  1. Hi Mike, What Cayin Amp are you considering and what CDP are you using? A couple of months ago when I picked up my new Heresy III I had the opportunity to listen to them connected to a Cayin A88T tube amp and a Cayin CDT-17A tube CD player. To my amazement these Heresy III sounded totally different to when I had them hooked up to my Denon 5803. It sounded like there were Subs in the room, I couldn't believe the depth and loudness of the bass, neither could the store manager. The sound was floor to ceiling and wider than the room with absolute detail and you couldn't detect where the speakers were placed. After hearing them connected to the Cayin Tube Amp you might decide you dont need a sub. ATM I have them hooked up to a Onkyo SR701 and using a M & K V75 sub and they sound good but nothing like when they were connected to the Cayin tubes. So it looks like its tubes for me in the near future. Is anybody on the forum using Cayin amps or CDP? Regards Skeg.
  2. My amp normally sits on the floor, this was when I was demoing the new HERESY III at home and I needed the extra space. Make sure someone gives you a hand to lift the sub as it weighs just over 40kg and a arkward shape to pick up.
  3. I'm running 2 Velodyne CHT15's in my H/T. They are a great sounding sub with plenty of low deep bass, I'm very happy with their performance. Make sure everything is nailed or glued down because it will shake your house to pieces. Let us know what you think of it after you listen to it for a while. Skeg.

  5. I would buy 2 Heritage centre speakers in black if they were available. WHAT IS THE E.T.A ON THESE SPEAKERS???
  6. The height of the Heresy III without the riser is 21 7/16" or 542mm.
  7. $406.83 with less than 18 hours to go.
  8. I have had my new black Heresy III's for a month now hooked up to a Onkyo SR701 and a M&K V75 sub with very pleasing results but a bit thin on bass without the sub. I had the opportunity to hear the H III connected to Cayin A88T tube amp and a Cayin CD17A tube CDP when i bought them, WOW, NO sub required when the H III are powered by these tubes. I'm hoping to buy a tube amp around Christmas.
  9. It's up to $305 with 1 day 13 hours to go. Should be as interesting to watch as the 60th Khorns auctioned early this week. Buy it now seems cheap at $175.
  10. I have the same problem as you, I can't fit a heresy as a centre channel in my system with major work to my Hi-Fi cabinet. It is unbelievable that Klipsch don't make a convensional sized Heritage centre channel to match the Heresys and Cornwalls, I would definitely buy one as would other Heritage owners who run HT. The chances of picking up a 2nd hand black Academy in good nick here in Australia is almost zero and the centre channel speaker i'm using ATM doesn't match the Heresys at all. I to have thought of making a custom Heresy centre but didn't know what woofers would be most suitable. So when Klipsch start making a Heritage centre again they can send the first black one to Australia. Regards Skeg.
  11. Let me guess.... a large glass jar with a Klipsch logo on it, to put your pennies in. But my pennies will get wet! I hope you don't mind but I have to use that pic as my new Avatar because that is me to a T.
  12. You will also have to go into the receivers menu and turn surround back to OFF.

  15. Another pic of the Heresy II and III.
  16. The Heresy II and the Heresy III are the same height, see attached photo. The H III is 7 pounds heavier than the H II and the H III has bi wiring where the H II hasn't. After A / B both H II and H III the H III had deeper and tighter bass but in the top end there wasn't much difference and IMO the H II sound slightly smoother in the top end. HERESYII ON THE LEFT AND HERESYIII ON THE RIGHT.
  17. I only listen to music at this level for maybe 3 songs twice a week not every time I sit down to listen to my sound system. The Denon AVC- A1SR puts out 170 watts RMS / channel and two Velodyne CHT 15" puts out 300 watts RMS each. I enjoy listening and feeling the music at these levels for short periods after spending lots of money to build this system and being surrounded by absolute clarity, it's a bit like owning a sports car and doing 100mph when you should be doing 55mph.
  18. Last week I was playing some CD's in 2 channel at reference level in the dark and when I went to shine the torch to see what time it was the clock had vanished off the wall. I got up to investigate what happened to the clock and found it in many pieces behind one of my subs. I'm constantly straightening pictures on the wall after some of my listening sessions but the clock is the first victim of my sound system. I also have checked the walls and cornice but there is no visible cracks showing yet. What damage has your sound system done to your house and contents? Regards Skeg.

  20. I recently purchased a pair of Klipsch Heresy II 2005 in black off Ebay Australia last week. After a 200 mile round trip I got these Heresys home and set them up. Instantly I was impressed with the sound, it sounded totally different to the RF63's no harshness of fatigueing sound and more like the Klipsch Tangent 40's I've been using for the last 5 years but with more detail and clarity. I knew my search for speakers was over after listening to these Heresys but I started thinking I wonder what the Klipsch Heresy III sounded like so I rang my local audio shop and he ordered me a new pair for me to demo over the Christmas break, hopefully they should arrive tomorrow. What difference in sound should I expect between the Heresy II and Heresy III? I'll post my opinion between the two after 4 - 5 days of side by side testing. Regards Skeg1967.

  22. Just a quick update, I returned the Mirage V2 FS yesterday and explained my likes and dislikes of the speakers to the shop manager telling him I want a pair of speakers to last me for a long time. The last thing I want is to replace the speakers after a year or two because I made a poor decesion now! I told him I wanted to listen to a pair of Heresy III and he is going to source me a pair to demo. I have never heard the Heresy's in action but the shop manager owned a pair during the 80's and 90's and he told me they were one of the best sounding speakers he ever owned and he regreted ever selling them. After reading a lot of reviews and threads a common statement about these speakers is they lack a bit of deep bass, I'm not to concerned about that as I will be running two 15" Velodyne subs to help out. I will be looking forward to giving these speakers a decent work out when I get them. He also wants me to try the Bose 901 but I'm unsure about these speakers even though I have heard this before and was impressed by the sound. Have any Heresy owners owned 901's to give any comparsion. Regards Skeg1967.
  23. Thank you for the warm welcome to this great and imformative forum. I would like to demo the Heresy III but I don't like my chances of getting my hands on a pair to listen to. I hope they are not as fatigueing to listen to as the RF63's at louder levels of volume. After returning the RF63's to the audio shop they hooked them up using a large NAD two channel amp and preamp and they sounded the same as when I was using my Denon 5803 so I think my amp wasn't a problem, the Denon 5803 is a really great amp. So after months of testing the old KlipschTangent 40's out perform all the speakers I tested with the Mirage Omnisat V2 FS close behind. They have a very nice sound and a great soundstage but a sub is required for deep bass, amazing sound for a speaker with such a small footprint. I will let you all know how my quest for speakers go shortly. Regards Skeg1967.
  24. Hi, I'm new here and I live Down Under. I've been listening to Klipsch speakers for the last five years. I was lucky enough to mind my mate's 1989 Klipsch Tangent 40s but unfortunately he wanted them back leaving me with no main speakers. I thought it would be a pretty easy process selecting a set of new main speakers but I was wrong. After three months and listening to over a dozen pairs in showrooms and bringing home four pairs to try at home I'm still no closer to making a decision. The speakers to make the short list were the Aurum Cantus Melody 102, Orpheus Aurora 3 Aussie speaker, Mirage Omnisat V2 and the Klipsch RF63. The amp I'm using to test these speakers is the Denon AVC A1 SR the Aussie equivilent to the Denon 5803. My local audio shop sourced me a pair of brand new RF63 to demo at home for two weeks, after unpacking them and setting them up I turned on the amp set the volume at low to medium and put in a CD. Instantly I was amazed at the super high frequencies hearing things I hadn't heard on all the other speakers I had tested, at these lower volumes it seemed to lack real bass but I knew I had to run these speakers in for 100 hours. After the 100 hours of running them in I started to crank the volume and they did still seem to lack bass, lucky i'm running 2 x 15'' Velodyne subs to help out. Another problem is the RF63 are the most fatigueing speaker I have ever heard, 2 - 3 minutes at near reference levels and you want to turn it down or leave the room, so I was disappointed because the old Tangent 40s could handle this for 4 - 6 hours with no fatigue at all. Are all the new Reference Series like this? So I'm either going to buy the Mirage V2 or try and source a nice pair of Klipsch Tangent 40s or similar from this board or Ebay. I didn't realise these old Klipsch speakers sounded so good until I compared with what was on the market today, There is plenty of crappy speakers out there. BTW Klipsch now owns Mirage Speakers. Regards Skeg 1967.
