  1. While on one of my many excursions to my local theatre store the salesman was telling me that when the 64 first arrived to them it had the same problem with not one, but three of the drivers. He said the massive weight of it caused it during shipping. He said they have the problem a lot. When you figure (force= momentum times weight)...If you drop that thing on its side on a pallet. It will do some damage quick.
  2. Well, you sold me on it. Ive been in desperate need of an amp forever but havent wanted to spend the 3000 for a decent 5 channel. 1300 is in my grasp within the next year or so. Maybe I can convince the boss for a payment plan.[^o)]
  3. It makes me fiend for my 83 system upgrade. Do you think my wife would notice a $6000 discrepancy in our bank account? Or, SLIGHTLY bigger mains?
  4. I have been lately trying to decide on my next sub, and so far I am leaning 3 ways... Svs pb ultra 2, Rt-12-d, or the fathom f113. I have known people with both the rt and the svs but nobody has really given a first hand review on the fathom, so what's your review on it?
  5. I had a similar room and I have the Rf-82 package. I did opt for the rw-12d sub instead of the rt-10d. My total speaker package was $2200. I do have the rs-42s instead of the 52s only due to cost saving. GET the 52s. If you are not planning on moving into a bigger theatre later this package will be great. My system will make your hair move at 10' away. So you will be looking at about $2500 which will leave you $1500 for a nice amp to push the 82s. Mind you I do plan on upgrading to the 83 system in a few years but its also $2000 over what you want to spend. With a 7ft. ceiling and your dimensions you dont have alot of volume to fill with sound. t
  6. The 64 is a great center channel but for your room size the rc-62 would be plenty. Put the extra money into a nice amp to drive your mains. My old room was very similiar in size and the 62 will go beyond comfortable listening levels in a space that small. Be sure to look into some foam acoustical ceiling tiles for your ceiling and have them use extra rivets. My old ceiling was that height and Id get rattles from it and not to mention when I pushed the volume it would snow(ceiling tile dust) and I only have the rf-82 mains. The paint your putting on them will keep the dust down but you are going to have some acoustical nightmares with reflection considering the low ceiling giving you some early reflections. Dr. Who can explain all that to you. I can tell you the problems but he can tell you the whys and the solutions.
  7. I asked this same question for my 42's and omni mounts were recommended by someone with the 62's which are 30lbs and they were working for him. So, you should be fine.
  8. Hmmmm........Let us know how you like it. Put it through the ringer a few times and give us the results.
  9. Ive actually thought about using my 82s for my surrounds once I get the 83s. How's this working for you?
  10. All I needed was one negative comment to change my mind. I bought the xbox360 for my kids when they were here for Christmas. So, I did have 10 days to audition it and was impressed. Im just really wanting a 1080p player. I am guessing Blu-ray is going to win over Hd-dvd only because of more disc space and all your local BestBuys and such are pushing it a lot more than Hd-dvd.
  11. Ok, here is my question.....A Blu-ray dvd player costs upwards of $800.00, but the Playstation 3 w/ a Blu-ray dvd player built in is $600. So, for $200 cheaper I get the Blu-ray and video game console. What's the difference in the Blu-ray players? Does the sony play dvds with equal quality as the Blu-ray dvd player? Thinking about getting the xbox360 soon but I would settle with the Playstation if it meant I could finally see my new tv play 1080p for the first time(I have OTA hd and no cable).
  12. The video place by my house has both systems and I have auditioned both. Imo I would go with the 83s. THX is nice but the set up they have has all top end amps etc.(65000 worth of equip). I like the sound but they dont recommend THX for listening to music, which seems odd since most movies have soundtracks. Soundtracks which are music???? Doesnt make sense to me. The 83s are friggin awesome. I have the 82s and I love them. But, atleast once a month I am at the store listening to the 83s which I plan on upgrading to just as soon as money is available. Go with the 83s and a good amp to drive them and you will never question the decision you have made. And, Jet Jockey was right....the 82s and 83s are worlds apart. But, my 82s do the job very well till I can make the upgrade.
  13. She is the same way. She thinks an alarm clock sounds just as good. Next time I am out I will get a hold of you and we can meet in Birmingham for thai and then hit the stores.
  14. Wow! I guess I can say for sure I am the new kid on the block. My first experience was about 9 months ago. I had a cerwin-vega set-up when I lived in Nevada about 7 years ago. Moved back to Michigan and all I had was a portable. My parents had some sony 100 watt speakers so I picked up a used two-channel receiver at a garage sale. Once I got home I plugged it in and nothing. So, in pure anger I went back for my refund. I put the 10 bucks with another 400 and got an open box deal on a Yamaha receiver at Best Buy and was looking for some decent speakers(I must admit I was thinking Bose). Came across the synergy line and liked it. Researched Klipsch online. Joined the site and was told to check out the reference line. I went to AudioVisual on Woodward and auditioned the reference line. Went to every audio place on Woodward(like 6) and they all bad mouthed Klipsch. But, I couldnt get that horn sound out of my head. Now I am hooked for life. I could only afford the 82s and the matching set up except I went with the rw-12d instead of the rt-10d. Infact I just spent an hour there last week listening to the rt-12d and the rf-83s. They will soon be mine. Poor sales guys hate to see me coming. I violate their merchandise every time I go there....not to mention my wife dislikes my outings there. She has not caught the audio bug yet.
  15. Congrats!!! Thats awesome to hear. Allison and I will have to go out and pick up a copy tomorrow. Its great to see a forum member and Klipsch in the top 4!!!
  16. Just one problem...My wife handles the finances. And, embezzlement may sound like an option.....but she believes in the death penalty for such crimes!!!!
  17. Thats a good price. If I were closer I might take you up on that deal. But, it would probably put me in divorce court.
  18. Thank-you guys so much. Yeah, the photographer was great and he had a great personality also. He made it fun. Sorry it is taking so long to respond to messages. Classes have started once again and I am forever one chapter behind on my reading and a homework assignment is lurking around every corner. Im sure many of you can understand.

  20. Standsandmounts.com I just ordered some for my rs-42s. Look at the omnimount 20.0 or 30.0. I bought the 20.0s which are rated for 20 lbs and they are working great with mine. Holds the speaker in position without slipping, which tends to be the problem. I have mine mounted about 8ft. off the ground for lack of a better option. I just tilted them down.
  21. My house is awesome. If I ever get time to get batteries I will post some pictures. In fact I will get to that tomorrow.
  22. I remember you. Definitly do. 586-944-7661
