Ok, the receivers i'm looking at are Onkyo TX-SR605, Harman Kardon AVR-247, Yamaha RX-v659/RX-V661, and Denon AVR-1707/1708

Hello, I just bought a pair of RF-5s on ebay (I couldnt pass them up for $550 in excellent condition) and now i'm looking for a resonably priced receiver to power them. I'm looking at a few Yamaha, Harman Kardon, Denon, Onkyo receivers for around 400 new or used. A lot of inputs for video and HD arent that important to me but it's always a plus. What is important to me is good, clean power. It doesnt have to be 7.1, 5.1 would be fine for my needs. The RF-5s are efficent so i'm not sure what sort of power i'll be needing so any recomendations are very much appreciated. Thank you

I just bought a pair of RF-5s off ebay and now i'm looking for a subwoofer and receiver to use with them. I'm looking at 12" dayton sub kits and a sub-12. The Dayton kits are $460 and $500 for the Titanic and High-Fidelity subwoofers. Has anyone heard these subwoofers? They have good reviews and they seem like a great deal but there's also the sub-12 which i have yet to hear. Which would you recomend for 70/30 music/movie ratio in a smaller room (guessing 16'x14'x9'). Any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks for all the helpful advice everyone, the problem is that kit won't work on my car. I have the lx model with the mach audio system and the temperature sensing controls, it does not have the dials and that will not work. I didn't really expect to get top quality speakers in that price range but I expected pretty good quality . I have no seen many speakers go for a price above my range but I am sure some do. I have heard that JL? audio makes some quality speakers. Alpine seems to be a popular brand for car audio but I am not sure what to expect of their quality. Keep the advice coming, I appreciate it

I sent one of the representitives at crutchfield an e-mail because I didn't know if I would be able to install a cd deck in my car. These taurus' have a weird console with all the radio and heating controls. It turns out I won't be able to get a cd deck for my car but they did say I could install a cd changer. I'm not sure if i'd even want to do that because i'm not sure how great the radio even is. thanks for the advice though, crutchfield was very helpful.

I'm looking to get new speakers for my car as a couple of the ones I have now are blown. The car is a 1997Ford Taurus LX and the speakers in the car are 6"x 8"x3". I'm looking for suggestions on some good speakers that are around 100 dollars or less per pair. thanks.

I remember reading that thread awhile ago. It looks alittle too involved for me as I don't really even have the tools to build it. It does look like it would perform great though for the the price. I've never measured by room but I think it's about 12' x 20'

Hello, I'm going to start building a home theater (mainly for music) and i'm looking for some somewhat musical subs with a fair ammount of deep bass. I found the 15" titanic kit on partsexpress for $580 I think. That's about what I'm looking to spend for a sub, If anyone has heard one of these or can offer some other ideas for a subwoofer in this range I would be very happy.

I moved it where the other square was, It's about 9-10 inches from the wall, it was the best I could do with all the stuff in this room. I think it sounds better, sure it's not at loud now but it doesn't sound as boomy or as colored as you said. The lower frequencys sound smoother and I think it might go a little deeper. Your advice was great and much appreciated. I've been reading these forums for awhile now and you always seems to know what you're talking about. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the help, Ear. I Think i'm going to move the sub were the other sqare is in the top. Should the port face the wall? If so, how far away should the sub be from the wall. Thanks in advance

Hi, I also posted this in the promedia 5.1 forum but I think this probably more appropriate. I've had my promedia ultra 5.1 for about a year now and I think the sub might be in a very bad place. It is in the corner as with the port facing the corner as you can (maybe) see in the image. I could place it against the wall on either side of the desk but that's about the only places i can move it. The other square under the desk is a possible placement for the sub. I don't really know enough about subwoofers to determine the best spot possible for it. The corners of the sub are actually against the wall, help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! p.s. The car came with the 6 speaker premium speaker system so i'm sure it's not too terribly bad. Great advice colter, i'll try what you said before i just go out and buy new speakers

This is all pretty confusing, I really know next to nothing when it comes to car audio. The only thing i know so far is i will be needing 6x9 speakers for the rear and i'm not sure what size for the front. I was looking at some alpine stuff, it seems to have pretty good reviews. I'm not trying to spend too much on the whole thing, maybe 500 between the speakers and an amp (not including head unit). Advice appreciated

I decided to try using the treble booster EQ, and I think that with it flat the guitar is a bit too quiet. I don't have the IfI though, I have the PM 5.1 ultra with KG .5 mains.

Hey everyone. I bought a couple of KG .5s in really good condition. I'm 17 and I don't have a job, so I can't really buy better speakers. What does everyone think of the smallest of the KG line? I'm running the KG fronts with all the other PM ultra 5.1. Would I be better off getting rsx-3s for fronts or should I stick with the KG's?
