  1. thanks, yeah, it's been a long hard, fun road. now on to a new parth! lol. well maybe out of debt first and owning a home again.....lol
  2. decided to stop being lazy. added several links to what i have done and some pics. i still have not figured out how people get several pics on 1 post. the only way i can do it is through "paint". anyways, it was super fun building and tuning this all in. i simply can't use it right now and not too sure if ever. "open" floor plans = sucky HT.
  3. updated pic of modded cables. this was the final build and tie up.
  4. updated pic of front 3. (after all mods and equipement changes)
  5. man, i too, hate it when others do this, but this time i simply don't know. there's the extra cost of veneer, complete crossover rebuilds, horn mods, cabinet mods, it really depends on what someone is willing to pay. isn't the normal crossover upgrade around $300 or something like that? i have 7 speakers with those upgrades. i don't know what holds value or what even devalues them. that's why (i know it sucks) someone is going to have to hear them. i personally think they sound amazing, but then, all of klipsch speakers sound amazing. i'd personally would love to sell the entire set up to someone, take it to their HT room, set it up, tune it in, and know the buyer is 100,000,000% happy. i would take off work if i had to. i know that's a pipe dream because most people just need a few last times to complete their own masterpiece. i would like to help you, but i don't know what the market is at right now. pm me if you are really interested and let me know what the value is to you.
  6. Lol, yep, that's an important detail....lol. All the gear is boxed up in Dallas (buddys house, in his not used bonus room) but I'm in OKC. Yukon to be specific. So there could be options. At some point I need to go to my house and bring some items to OKC. I could bring the gear with me if needed.
  7. hey there, (original layout) hears the first pic after i did the initial set up. ***all speakers are completely modded. all but the center channel has sonic craft caps. to me, those are the best choice for HT use. they are all matched too! the binding posts on the speakers are changed too. the front 3 have WBT gold, and the surrounds are WBT rhodium. if you care, even the solder is some quad type copper based product. all the connections for the wires are gold plated connectors, only caps and resistors are soldered. the mains have an upgraded inductor for added bass.*** RF-7's will come with the veneer i planned on putting on them (Ebony). i have enough veneer to do the mains, center, and sub. i have the original boxes for these. grills are in OK shape, i think each one has a few pegs missing. of course the cosmetics on the 7's are bad, that's why i have the veneer. i believe i also have the matching Caps from the center channel for these. not 100% sure, but i think i held on to them. modded crossover, cabinet, and horn. ***$1500?? not too sure on price. there is a lot of money in the crossovers and i know they are smoother than RF-7II's. with a veneer job these would be a work of art. RC-7. they are in good/great shape, maybe a 8 or 9? i have the original box. i believe the grill is in good condition. i think one cone has a faint line in it. not sure when or where that happened. this speaker has Clarity Cap and Jentzen Superior Z caps. this would match the most popular crossover upgrade for the 7's. i also understand if you would still like to keep them all the same. ***$500? looks good, you wouldn't need to veneer this unless you bought the mains and wanted it to match. S-42 (2 pair). both have upgraded crossovers and binding posts. i have the box for 1 pair. one pair is better than the other. i think on the bottom of one speaker there is a tear on the speaker grill. can't see it unless you pick it up and look at the bottom. ***$425 (with out box) ***$475 (with box) ***$850 (both) 2 ea speaker stands. made from African Mahogany wood. not veneer, solid wood. i think they were 40" tall and were designed to have the RS-42's sitting on them with no visible lip from the speaker stand. that way there was no speaker reflection. i made them, so they look good from 6' away! lol. ***if you want these and buy a pair of the RS-42's, i'll make you a nice offer Custom built ET center. if you really want something shaped like that. i guess if you had the cash, you could take all the equipement, et center, and wires and would have a nice well put together system. if you find the pics of the wire management on the ET center, this will all make sence. ***$500 it's a long shot, i doubt someone wants this style, but if you are local, i'll do your cable management for FREE! Emotiva LPA-1 it's 7 channels, 125 watts x 5 channels + 2 x 50 watts. it's in great shape. does have an upgraded Gold IEC inlet. ***$450? Power cables/RCA cables.depends on what you buy. if u buy gear also, i'll sell these at a CRAZY price. i know most of the power cables i have go for over $500 at most dealers. i'd sell most of them at cost. HT is 100% opinion. i think everyone would agree my Home Theater system sounds great. i would love to sell the entire set up to one person but i know that is rare and very hard to do. every item is an individual sale, if you like. i live in Yukon Ok (73099), but my gear is in Forney TX (75126). i'll ship anywhere, but the cost is on you. i can possible drive or do a half way meet if you like. basically, within reason, i'll do what ever i can for the buyer. thanks for your interest...... BTW: the reason for the sale is because i am looking to change my HT to a 3.1. my apt. is too small for 7's. i'm willing to trade for RB-61's and RC-62. (not straigth across of course).
  8. hey there fellow Khead's..... has anyone heard the G-42 in action? i am thinking my current setup is going to have to go. i'm now back into an apartement (laid off, moved for job) and started looking at houses. so far, i can't find a house plan that would allow me to have a decent 7.1 or even 5.1 set up. to get a house i love i'm going to have to dial it back a bit on surround sound. i'm thinking of going with this sound bar and have a nice true 3.1 sound field. i guess i could get crazy and do 3 RC-64's and hide them into a wall (since they are sealed). all in all, the G-42 might be the best option once you consider cost and physical set up. if anyone has any opinions, please let me know, i need to start planning now. it still is fun to talk with home builders about "surround sound" and how their floor plans don't work for it. no matter what you say, they tell you it will "work." i'm so happy my wife brings up how my speaker set up will or won't work when we first walk in. i'm so blessed she allows me to do anything i want with speakers.
  9. looking at this soundbar, it's has Left, Right, and Center speakers and inputs. for a normal 5.1 or greater set up, there isn't any questions. the question comes up for a 3.1 set up. this is how Klipsch is advertising it. to my knowledge and a quick check with google, i can't find a single true 3.1 AVR. my UMC has a 3.1 option, but it's par at best. does anyone know of a processor or AVR that has a true 3.1 option? have emotiva sent out any new updates to make their 3.1 option sound better? thinking of just getting the Vizio soundbar, hooking it up to the UMC and having dedicated sound out of the soundbar instead of the tv speakers. the Klipsch route seems too complicated and expencive for what it is.
  10. i have a furman 20PFI. i bought that for the power correction first. second, the protection, third the filter. i do hear a cleaner sound with it. it's main purpose is the additional 55 peak amps. with everything plugged in and running, you simply don't have enough amps from a 20 amp wall circuit (usually 15 amps). what normally happens is your sound gets a little "muddy" but honestly, unless you have a 20PFI and do a A/B test, you may never hear the difference. the best reason to get a surge protector on this scale is to protect your gear. if i were to pay full price for everything i would be in the 10K arena. my Furman 20PFI was $700, so less than 10% of the total value. there has a been a couple of times (in my brand new - 1 year old-) that i have had high enough spikes that it tripped the furman off. i'm sure it wouldn't have blown my system, but i'm glad i don't have to find out if it would have.
  11. i am so glad i am not the only one. the black bars irritate me! i just deal with them because there is no use. like Youth said, until they standardize it ALL, you will have black bars no matter how much money you spend. i have to simply ignore it because my OCD issues will kick in and i'll try and design a whole new set up!
  12. i agree with the rest. i owned the 805 and paired it with Emotiva LPA-1 and RF-7's. the only precausion i would say is, the 805 is a bit bright. with the 7's that really came through. during movies, couldn't really tell that. only during an audio demo could you pick up the brightness. i think for action movies, the brightness is a plus. there is one other issue, but it has a work around. if you want to use the 12v trigger function, you lose your two rear channels, making your avr a 5.1 only. the work around is easy. purchase any Wall Wart and plug it into the back of your reciver. plug the other end into the 12v trigger and when the AVR turns on, it will turn on the trigger. anyways, it should sound great with your gear. plus it has lots of features.
  13. i would give up the 7.2 idea and go with a 5.1. a good choice for the side speakers would be something in the RS series, i suggest RS-42. i had a similar situation with the set up. i initially had RB-61's and they didn't preform as well as the RS-42's. my couch was even a few feet from the wall. the direct firing speakers will just fire right over your head when you are that close. a klipsch tech person also told me if i had to keep the RB-61's a neat trick is to lay them facing up behind the couch. that way the sound travels up and gives you that "surround" sound. i never tired it out and have no idea if it would work, but it was his suggestion to me. with having a full wall behind you, the RS-42s would be ideal at 90 degrees from your sitting position.
  14. i'm with Artto, why didn't you just use (link)? there's no benifit converting between the two, so this simple cable would or could be your best bet.
  15. well life has taken me in a new direction. i may have to sell my current house and i am looking at this new house. here's my dilemma, do i attempt to have a surround system or just get rid of it all. doing audible tests with my set up i found out simply moving a surround speaker just 6" vertical was like turning that speaker off. so i know having them way up at the ceiling isn't the best location, but works. looking at the floor plan i can place my rear speakers between the kitchen and living room. its a big arch way dividing the two so the lowest those speakers can go is about 8 or so feet from the floor, but will be real close (couple of feet) to my back. i would assume having them at some sort of angle would be best then just flat against the wall. the same situation for the rh surround speaker at the dinning room wall. it too has the same arch. the only issue would be the lh surround, i would have to delete the windows at top and have it a solid wall to match the other 3 speakers. the wall has two sets of windows (total of 6) and the top ones are not really needed. i can place the speakers there, but i am not sure how well they would actually work. yes sound will come out, but how far is that set up from optimum? i have rs-42's (with upgraded crossovers) for my 4 surrounds, would there be a better surround speaker choice? i was thinking of just going with a 3.1 (i have a umc) or possible 5.1 and leaving it alone. i am almost thinking of going with a sound bar and quiting. maybe just two mains and a sub. not really sure. my last home was built around my 7.1, this home, i just love the lay out. to me, it's almost better to have a great 2.1 then force a 7.1. if anyone has had a 7.1 in an optimum placement and then had to change it to something it looks like i may do, please let me know what or if any sound difference you had. i think i am leaning more toward a 3.1 or 2.1. i hadn't played with the 3.1 option with the umc so i really don't know how it sounds. maybe i can sell everything i have, build my cornscalas, get the xmc, xpa-2 and be done......
  16. Falcon, yep, lost my job. finally i had an opportunity in Tulsa, so i took it. at first i was going to stay up here and the wife and kid was staying in Texas. we lasted about 1 week. we couldn't stand being apart. so we rented out our house and all of us are up here now. the renters take care of the home and all the bills so i don't have that finical burden of living in two places. from the time i put the ad on craigslist to the time we collected the first months rent, it was 5 days. i'm not making a profit on it, just renting it for my mortauge. i know that's not smart, but i would rather not have to pay anything then maybe pay the entire amount. i hope my season here is short and i can come back to texas. not saying tulsa is a bad place to live, just saying i between the two, i prefer my home in forney. so, no one from tulsa with klipsch huh? lol, it figures....lol
  17. are there any K-Heads in Tulsa? OK city? i just relocated here, for a season hopefully, and i wanted to know if there are any members here. my set up is boxed and stored away for now .
  18. so the basic question is, has anyone actually heard this in action? i can't go by reviews because they all say the thing is "fantastic!" i'm sure most of the people posting that have never heard a true HT set up. so to the guys here who do have the nice HT set up, how does this actually compare? not looking to replace anything, just trying to get a good base line. i have had to relocate so the entire HT got packed up. i really don't like TV speakers so i was thinking of getting one of these. the wireless sub goes down to 35Hz, not too shabby. by the specks it seems decent, 90db, 80Hz-20Hz and the sub is 35Hz-80Hz. anyways if anyone has any input or has one for sale, let me know. unless the thing is complete C**P. Asked Amy if Klipsch would make one, she said the guys are at least kicking the idea around.
  19. did anyone else notice the different klipsch speakers? i saw RF-83's and a RC-64. the other set i am unsure of. good movie. RedBox is awesome!
  20. you should post this in "Lets see your HT." nice though.
