  1. Sorry about the double post, forgot how to edit. I was trying to replace the word if with is (programed). Not that everything I say is not worth quoting. TKA

  4. Any one familiar with digital amps? Bel Canto is the only one I have heard of. (http://www.belcantodesign.com/) As I understand they are on the level of tube amps but at a lower price point. TKA
  5. Any feelings on a tube preamp with a ss amp? The tubes would last longer in the preamp and you may get some of the sound quality you are looking for with less hassle. TKA
  6. Speaker stands should do four things that I am aware of 1) raise the level of the speaker to your ears at listening height 2) keep the speaker cabinet from moving as the speakers themselves vibrate 3) stop the vibrations from traveling to the supporting stand so you don't get unwanted hum.4) keep your speakers from crashing to the floor and totally ruining your whole day. 7. My understanding is that the surround speakers do not get a lot of signal. The surround is often just ambient sound and not the fully recorded sound track. Is more $ spent on different speakers going to help, I don't know. TKA
  8. Check www.sanus.com ,they have a number of different lines and price points. TKA
  9. I think I will leave the HT alone, forget about a second HT and start over on my stereo with a tube amp and some yet to be decided speakers. Any suggestions? TKA

    DTS/THX??

Thanks Mustang, That helps. Boa, I have been reading broadcast surround and am a little confused. I think what is being decided is that the TV recieves a stereo signal that can be seperated into the early Dolby surround. When the signal becomes 5.1 or better then we can get a true seperate channel surround sound. Thanks TKA

    DTS/THX??

Could someone define some of the terms involved in multi channel sound such as DTS, THX, ProLogic etc.? Thanks TKA
  12. Got it fixed, the DVD Menu was set wrong. Thanks for the help. TKA
  13. I am not using the coaxial cable which I think means the reciever is not getting the digital signal. Is the digital sound signal better than the analog? TKA
  14. My 3300 plays music and DvDs in analog but not in digital. I am assuming that the CDs should play in analog but I would think the DVDs should be digital. In an earlier post someone mentioned that you have to set up the digital funtion at the time you play the DVD, but I could not find any way of doing that. Any suggestions? Thanks TKA
  15. I have KG2 with a Denon 3300 and the only thing I have noticed is at high volumns there is a static sounding hiss if you are close to the speakers. In another post someone mentioned that the horns in the KG2s are d-horns, something that Klipsch did not stay with. I tried to get more info on the d-horn thing but"no reply". TKA
  16. Kluge, You might get more replys in the Pro Media section of this BB. TKA
  17. Some of the DVD players don't read the CDs that you burn on the computer. I just bought the Denon 370 CD player and I don't see any difference between it and the DVD player. The Denon is a close out right now and seems to be a good buy. TKA
  18. Its sounds like 5.1 broadcasts are few and far between. Does anyone know if the regular channels abc, cbs, the history channel etc. use surround? I was watching the Daytona 500 and they had little sound moments when they said, crank it up on your surround system but I think it was just stereo. Thanks TKA

  21. Hey Klewless, Just stopped by Audio Perfection. That is a little bit different world than most of us see at the shopping center "hi end" stereo stores. I think I just heard one of the most expensive stereos you can buy and I would guess one of the best sounding. I did compare the top end SS amps to the Atma-sphere tube amps and the tubes were softer sounding. The $20,000 CD player and the $6,000 turntable probably helped the sound as much as the amps did. Back the the real world, it sounds like $6 to $7 thousand will get you a pretty nice sounding tube set up with a CD and speakers. TKA
  22. Sounds like a good thing, but what the heck is VIRAL MARKETING? <Klipsch also wants to make a strong move into the digital loudspeaker market. The company's V-2 400 THX multimedia sound system "has not only won universal praise from computerjournals, but has introduced a whole new generation to quality sound," Jacobs stated. "VIRAL MARKETING is the key to making this industry grow.">
