  1. The photo archives are not working. When I go to "The Klipsch Gallery" & "Different pic's from the world of Klipsch", I get a NO SKIN FOUND error. Is this going to be fixed anytime soon? PS.. "Pilgrimage 2006" does work properly.
  2. That receiver is a steal for that price. I'd be worried that it is either 'HOT' or broken at a price that low.
  3. The pilgrimage album works just fine, but everything else is gone. If you try to click on the "Klipsch gallery" or "Different pics from the world of Klipsch", you get 'Skin not found', and nothing is there. Where are the Klipsch moderators when you have a question?
  4. You'll never get 400 watts per channel from your home. Dynamic performance is what's most important, not total watts. This is to add to arthurs statement a little bit. Im no electrical wizzard, but this is my understanding as it relates to the power available in your home. For example, if a receiver was rated at 130watts/channel x7 all channels driven, it would consume 2200 watts to achieve it, but wall outlets are limited to 120x15=1800 watts!! Because the IEC mandates limit power recepticles to 15amps for safety, you'll need two power cords run on two separate dedicated circuits in your home. And that's just to achieve 130watts X 7!! To achieve 400watts per channel X 7, you're going to need to make some pretty extensive electrical upgrades in your home. The reality is as Arthur has already stated, and that is that you'll never use or need that much power in a typical practical application.
  5. When I go to the photo section of the forum, I get a message that says...... "skin not found".[] What's up with that? All of the members systems galleries are gone.
  6. There used to be a link at the top of this page that had members system photos, but now that that sticky has been deleted, I cant find the page with the members system photos. Thanks EDIT: Duh......... I just found the photos tab at the top of the page. Nevermind....[:$]
  7. It sounds like you have an excellent system. Lets see some pictures!! Whatever you do, dont neglect the vital importance of acoustic treatments. Enjoy!!
  8. LOL... sometimes, that's the whole point!!Whether or not there are many discrete 6-7.1 soundtracks means little to me. Thats why there are receivers that can process a 5.1 signal into a matrixed 7.1 format. To me, it makes a big difference, and I wouldnt have it any other way[] Watching movies in 7.1 ROCKS!! For me, the difference is obvious, and sometimes shockingly so!! There is nothing like the experience of watching a scary movie late at night, and getting creeped out from behind.......LOL
  9. I second that thought. At the low end, there is no comparison between the SVS and RSW-15. If you watch a lot of movies with effects, you'll definitely want to get the SVS.
  10. See, that's my point.....LOL Who says you have to buy a couch with a firm back that wont let you lean back? Get one of those with big cushy, fluffy cushions, and you can lean back to your hearts content[] Not to mention some sofas also double as recliners. Me personally?? I use a big plush recliner for my primary seating, but I see a row of 3 theater seats in my future once they need to be replaced.
  11. Woah.... That's totally subjective. There is no best choice. It all depends on what you want for your room. Whatever you do, make sure it's absolutely comfortable because comfort should always be top priority. If you cant kick back in front of your system for a music/movie marathon and be absolutely comfortable, then what's the point? LOL I also dont understand how a sofa is necessarily less comfortable? Maybe some designs obviously arent, but there are plenty of good sofas that would rate pretty highly for movie marathon purposes.
  12. 12AWG wire from Lowes. They sell it by the foot for about 38-40 cents/foot.
  13. Klipsch is easily the better choice[] Then again, you'll find a lot of people on this forum who chose Klipsch over Paradigm, so that is to be expected. The first three items on your list is a 'no brainer' with Klipsch winning easily. For the fourth item, you'll have to listen to see which sound you prefer better. Lets not forget, the Klipsch name was built on music reproduction, and they are pretty damn good at it. However, everybody has that certain kind of sound that they prefer, and there is no one speaker that is right for everybody. For me, it was a Klipsch slam dunk on all counts. Why are you only seeking discontinued models?? If I was you, I'd be auditioning models from the new reference line. The RF83, 63, 82 towers, and RC64, 62 center are right in your budget compared to the Paradigms you listed. I personally own the RF82 towers & RC62 Center, and I wouldnt trade them 'even up' for any of the Paradigm models you listed.
  14. If you're receiver display is reading 3/3/.1, it's telling you that it's receiving a 6.1 signal from the DVD source. I venture to guess that your DVD player doesnt have a 3/3/.1 display indicator.
  15. Repair it? Sorry, but Im not trying to be facetious, but if it's fried, you'll need to get it fixed. You could always disconnect, reconnect, verify that it's plugged into a good outlet and getting power, try again to run test tones manually, connect to another receiver to verify the sub is the problem...etc, etc, etc, beforehand......... but it sounds like your sub is toast and you'll have to send it in for repairs(or replacement). I always treat opportunities like this(yes, opportunities) as a great excuse for an upgrade. Yea, I know.... frustrating, but chit like this happens. I had a similar experience once without being hit by a storm, and I disconnected all the cabling & everything from the walls, re-calibrated, and it magically started working again. I was sitting down for an evening of movies to watch StarWars EPIII for the umteenth time, and 10 seconds into the opening battle scene, I was like .........WTF, where's the bass!!?? LOL
  16. By all means, mount them up high if the speaker will otherwise be blocked. Towers are great as surrounds, but not if they will be blocked by obstructions. If your speakers are at ear level, the chair you're sitting in wont block the sound. If there are other obstructions, then you'll want to mount something higher.
  17. Get the bigger center speaker. My 2 cents[]
  18. I wouldnt get too hung up on receiver power ratings. The HKs can hold their own. As for speakers? There is a reason that specs for most Bose speakers are kept secret and unavailable to the customer. There are a multitude of respected speaker manufacturers held in high regard by the audiophile community, but bose AIN'T one of them. Klipsch makes some excellent bookshelf speakers that are definitely worth a listen. I'd recommend doing a zip code dealer search and giving the new reference line an audition. Either the RB 51 or RB61 should right in your range.
  19. You think he could have jammed them into the corner any tighter?? Ouch!! LOL
  20. If your Yammi operates anything like mine, whether or not you set your mains to 'large or small' should have no effect on your subwoofer. If I'm watching a movie in 7.1 mode, speaker settings do not effect the sub. If I'm doing a little two channel listening, I can run it on 'straight effect' mode, and it will operate in 2.1 mode. Or I can run it on 'pure direct', and it will operate in 2.0 mode. Good luck, and read your manual[]
  21. If you're really serious about getting the most from your Klipsch speakers, you need to look into acoustical treatments for your room. Any soundroom can benefit greatly from bass traps in the corners, and absorption panels at the first reflection points.
  22. Rudy, Your panels look great!! If there is space, I would also recommend laying one horizontally along the wall beneath your screen & behind your center channel speaker. You can even pull the base away slightly from the wall for extra trapping. If you can also mount one in each corner, that would be the ultimate!! Great job, way to go!! It's amazing the difference a few room treatments can make!! Welcome to the acoustically treated club[8-|]
  23. You went with center channel speakers all the way around?
  24. Heck, most people probably cant take accurate measurements with the analog version.
