  1. Keep them in the family. No brainer if you aren't strapped from your speaker purchases over the last year. Your kids are worth it. If you do need the cash, I suggest selling me the ramblin rose cornies. []
  2. That is exactly the point of the thread. I asked for some recommendations that weren't as mainstream. I love the Stones and Beatles as much as anyone, but there is tons of great new music out there. Just trying to find a little more. I have alot of good stuff for you. [] In the meantime, go pick up 'Attack and Release' by The Black Keys.
  3. I just wanted to follow up on the recommendations that I have acted on. Joe recommended Iron and Wine. I picked up 'The Sheperd's Dog' and it is an absolute winner. Kind of a folksy acoustic rock. Great stuff. Synthfreek recommended a few that are all good. I bought Neutral Milk Hotel. This is one of those 'put yourself out there' albums and is excellent as well. Synthfreek also recommended one of my favorite bands ;Built to Spill. Hat Trick suggested Rodrogo y Gabriela. This disc is nothing short of awesome. Guitar lovers rejoice!! Latin acoustic guitar taken to a totally new realm. There is nothing else like this out there. Very original and very good. Buy this. Next, I'm going to try Lightningguy's recommendation and see if I can go 4 for 4. I'll post a few more of my new favorites tonight. Thanks guys.
  4. Awesome. Nice table too. It's great that you made a cool new friend because of this hobby. How much Vodka did you drink in Russia?
  5. Well, I went to Radio Shack and bought some Deoxit as suggested. I followed directions and used it very liberally while working all of the controls. Presto. The thing sounds as good as it ever has. Deoxit is worth every penny after I was sticker shocked for 17 bucks for two tiny aeresol cans. Worth every penny. Thanks to all for helping me get this fixed.
  6. Usually, I am right on with Fini humor. Big fan. Are you suggesting that it's cooked. That one kind of flew right over me.
  7. Yes, I switched the ICs and the sound definitely followed. It is clearly an issue with the left channel. I tested it with a couple of other amps to isolate the problem.
  8. The scratchiness/static is constant and doesn't occur when moving the pots. It's also in one channel only. Do you still think a cleaning will help this one?
  9. I have an mid-80s NAD Integrated Amp that I want to use to drive my deck and patio speakers that I just installed. One of the channels has a scratchy, static sound to it. I am thinking it might need a good cleaning. Any other ideas or recommendations on how to clean it up? What product do you suggest using? Thanks for any help.
  10. Awesome, another Crown thread. Just what I was hoping for this weekend. [|-)] No offense Bob. []
  11. That is hysterical. Um, and pretty much right on. If cost were no object, I would own these at under 40K new or $25K used. Yes, I have listened to these in addition to B&W high ends (not THE Nautilus), Wilson Grand Slams Alexandrias, etc. I have a good friend at Audio Advice in Raleigh. We disagree on about everything but then again, his speaker cables cost more than my system. He also drives a car worth about a grand. Different things for different people.
  12. You can spend as much as you want to in "high-end" audio. For complete ridiculousness, see http://www.higherfi.com/
  13. Fini, Great call by the way. Those Wilson's look exactly like Rosie, the maid from the Jetsons. Nice.
  14. It's going to be a great day for you tomorrow. Oh, I remember my road trip for my 1st pair of Khorns. Good deal on some really, really nice Khorns. Have fun and good luck.
  15. Johnny Cakes, haha. Great Sopranos reference. [Y]
  16. Nice call on the LSII. I love the cherry - they look great.
  17. Based on your budget, I would consider a used TAD-60 on Audiogon. Great amp for the money and it can be used as a single input integrated as well. I use Rogue amps and love them. The rogue 88s and 90s are really good for the money. I know others on the forum love the old Scott integrated amps, but there are alot of good offerings under your budget that won't require the service. Klipsch speakers do like quality amplification. Most are very truthful speakers. Garbage in - garbage out. Good luck.
  18. Nope, it's a local deal and hopefully he repies to my email. If not this time, I'll keep my eye out for a pair.
  19. ROFLMAO! ROFLMAO! ROFLMAO! ROFLMAO! (just for you Mark!) Seriously though - at least your amp will get there eventually.
  20. Well, I spoke too soon I believe. I made an offer that was accepted and I haven't heard from the seller since Friday at 3PM. []
  21. I listened to the B&W n800 Sig. at Audio Advice in Raleigh, NC with 400 Watt AR Monoblocks and they were nothing short of amazing. That was with 40K in gear and in a perfect acousically tuned room. It wouldn't really be a fair comparison due to the different requirements of gear to get the B&Ws to perform.
  22. Jim/Tom: I'll be driving these with a pair of Rogue M-120s which are 120 WPC, 6550 based monoblocks. The room isn't huge so I think they will be a decent match. We'll see.
