didnt implent the magnetic shielding of the sats right, like you said, that is amazing. There is one issue to having these for $115, I think small flaws of these speakers will appear in the next few months as people use them, I'm still amazed by the price they are selling for, there have to be little things like the magnetic shielding.
  5. Right now most people have narrowed it down to giving them away. There is no way they can make much of a profit if any for that price. Good for consumers though. Logitech is not being hurt by this, they just aren't benefitting from the sales of the speakers. Nice to see competition though, Klipsch might do something about it.
  6. Keep them on, they protect the drivers. As for the better sound, if you put that much importance on sound quality, you wouldn't have bought the pros. End of story. The only reason to not have them on is because they look cool, it's not worth risking something poking throught the driver, or dust building up on the speaker.
  7. I'm just saying that people hype the pros too much. If Omegax3000 is buy these to literally rattle his doors, he will probably be disappointed like all the other people who bought these thinking they would beat an ht system.
  8. if you get a pair of the original pros for about $150 thats worth the money, there is the midrange hole but it only bothers u when they are put head to head with another set or u really listen for it. If you didn't read that there was one u'd probably never notice it. I disagree with the build quality statement above, the control pod is not that high quality, but my old system took a few beatings and survived without any problems. The old pros are probably the best made of the pro series, and for some reason the new ones have more problems than the old.
  9. I dont know, maybe my house is built better than you guys. I refuse to believe that the pro sub did that unless u somehow loosened up the drivers to allow more excursion and u dropped the amp to 1.8 ohms at top volume making the sub at .9 ohms and a total of 320 watts rms. The 5.1 sub could not do what u speak of and is actually louder than the normal pro sub. Is it a small room that is double corner loaded (in a corner with a low ceiling)? I have pushed both the 5.1 and v.2-400s to their limits and the sub is room shaking and made some pictures rattle a little on the wall upstairs about 50 feet from where it was, but it wouldnt crack a mug or rattle a door. Your a fool to push the pros to their limits when sitting in front of them unless you just feel like loosing some of your hearing. I've pushed them when I'm more than 10 feet away in a large room and they are still on the verge of too loud to listen to (it's a little painful but barable) and yet they still dont do what u speak of.
  10. wait for ears if he comes back. The dts will clearly beat your pros, and are a great system. Although if you liked the 4.1s, you might want to go for the 5.1s if you are looking for an upgrade. They are cheaper and are just as good if not better on the low end.
  11. Dbvader, I hope those aren't in order of importance. As for me, if I became insanely rich, I'd have a bentley, ferarri of some kind, escalade, and the viper venom 800. My audio system consists of all I have heard or read about, I bet there is better. The insane system would have the krell mra and mrs, the Egglestonworks Ivy or Martin Logan Statement E2(never heard either dont know which is better), with a Theta Casablanca II, and a Meridian 861. The TV would be a pioneer $20,000 insane flat 60" plasma proscan, or one of those new Zeniths.
  12. Justin, your way overstating it. The pros loud, and though I dont know about the 4.1s, the v.2-400s "danger zone" was when they became obviously distorted. The sub has a limiter so as long as you let it kick in before you blast them, you shouldn't have a problem.
  13. ok there are the original v.2-400s, with a low gain preamp, allowing you to get insane volumes, but with major distortion. The updated preamp or 1st revision changed the gain so the top volume was not as loud, but was also not distorted. The 4.1s were released to fix the xover in the sats, because the original pros had weak midrange. The cp-1 is the control pod from the 4.1s that you can use for the v.2-400s for $50. If your looking at $200, go with the new logitech, if your looking for $300, go with the 4.1s.
  14. I'm a little different Justin, I got them, and my friends wanted and got them. Where I live, sadly, that is how it works. Pretty much anything they want they get.
  15. Try pluging them into a cd player, if you still have the problem than it is the speakers. From what you wrote it sounds like a sound card problem.
  16. No one ever minds a better sub.
  17. This is not an audiophile review, but IGN says this about the quintet sub: "The Quintet subwoofer, however, simply annihilates the ProMedia unit. 225 watts might not sound like much in today's 1000-watt market, but the little 10-inch beast pumps out enough sound for all but the largest environments and most hearing impaired listeners."
  18. Sorry but they are being sold for $150 and are a good buy. That is half the price. As for the U-shape, that probably has a lot of turbulence at high bass levels, Klipsch has it and its only 1/2 of a U. But Klipsch doesn't flare their ports so it might not be the case. Dan F, you test rms for 30 sec periods, right? So truthfully the burst in mbo is a pretty long time. And is not a peak. I doubt the logitechs can hold a "true" rms rating, which most people consider full bandwidth with low thd and something longer than just 30 sec.
  19. I'm really tired of hearing the "400 watts" of the logitech. They would not give me the way they got that number and I would not be suprised if they used the same method as Klipsch, just Klipsch has finally told the truth, they "used" to be 400 watts rms and now they are mbo, heh. Logitech won't give "real" numbers and they are doing the same thing Klipsch did when they released the pros. Yet people now think the logitech are more powerful. Why won't they tell me how they tested, cause they know that the word will get out when they tell me that it isn't true rms.
  20. Hey ear, y u always listin brands. I've seen those names from your replys too many times. Telling them names doesn't do anything, u really shouldn't even try to tell them that the pros aren't highend, it doesn't matter. I know that those companies are the cream of the crop. The people that say Klipsch pros are highend don't care that much about speakers. They would have read about better ones, or tested them at a local store if they cared about highend audio. I propose putting the list of highend in your signature so you don't have to make so many posts saying that pc speakers are NOT highend.
  21. From what I understand the farther through the alphabet you get, the more efficient, but worse sound quality. Class A is very inefficient. I think I read they produce full power when not playing anything. And use some of that power to play sounds as required. Some one correct me if I'm wrong on this. Class amps are highend, and will NEVER be used in pc systems. It's almost like having tube amps for the pros. Bash works by using a switching power supply, so it only uses the power required. I'm just checking my knowledge. Is this right Dan F? How do the AB amps work?
  22. Sorry, when I hear the word crap I take as the product your talking about is bad, poorly made, and/or DOA. The altecs really aren't bad. I just don't think something should be called crap because you can get a better product for the same price. "Crap" should refer to the actual product, so the price should not affect if it is crap, unless it is insanely overpriced.
  23. I tried to get some real stats on these things just for comparison, I got this reply (I wonder why they didn't answer): Thank you for using Logitech's Electronic Technical Support. The following information has been submitted by our technical staff in response to your original question. You may wish to print this out and/or save this on your computer. RESOLUTION: ========== Unfortunately, the information you are requesting is proprietary and cannot be provided. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the information you are requesting, as it is proprietary. All information that is non-proprietary and non-confidential is available on our web site. ??? ================ I'M NOT HAVING ANY TROUBLE, I JUST WANT TO ASK SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE Z-560S. THIS LOOKS LIKE AN IMPRESSIVE SYSTEM, AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME MORE ACCURATE STATS. THERE'S NO DOUBT THAT THEY ARE GOOD, BUT EVERY SYSTEM SO FAR HAS ADMITTED THAT THE 400 WATTS RMS IS NOT TOTALLY TRUTHFUL. HOW ARE THESE TESTS DONE? FULL BANDWIDTH, 1KHZ TEST TONE, LONGTERM, SHORTERM, .1THD, 10THD? WHAT ABOUT XOVER FROM SATS TO SUB, AND WHERE IS THE SUB CUT OFF. IS THE FREQUENCY RESPONSE +- 3DB, 6DB? I'M NOT SURE WHERE ELSE TO ASK THESE QUESTIONS, SO I'M HOPING SOMEONE CAN GET THIS ANSWERED FOR ME. http://www.logitech.globalsupport.com If you have additional technical questions regarding your product, please visit our web site at www.Logitech.com and submit your question.
