does anyone know if there is a mod for the 10.5 or c-5 speakers in the synergy series? i have seen a few people here that have speakers moded, and i would like to know if mine can be moded too. thanks in advance.

i looked at monoprice, does anyone know what type of manufacture makes the RCA connectors? are they crimp or solder? if someone knows, let me know please or i will call them monday morning to find out. i am a big canare fan because the connectors are crimp and from working on aircraft, crimp connectors will always beat solder, especially when you add time to the equation. west, i looked at those white pages. i don't have the money for 4 subs but 2 might be possable. according to their research, for 2 subs they suggest one dead front and back. i am looking into getting svs's subs. if i have to put one dead center front, then the tube design is out, i might go for the square.

i should check on my own treads more often. after a voyage to EQ's house and some discussions with him and falcon, i quickly realize, along with you fine gentleman, the sub behind (directly is a bad idea). it is still going in the rear of the room but near the et center in the corner. that way i should get a better sound out of it. it will also allow for a shorter cable which should save me some money. thanks guys for the input!

another thing to add while i am on my soap box, how many great players acted like him? that is why he is not a great player even though if you ask him, he will say he is. to be truly great you have to be humble. well if it isn't true it should be! all he is, is a team distraction. in fact i know in dallas they stoped talking about him on the news. i was so happy not to hear what TO did or said that day, or if he fell asleep. all i want him to do is shut up, catch the ball, and run. other than that, be quite and sit down.

well with bb i have had some luck where i paid a lot less for the open box and got the warrenty free. maybe the kid that sold it to me was sick or something.

no you are correct. but it is easier to walk in there and buy it and not have to worry about shipping or something like that. comp usais also going out of business and have 30% off stuff. i have never been to tweeder so i don't know their quality.

the only thing that would come to mind is go into BB and see what "open box" item they have. for that money you won't get good quality no matte what brand you buy. i wouldn't suggest ebay because of the shipping reason, but there might be something. good luck on your findings

another quick story about things in pics....my wife let me take a photo (not a porno type) of her in her shirt, bra, and panties. let me say again, nothing dirty, just cute. well the she said i could put it on my tool box so i would remember her while at work. i did tell her a thousand or so guys would also see it, she still didn't mind. one such guy was looking and he starting laughing. he pointed to an object in the background against the wall. it was a long box and it read "World's strongest bed frame." Innocent enough, we had just bought a new frame from the store we got out mattress, and that was the brand they carried with it's logo/selling point. it got a good laugh at work, not to mention the high fives from the guys saying stuff i won't put on the forum.

alright, i hope i didn't bust you out too much, it just made me laugh. to tell a quick story, my boss at work e-mailed me a pic of him at the Renaissance fair with this "hot half naked chick." i showed the wife, and she starting laughing at it. being a guy i couldn't see what was funny about a hot half naked chick. she pointed to the right of her and there was a mother pushing her sons in a stroller. once son had is view blocked by his hand, and the other was dead locked on her open bare A**! it was so funny i printed it out showed it to my boss, and then showed him the mother's sons. to my disbelief he had never noticed the wife or kids! to make the story even funnier, his wife hadn't noticed either! it makes you think what she was looking at! take care! i hope the story made you laugh! keep the pics comming!

falcon, have you setting the problems with hk? i just feel so bad for you, having all this trouble. i think your idea of throwing it up in the air and shooting it would relieve some stress! you could also take a page out of the movies (Office Space) and take your revenge on the hk yourself! if you don't know what i am talking about -and please no one spoil it for him!- go out and rent the movie, it is one of the funnest movies made about "office workers." well harmony there you have it. you have plenty of choices which should make the process of choosing very hard and tedious. once you enter the realm of $1000-$2000 everything is well made and has a good rep from someone. falcon suggested listening to several models, but keep in mind different stores will have them hooked up with different wires, cords, speakers, and the position of the speakers. all that effects the sound. maybe one week they need to "push" one model so they hook it up sounding really well, and the other models they some what hook them up. it is the same trick they use to sell tv's. to test if i am a liar or talking out my butt, go into any tv retailer and check the settings. you will find that they are not all the same. (the factory will set them different, what i mean is the store will then "adjust" them to suit their needs). i also know this because i had friends who worked at BB. look for the deals on the good products and decide if you want seperates or all in one units, that will help narrow the field.

just to chime in i did get a chance with falcon to go to EQ's house. i did like his heritage speakers. the only thing i don't like is the size. don't get me wrong they sounded great and from what i have seen around ebay, you can get them very cheap. (well cheaper than a new RF line). depending on size i might entertain that series of speakers....i just have to get my room built first and then see.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS! okay, now that we have met.... are you looking for all in one or separates? your budget can afford a good separate pair. i always recommend www.outlaw.com because they are cheap but very good. from my reading on this forum several people have them or at least recommend them. you can pick up a 990 used or even new for $1000. then for an amp, you don't need much and since we just spent half your budget, you can get a 7125 amp (125w per channel -7 channels). that is another question.....do you have a 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1? you can also pick up these units from www.audiogon.com. i look there often and you don't see outlaw that much and to me that seems like a good thing. if people are not selling their outlaw products, then at means they really like them and don't need to upgrade. that is just my own opinion. if you want an all in one the brands mentioned before will do just fine. i still have a 6.1 tuner i bought around 9 years ago. i personally would stick with the good Yamaha and you can get one of those at any BB, CC, or Frys. BTW, don't worry about THX certified, it doesn't matter unless you have the whole thx stuff, including the right room. just make sure it has dts or some series of dts. all the new stuff has all the settings you will need.

that is a nice looking apt living room. nice floors. if you are looking to upgrade the sub, try http://www.svsound.com/index.cfm it's SVS subwoofers. they are internet based only and from what i have heard with my ears, they sound good. i have also heard several people here on the forum have them.

check ebay, but only buy from authorized dealers. there are complet rf 7 systems on there. if you want to max out your speakers budget go for the rf -83, they are also on ebay for a pretty good price. check around first, there may be better deals. remember you will most likely not be able to buy everything at once. that is the headach i am going through now, i want everything now, the room built now, etc. etc. it's very hard waiting! if you have to, but just the RF-83 mains and the RC-64 matching center in one purchase. just those 3 will sound great. good luck and keep everyone posted on your progress!

PhilMays said it best, don't worry about "overpowering" your other speakers. get the db meter at radio shack, it's around $50 and remember to get the ANALOG! the digital doesn't work as well. you may also want to get a dvd that does the test tones, your processor's test tones might not work as well. you can get that dvd anywhere. the dvd will walk you through everything you need to know. ps. you will also want a tri pod to hold the meter, if you don't you can get different readings and sometimes pick up extra noise just by holding it. with the tri pod it makes setting the speakers easier and will yeild better results.

^^^^^^^what he said! either get a smx screen and put the speaker right behind it in the middle, or get a regular screen and mount it just below the screen. like trey said, the mains should be around ear level.

i had that problem too, so i designed one myself (autocad) and had a local builder build it. it cost me $200 and i still have it today. works great and my center speaker is the ksf-c5. i keep the center flush with the et center so i don't get any of booming sound. it is also open in the back to help prevent that. i have some posts here in the architecture section about this et center and a few others i have designed. here is the link to my current et center. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/7/882174/entertainment%20center.pdf if it suits your needs, just print it out and have a builder build it for you.
