  1. If you're handy, it should be as simple as replacing the plug on the sub, or repairing the loose connection. If you're like me, I'd use it as an excuse to upgrade. I'd recommend SVS too. Velo makes some nice subs, but for example, if you compare what SVS and Velo offer at the same price point, the SVS would win 10 out of 10 times.
  2. You might want to reread the original question being asked. Who cares about the LOW-DEF Zenith DVD player as it relates to the question being asked?. He was asking a completely different question that has nothing to do with your low definition response. The fact that HDMI and DVI is the best high definition video connection is not subjective, and your LOW DEF dvd player has nothing to do with the question. The better cable, in itself, could be exactly why an upscaled low-def image from a inexpensive DVD player might look worse with digital interconnects compared to the inferior analog connection. The better cable, in itself, can expose the weaknesses and faults of an upscaled LD image by introducing more grain, more artifacts, and the lack of resolution of the LD source. In summary, it doesnt surprise me one bit why one might prefer analog over digital interconnects as it relates to a Low-Def Zenith DVD player. Oh... the irony. The analog cables could be effectively serving the purpose of something like...... beer goggles.
  3. Just wait until you play a DVD!! You'll really be excited then.......... ..............that's because XM off SAT sounds like utter garbage by comparison
  4. Very nice tommyboy[H] It looks like you're little boy is ready with the remote to turn on some sesame street. LOL My system is documented in the photo's gallery. http://forums.klipsch.com/photos/the_klipsch_gallery/tags/Buckeye_5F00_Nut+/default.aspx You can ignore the few OSU garage makeover pictures that were included[]
  5. The difference is because your Zenith DVD player's inability to upscale well.(not the cable) That's the only reason LOW-DEF 'non-upscaled' analog DVD video would look better, and that's because many DVD players do a bad job of upscaling. The question being asked is "Which cable will produce the best HD-picture", and the answer to that question is undeniable. I hope that helps to clarify things a bit[]
  6. HDMI & DVI are the hands-down & undisputed best available video connection. By contrast, whether or not you will see a noticable difference compared to analog cables is subjective. With that said, if you want the undisputed best video connection possible, you'll need to choose HDMI or DVI. BTW.... if you already own a HDMI or DVI cable from your pre-DVR days, but cant connect because of compatibility between components, all you need is an adapter....... not a new cable.
  7. I have the RXV-2500, and YPAO only equalizes down to 65hz. If you're really concerned about good sound, you'll definitely want to hang acoustic treatments. With bass trapping in the corners & absorption at first reflection points....... you will be amazed at how much better your system will sound.
  8. You should, at least, be able to get 20% off MSRP on most speakers. You have some nice selections above too. My only recommendation is that for the money, I'd go with the SVS PB10-NSD over the Klipsch sub10.(both are roughly the same price) The SVS goes deeper, and I think it will do a better job with the demanding movie soundtracks. Enjoy...
  9. My HT is complete for awhile. Well.... at least until the HD/BR war dust settles, or my 65" dies. My gift to me will be the renewal of my annual golf membership for 2007. LOL
  10. The RF52s should be fine, but I also agree with the other persons comment that for a modest $$$ upgrade to the RF82, you get a nicely upgraded speaker. You'll also want to be sure to include a quality sub because it will make a huge difference while watching movies. I'd recommend a large SVS sub.
  11. I'd say you made out pretty darned good. At prices like that, I'd be worried they might be hot. LOL
  12. Acoustically speaking, a square room is the worst possible room. Try to avoid a square room if possible, but with proper acoustic treatment, a reasonably flat frequency response can be had in any room. SVS subwoofers are excellent, and you might consider Cornwalls, Herseys, or Heritage for surrounds & center. Good luck....
  13. That's a complete ripoff. Even before that line was discontinued, you could easily get a brand new one for a little under $400 with a little negotiation. You can even get the new & improved RC-62 for under $400. (I only paid $350 for mine new from a dealer)
  14. Just place the sub on a floormat[H] I wouldnt recommend placing stuff on the sub because it will eventually end up on the floor. LOL
  15. LOL..... Apparently, my mother no longer exists. When I typed my name, I got 37. When I typed my mothers, ZERO was the answer.
  16. LOL... I was thinking the same thing. Just imagine how good it will sound once you take it out of the box. []
  17. LOL @ the college pics...... Woah... brings back memories. Maybe I'll scan a couple of my retro 80's party-pics to share from when I was a crazy college kid...... hahah....I sure have my share of them!! Geez, now that I think about it.... I may have to burn them, because when I die..... I wont want them handed down for posterity. Geez...... I dont want my future grandkids seeing many of those!!! "Look, here is grandfather doing a beerbong....look, who are these naked girls posing with grandpa?" The thought of that gives me the shivers.......
  18. I have two signs from heypaulheypaula (DTS & DD), and I agree... they are quite excellent!! Now... if only I could buy a nice Klipsch sign too[]
  19. I'd like to purchase a nice Klipsch plaque for my HT. I've seen them in photo's, but apparently they are no longer for sale. SHOW ME the plaques!! []
  20. I can understand a restocking fee on returns, but it doesnt make sense if you're upgrading to something bigger within that 30 day window. They can order whatever you want, and receive shipment in less than a week. That's so strange.... shame on the dealer.
  21. In my experience, most of the newer action flicks have crazy deep sound effects.
  22. You could always go with a pair of RB-51's for about $100 less. If you are really tight on money, you could go with a pair of RB-10s for only about $200 for a pair.
  23. You made a good choice. The new reference line cabinets are built more solidly, but then again.... they cost more too. The '35' series are excellent speakers!
