  1. i agree on both points. On the radio during my drive home yesterday, the host made the comment that "...and tonight a plane from Liberia is landing here."
  2. Snap some photos for us to see Chuck...i don't think i've ever seen North Carolina tires before.
  3. see that's why boggles my mind ... i understand people shouldn't live in fear to a ridiculous level; but, when you're treating people that have Ebola, wouldn't a person naturally want to limit their contact with the general public until they're in the clear beyond a reasonable doubt? Now, if you're working with infected people on a daily basis, that's not practical; but, to assume you're clean until proven otherwise is dangerous. I see people all the time with a cold and doing nothing to contain their germs. They'll rub their nose, sneeze or cough into their hand, then go about their business. Clearly, we don't have the answer yet; but, I think the solution will come from a rational mind not a paranoid one (like mine). Sadly, i long ago lost confidence in mankind to do the right thing--once in a while they surprise me--hopefully this will be one of them (but we're off to bad start).
  4. Good Morning -- i'm still thinking that the contamination most likely occurred BEFORE he was put in isolation. News reports (not always accurate however) have said that he sat for hours in a waiting room amongst other patients. So, i'm wondering if this is just a situation that is not the fault of our medical processes per se; but, didn't ramp up until it was too late? The key factor here, and i really hate to focus on a particular individual(s); but, when Mr. Duncan first went to the ER and told the nurse that he'd been in West Africa and that VITAL piece of information didn't get relayed to the doctor (not sure if the nurse didn't write it down or the doctor didn't read the chart completely).
  5. The news reported that 150 people PER DAY arrive in the U.S. from the three West African countries. And think about this story on top of that, you can bribe someone to let you give a typical burial to a family member who died from Ebola, they will change the cause of death for a price. It's not going to end anytime soon. http://news.yahoo.com/ebola-families-bodies-bribes-153423993.html The human heart is so depraved … i keep saying that nothing will surprise me anymore--then mankind hits a new low.
  6. I believe it. If it had gone airborne, there would be tons of people infected already. I would suppose that the cleaning guys are wise to treat it as if it were. What i have no idea about is, how quickly can a virus mutate -- are we talking weeks, months, years?
  7. save this thread … somebody say something funny.
  8. you surely can’t fault the sick person; however, the line in the song that really hit me was “it won’t hurt me when you cry"
  9. The news reported that 150 people PER DAY arrive in the U.S. from the three West African countries.
  10. The CDC and the Administration won't have it. They obviously have other priorities. In theory this sounds like a good solution; however, i can envision scenarios where this complicates the problem. I’ve read that one of the concerns with that course of action is countries not cooperating and even concealing information so they don’t get put on our restricted list. If travel is banned, the result would be counties that can’t deal with the disease being left to die. I would guess the best hope is the world mobilizing and helping eradicate this outbreak where it began … in West Africa. They just can’t deal with it--they need help and until it’s resolved there, we’ll remain in varying stages of danger.
  11. The last song from one of my favorite musicians … if anyone doesn’t yet know, Mr. Campbell is suffering from Alzheimer’s. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/glen-campbell-shares-poignant-last-music-video-im-not-gonna-miss-you-20141012

    NFL Time!

was the player fined or anything?
  13. Read yesterday that a television network crew’s cameraman has ebola and the crew was put on 21-day voluntary quarantine and that one of the crew violated the quarantine. Heard today that TMZ reports that it was the crew’s doctor nonetheless, who allegedly violated the quarantine to visit a local NJ eatery for some soup. Any forum members that have lived abroad, i’d like your opinion … are American’s too spoiled to adhere to a voluntary quarantine or is this action just basic human selfishness applicable to all people?
  14. so you’re not really a green grasshopper?
  15. they call it enhanced water. my body doesn’t get mad at me when i drink it.
  16. i saw Heidi Klum at Disneyland … we both were at the Dumbo elephant ride at the same time. True Story.
  17. “reading” what are you … some kind of show off?
  18. how about, “I’m William F. Gil McDermott and drinks are on me next citizenship day.” That would be nice of you.
  19. i will check that out after work...read something once that he or Plant was mad because of the criticism about the song having to do with the devil. He said the song has nothing to do with evil. saw a tv show one time where some guy was playing tapes backwards...he played Stairway, stuff was there; but, was i duped by the show, was the band duped by an engineer. i've no idea. whilst not backwards masking, i recall Brian May of Queen asking the engineer for a tape of one of the songs backwards (Tie Your Mother Down possibly) he said, "I'll go home and learn it backwards." Of course, when he played it, it was him playing the chords in reverse order not some clever engineering trick.
  20. i'd have them doing commercials showing them after a game maybe saying, "i don't always get my way on the field; but, I always get my way after the game." Then he grabs some klipsch headphones. That doesn't mention bose; but, tells the viewer that he doesn't get klipsch until he's off work. It will also make people wonder what the nfl uses--when they find out bose, many will wonder "Is Klipsch better than Bose?" Now, the seed is planted...
  21. had a family member that was a professional cyclist...raced against the big boys armstrong and the likes ... my family member had a long standing personal endorsement with Oakley. He joins a racing team that is sponsored by another sunglass company--they tell him that he has to wear the team sponsors glasses. family member refuses. I didn't ask why; but, i will guess that the personal sponsorship of Oakley was better than the team sponorship by the other place. End result--he raced in Oakleys, the rest of the team wore the others.
  22. No offense, but good luck with that. There never was any "good ole days." See my thread on Unlimited sense of entitlement. It is the same now as it has always been. i know -- just pretending it's a Leave it to Beaver world; but, then i guess even the Beave got sued by that company when he ordered some items.
  23. Chuck--learn during the famine...that makes the feast so much more enjoyable. Good luck my friend.
