  1. I still own an SU-V5! It is a great vintage Technics integrated. I bought this in '81, took it to college, sold it to a roommate, bought it back later, and still have it. I had to replace a relay and a cable actuator from the front slim selector knobs, but it is still a great amp. Still love those FL power indicators. I think back when I as a teenager got the Hi-Fi bug. This amp was bought with money from mowing lawns! Mark
  2. sniff.... it HAS been a long time guys. It is great to hear from you veterans from 1999 when the Klipsch forum was birthed, along with our ProMedia line... All the best to you. And to those still lurking, please do check in! --Mark
  3. This is not intended to limit the additional subs to even increments only... 2, 4, 8, 16.... It is illustrative only. But to achieve equivalent +6dB steps, laws of physics require that you keep doubling the surface area. You will notice a difference with each sub, but keep the physics in mind.
  4. I have seriously considered going this route, as I am tired of aligning the CRT-based rear projector. As far as the screen goes, how about painting that wall? And can you just plop the little projector on your coffee table for "movie-time"?? How far back do you have to get for a 100" diagonal? What about Epson? What is the hands down best performance/price value??
  5. To whom it may concern: Would you be so kind to repost the subwoofer comparison article (link) that featured the KSW 15 and RSW 15 along with Velo. HGS 18 and others. Thanks
  6. I like it! The give-away is a rumor, but if we had a turn out it would justify pics for the website, and maybe a story. This is history in the making, people!
  7. I have an idea! Why don't all you nuts, uhgm hmmm, great guys! (and gals) come to Indy for Celebration II for a reunion?! (I know it is a trek for many of you, but, the Star Wars Convention doesn't happen very often.
  8. Well, we finally did it! Just for you! Monster upgrade wire kits, exclusively for ProMedia systems: v.2-400, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1. http://www.klipschonline.com/store/dept.asp?dept_id=3

  10. The 5.1 pros work beautifully with a 5.1 soundcard. The main reason to pick up the Tornado is for a PS2 (Optical Digital output).
  11. Yes, the 5.1 has a specific Sub-in. The AT 5.1 was modified to work with the ProMedia 4.1, where the rears stay in "large" mode, for maximum bass output from the subwoofer. Please refer to the posted User Guide in the web store for details.
  12. Set up tips: I have talked on the phone with a few of you, so I decided to post these tips to help with the proper connection of the Tornado. The ProMedia speaker systems hook up to the AT 5.1 decoder as follows: 1. Front channels are the "line" jack, the green mini-plug. (2.1, 4.1, 5.1) 2. The surround channels (purple 0R black plug) hook to the rear surround. (4.1, 5.1) 3. The sub and center jacks are separate mono miniplugs on the back of the Tornado. NOTE: Audio Tornado 5.1 requires an adaptor (available below) that makes it compatible with a stereo miniplug, as provided with the ProMedia 5.1: go to http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fn ame=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F001%5F001%5F000&product%5Fid=42%2D2495 You will need this for the ProMedia 5.1 center/sub stereo miniplug (orange plug) to connect to the Tornado. You can probably get this at your local store too. Hope everyone has a fun and safe July 4th. -- Mark
  13. Actually we voiced the 5.1 to blend nicely across the front. It is designed for the near field just as the 2.1 & 4.1... ------------------ Accomplish the impossible, and it's expected.
  14. FYI, first availability is at our webstore...
  15. Update from Klipsch: Just to let you know, the ProMedia 5.1 will be slightly delayed for launch, available for online purchase the week of July 15th. We did some final tweaks to it, and it is a true Klipsch, if I may say so. We will have technical details up soon, along with specifications. MC
  16. MAKE SURE THE POLARITY IS CORRECT. Not to sound elementary, but sometimes those solid and dashed lines get crossed Adjust the bass according to your taste. Start at the minimum position. And different sources have different bass levels too. So don't be surprised if you need to adjust it occasionally depending on your playback source and overall volume level. If the sub is corner loaded it will pound you. Back off the bass and the mids will come through nicely. Frequency balance is a product of so many things, the source, the room, the phase at your listening position. Experiment, and you should be quite pleased. ---Mark
  17. Hmm... Good timing for Klipsch to offer the "new and improved" WB-1 custom ProMedia Wall Bracket. Coincidence???
  18. Normally Klipsch would expedite a leveraged buy-out, with this sort of technological advance. Rather than spend the money on further research and development, we would prefer to acquire the competitor. However in this case, we are hesitant with this approach due to the nature of this cutting edge adhesive textile method. Our congratulations for your perseverance in reaching this painstakingly earned solution, after (we assume) many days and nights spent perspiring through creative brainstorming. We admire you sir. Have you considered submitting this to the engineering science hall of fame?
